#FaithOnThePerfectSavior
“``If your faith is dependent upon perfect Christians, your faith's gonna eventually collapse. But if your faith rests upon a perfect savior, it can stand forever. According to Hebrews chapter 12 verse two, our eyes should be fixed upon Jesus, not on imperfect people. And, yes, as Christians, we should be striving to set examples for others to see and follow. We should be. But we need to recognize that we're not perfect, and we need to acknowledge our own shortcomings. This is partially why the gospel is so important. It transforms hypocrites into honest sinners. The gospel is not for people who simply pretend to be good people. The gospel is for people who know they aren't.”

#JesusIsTheStandard
“One of the greatest mistakes people make is measuring Christianity by its followers instead of measuring Christianity by the one we follow. Jesus is the standard. Not me, not you. Jesus is the standard. Christianity is named after him, not after the people who are chasing after him, not after those of us who claim to follow him. Christians are imperfect people who sometimes fail. Jesus never failed. Christians are imperfect people who sometimes sin. Jesus never sinned. Christians are imperfect people who sometimes disappoint. Jesus never disappoints.”

#ChurchIsAHospital
“Church isn't meant to be a museum where saints gather. It's meant to be a hospital for sinners just like me. The difference between a Christian and an unbeliever is not that one of them has never sinned against God. The difference is that one of them has admitted their faults and come to the great physician, the only one who can heal them, the only one who can restore them unto God. Jesus is still inviting sinners to come to him. He's not looking for perfect people because perfect people don't exist.”

#SalvationForSinners
“Jesus didn't come to save those who thought they were righteous. He came to save sinners. That means every genuine Christian begins by admitting a few things. We have to admit that we know we can't save ourselves, not from the consequences of our sins against God. We have to admit that we need forgiveness for our sin. And finally, we have to admit I need Jesus. And that confession right there ultimately destroys hypocrisy. I say that because the cross exposes our sin while at the same time displays God's grace.”

#PointPeopleToJesus
“Every Christian should be regularly asking themselves this question. Does my life, does my example point people toward Jesus or does it push them away from him? So let's recap. When someone says all Christians are hypocrites, our answer, our response shouldn't be defensive. Instead, we can say, I'm not gonna argue. It's true. Some Christians are hypocrites. And I'm sad to say at times, I sure have been hypocritical myself. But Christianity has never been about pretending to be perfect. Following Jesus is about admitting that we're all sinners. We're all individuals who desperately need a savior who is perfect because not a single one of us is.”

#RepentanceNotDenial
“John says that the hypocrite isn't the Christian who admits failure. The hypocrite is the person who claims they don't have any failure. The Christian life is marked by repentance whenever repentance is necessary. A follower of Jesus will admit I was wrong. I have sinned. I have messed up. I am in need of forgiveness. I need God's grace every single day. That's humility, not hypocrisy.”

#ConfessionNotCoverUp
“Paul wasn't celebrating sin with this statement. He was acknowledging his ongoing battle against sin. And I said this earlier, I'll I'll say it again. Weakness is not hypocrisy. Pretending we're above weakness, that we don't struggle with weakness, that we don't struggle with temptations, with sin, and with passing judgment on other people. That is hypocrisy. I'd like to point out that confession is the opposite of hypocrisy. Now we're not part of a church where you have to go and confess necessarily to a priest or to your pastor, but you should be confessing to the Lord your God. You can do that in private. Yeah. There may be times when you should go to someone and say, wronged you. I did you dirty, and I would like to apologize. But some of those things, you need to just take them to God and be forgiven. You don't have to go through any other human being to do that. Praise God that through Jesus Christ, you can go right into the throne room yourself at any point in time, any any time of day.”

#NoMasksAllGrace
“No one spoke more strongly against hypocrites than Jesus. The thing is, we've all worn masks at times. We've all tried to hide things at times. We've all tried to cover up our true feelings, our emotions, our fears, our doubts, our regrets, and so forth at times. But as I said earlier, a hypocrite is someone who deliberately pretends to be something he or she is not. Hypocrisy is not when one of us is struggling with sin. Hypocrisy is when a person is pretending that they have no struggles at all. It's that person who looks at you when you slip up, when you make a mistake, and they come from a stance that they never do that. And that's wrong because we are all sinners saved by grace. We all have our weaknesses. We all have our temptations. We all have our spots where we slip up. We all need forgiveness.”
