“But here is the thing. Speaking Jesus isn't just about the words that we say. That's part of it. But it's not just the words we say. It's about how we live. It's about how we act. It's about how we live. That's what gives those words real authority and real credibility. There is a huge difference between saying in Jesus's name as a phrase and in Jesus's name as a lifestyle.”
“No, it's going to look like compassion. It's going to look like generosity. It's going to look like radical love. Making space for people, valuing them, helping them without condition.”
“Vision without sacrifice is just a daydream. What he's hitting on is this idea that if you have a vision but you're not willing to pour your blood, sweat, and tears into it, is it really a vision or is it just a daydream?”
“I see, man, this really matters to her because this isn't just a daydream. You can see this is like a vision for a refreshed room, right? Like she is willing to put her blood, sweat, and tears in this thing. She's willing to put her money into this thing. That's what the marker of a true vision if you're willing to sacrifice for something.”
“Our mission to help people find the father, a family, and a fulfilling future. Our vision for people to experience how Jesus changes everything. Uh, and I get excited because I look around and I see a church that that is a vision for us. This isn't a daydream.”
“There are people, groups, there are specific people there there are people all over the place that we uniquely reach here at Cornerstone. That if we were not here, there would be a gap in the faith community of Akran.”
“We have multiple people here right now who are still like, I don't I don't even know about all this. We prayed a little bit ago. I don't know if there's anything up there is actually listening to us. Like I I'm in the middle of questioning all of my stuff. And this is a place where they have been felt where they have felt like, man, I don't have answers, but I feel safe here. I feel like it's okay to have those questions here. I feel like I'm not going to be kicked off to the curb or treated as a secondass citizen because I have those kind of questions here.”
“We're not afraid of your questions. We're not afraid of your life. We're not afraid of your background or who you are. We're not afraid of any of that. And the city of Akran needs a church like this. The city of Akan. Absolutely. The city of Akran needs a church like Cornerstone.”
“What will God's vision for our church ask of us? Now, I just want to say on the forefront, this sermon and the next few sermons, these are for people who call Cornerstone home. So, if you're just visiting today, you're you're not in relationship with Jesus, none of that kind of stuff. I'm so happy you're here. I love that you're going to be listening in, but I am specifically talking for the next three weeks.”
“Before we can take ground for the kingdom of God, we need to see the ground. We need to know what we're getting into. Uh, we're we're having Jessica's immediate family over for Christmas this year. We've never done this before. Like, we feel like adults for the first time in a unique way because we're having Christmas at our house.”
“When we look around and we see our city, I want to ask us church. Do we see a problem to solve or do we see a people to love? When we look around our city, when we look at the city of Akran, when we look at our neighborhoods, when we look at our communities, I'm going to be honest, I'll make it more personal. When we look at our families, when we look at look at our workplaces, when we look at our friend group, when we look at our high schools, when we look around, do we see problems to solve or people to love?”
“We don't see this place as a problem to solve, but a people to love. And so we were like, "No, we\'re we\'re doing whatever we can to get roots into this area, into this area, into our city, into our neighborhood, into our community. It's an important thing for us to invest so that we can get past the problems to solve and see the people to love.”
“Because I'm telling you, if that's how we see the people around us, if we if we see our families as nothing more than a brother-in-law and I have an argument to win here, because me and him, we don't rub each other right. He he voted for that guy. And like man, if I can just I just can my my goal every time I see is to convince him to win, to be better, to be smarter. Like how are we seeing the people around us?”
“God's people, we do not run from the fight. We don't run from fights. We engage them. We engage them. I I I look at scripture and it's it's so challenging to me to think about the fact that um Jesus's followers, they ran into the places where persecution's happening.”
“If God's call is the loudest call of all, we can push through anything. I think about Jesus's ministry. If Jesus would have stopped the moment he experienced push back or criticism, you want to know when the gospels would have stopped. Matthew chapter 4, Mark chapter 1, Luke chapter 4, and John chapter 2. We'd we'd have about nine total chapters in the Gospels.”
“We're only as good as our reliance on the Holy Spirit of God. That is how good we are. how good we are, how how awesome of a church we are. It is always going to be dependent on how reliant we are on the Holy Spirit.”
