The danger isn’t just deliberate sin but the slow erosion of affection for Christ when we coast on spiritual autopilot. Jesus’ story of the prodigal son begins with subtle wandering – a son choosing temporary thrills over his father’s presence. Our souls, like distracted children in a grocery store, chase scavenger hunts of empty fulfillment unless anchored in God’s presence. [07:36]

But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. The father’s plea (“everything I have is yours”) exposes the tragedy of living like hired hands when we’re heirs. Performance-based faith suffocates joy; only receiving the Father’s love fuels true obedience. The real prodigal isn’t the rebel in the field but the rule-keeper refusing the feast. [35:39]
