#MissionOverComfort
“``The greatest obstacle to church planting or growing a church is not money, rarely money, it's comfort. Comfort says stay. Jesus has told us go. Comfort says we've done enough. Jesus says, the harvest is plentiful. Comfort says, what will we lose? Jesus asked, who will be reached and what will they gain? Every sending church feels it. Sending leaders hurts. I get it. Giving finances stretches. Launching people creates empty seats. But get this, heaven celebrates every seat emptied for the sake of filling eternity.”

#ChurchOnTheMove
“I think the tragedy is that many churches have become museums instead of missionary basis. We polish what already exists, and Jesus wants to build what does not yet exist. The church was never designed to simply gather. The church was designed to go. So ask ourselves this morning, if Jesus is still working, am I working with him? Or have I settled into something else? Is it possible to attend church every week while ignoring the mission Jesus is still accomplishing? Be the church.”

#ResurrectionDemandsObedience
“Luke says that Jesus presented himself alive with many convincing proofs. The resurrection is not merely good theology. It changes everything. If Jesus is alive, then he deserves complete obedience. Dead men cannot command. Living kings can. Church planting is not a denominational strategy. It is an obedience to the living savior. So is bringing the person and work of Jesus into the spheres of our influence. So is being vulnerable and allowing others into our lives so they see the resurrection power of Jesus within us and through us.”

#BecauseHeLivesWeGo
“I think the greatest argument for raising up and sending out and church planting is not statistics. It's the resurrection. It's the resurrection. What was dead is now alive. Because Jesus lives, the gospel still saves. Because Jesus lives, his kingdom still advances. Because Jesus lives, his church keeps multiplying. We are here today because Jesus lives. That's what the books of acts tells us as it walks through history.”

#PlantChurchesChangeLives
“Growing churches and church planting is not about stealing people. It's about finding lost people and introducing them to Jesus. It is about multiplying the kingdom. Imagine heaven one day, and someone walks up to you and someone you've never met, and they say this, I grew up in a small town where there was no gospel church. Then your church planted one. Someone invited me into it. I met Jesus. My marriage was restored. My children know Jesus Christ. My grandchildren today serve him. I am here because your church decided that comfort was not the mission. Generations are changed. Cities are transformed. That conversation, your witness, makes every sacrifice worthwhile.”

#ReachYourCity
“I think churches often make that same mistake. I think, we debate prophecy. We sometimes maybe debate politics. I think maybe we debate preferences. Meanwhile, people are going to eternity without Christ. So Jesus redirects the disciples' attention and our attention. He says, actually in verse 11, stop staring into the sky. Stop staring into the sky, and instead, start reaching the city. Start reaching your family. Start reaching your neighbors. Start reaching your coworkers. Start reaching your enemies.”

#SpiritNotPrograms
“Sometimes we wait because it's the work of the Holy Spirit that we're catching up with. Programs cannot replace power. Money cannot replace power. Buildings cannot replace power. Talents cannot replace power. Only the Holy Spirit can build through his power, the church. I think many churches have excellent organizations, but little anointing, little waiting. Raising up to go, releasing people, planting churches, that's all spiritual warfare. But without the spirit, we build monuments. With the spirit, God builds his church.”

#WitnessNotThrone
“As you look into the book of acts and as you just read even these first 11 verses, what has happened is Jesus has died. Jesus has risen, Jesus has conquered death, and now everyone expects him to establish this kingdom immediately. That's what you hear in this conversation. Instead, Jesus starts talking about his church. The disciples are looking for a throne. Jesus, it says here, are looking for witnesses. The disciples are thinking about a kingdom they can enjoy. Jesus, it says here, is thinking about people that have never ever heard his name. There is at the pardon me. This is still the heart of Jesus today. There are cities without churches. There are neighborhoods without the gospel. There are children growing up without ever hearing the name of Jesus explained or his sacrificial life experienced. Families living and dying without hope.”
