In Isaiah 9:6-7, we find a profound prophecy about the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This prophecy, written 800 years before the events it foretold, is a testament to the power and accuracy of biblical prophecy. It speaks of a child born to us, a son given, upon whose shoulders the government will rest. [00:00:15]

There is nothing that is more strengthening to Faith than this whole element of Prophecy in the Scriptures. It means foretelling as well as forthtelling and this is the Striking thing here that you have all these details in the Old Testament concerning our Lord and his coming and all of them were literally actually fulfilled down to the smallest detail. [00:02:07]

Our danger most of us as Christian people is to think of the coming of Our Lord into the world and all he did solely and only in terms of our own personal salvation of course it's right that we should start with it that's the first thing obviously that's what we all need that's what the world needs. [00:04:35]

It is very wrong indeed to stop at that and that I feel is the danger with so many of us now I don't want to go into the history of this though it's very interesting to do so you get reactions and our danger perhaps as Evangelical people is to react to what we've heard so much about. [00:06:21]

The government shall be upon his shoulder the government if you like shall be placed upon his shoulder he shall be invested with this position with this Authority and with this power that's another another way of saying this here is this old world the world made by God so perfect but he looked upon it and said of it saw that it was good. [00:14:38]

The whole universe the whole Cosmos is going to be restored fully and perfectly to God this is a part of God's great plan and purpose now you will notice that this theme is always a prominent one in the Old Testament but it is also a very prominent one in the New Testament if you keep your eye upon it. [00:09:28]

The kingdom of God cometh not with observation not without outward pump and show doesn't come like that kingdom of God is within you amongst you in your midst well now the point I say is that this kingdom is all together different and that's the thing we've got to grasp not a matter of military might or force or power. [00:27:00]

The characteristic of God is truth righteousness Justice Equity Holiness these are the characteristics of God and therefore they are always the essential characteristic of his kingdom wherever he Reign so that we must always think of this as the fundamental characteristic of this reain and this is the wonderful story of Christianity. [00:28:01]

The increase of his government and peace there shall be no end upon the throne of David and upon his kingdom to order it and to establish it with judgment and with Justice from henceforth even forever more truth and righteousness the great characteristic of this Kingdom these are the characteristics always where God Reigns. [00:27:30]

The Zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this what a statement what a phrase the guarantee of all this is this that it's God's Own purpose and with what is almost a dangerous anthropomorphism the prophet puts it like that he says the Zeal of God is going to bring it through it's the purpose of God it's the power of God. [00:43:53]

The government is upon the shoulders of the strong Son of God he hath laid help upon one that is mighty so his kingdom shall be without end and it's a kingdom of righteousness and of justice of peace of equity and of Holiness blessed be the name of God who has called us out of Darkness th of the kingdom of SED into the kingdom of his dear son. [00:46:17]

The kingdom of God is increasing the number of the elect is being gathered in it's going on and on and on and it will go on until it's finally complete increase in that sense but increase in extent also there is a day coming when no part of the universe will be outside his Reign and jurisdiction isn't this a wonderful thing to contemplate.
