30s
“Jesus formed the church to be a place where the words from the Lord's prayer are fulfilled. God's will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We aren't alone as God and Christ through the spirit promises to be with us along the way, but it is our hands and our feet that are Christ's in the world. Christ is alive in us and so we are called to bring the gospel of Jesus to others.”
28s
“But what is more important than Peter's role of authority is Peter's proclamation, which is why Peter was chosen. What Jesus is really setting as the foundation or the rock of this church is not Peter himself but the news that Peter declared. That Christ is the Messiah, the Son of God. The purpose of the church in any time and any age boils down to sharing this message.”
34s
“To trust in God is to trust that God can make anything happen even when humanity has lost hope like Abraham and Sarah. And to trust in God is to trust that even though a bumbling guy was the first to receive the keys of the church, the assembly of believers has, is, and will do great work in the name of Jesus Christ. God does great things and we are blessed to be called into that work each and every day even if it seems hopeless or we are the last person that God should ask.”
