So often, we find ourselves relying on our own understanding, convinced that our ways are right and our thoughts are sufficient. Yet, God’s word reminds us that His ways and thoughts are far above ours. In our pride, we may persist in our own direction until we realize how disconnected we’ve become from God’s heart. It’s in these moments of humility that we are called to regroup with God, to recognize that our own “rightness” is not enough. Through spiritual disciplines like fasting and prayer, we shed what is not of God, much like the eagle loses its feathers in order to be renewed. Fasting is not just about abstaining from food, but about making space for God to clarify our vision and answer questions we didn’t even know we had.
The authority we have in Jesus’ name is profound. Just as acting in someone’s name means you carry their authority, so too, when we pray and act in Jesus’ name, we do so with the authority He has given us—not our own. This means our victories and breakthroughs are not because of our own wisdom or strength, but because Jesus works through us. We are His agents, acting for His benefit and glory, not our own. When we claim our “wings” in Jesus’ name, we acknowledge that only through Him can we receive the wisdom and empowerment that comes from God.
God designed us to run at our best when our hearts are filled with His love and goodness. We cannot earn this; we must simply trust and believe. Compared to God, our lives are fleeting, and it is impossible for us to fully grasp the eternal impact of our choices. Therefore, the call is to surrender completely to Jesus, to die to ourselves, and to live as His servants, doing all things in His name. As heirs of salvation, purchased by God and born of His Spirit, we are blessed to soar above life’s storms. We have been given the authority to claim victory over every trial and tribulation—so let us boldly claim our wings in Jesus’ name.
Isaiah 55:8-9 (ESV) — > For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
2. John 14:13-14 (ESV)
> Whatever you ask in my name, this I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask me anything in my name, I will do it.
3. 1 John 5:14-15 (ESV)
> And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.
