“First of all, do you know, do you recognize the gift that God has given you? Now, it's not just one thing. It may not be one gift, it may be several gifts, maybe a variety of gifts, but to every single believer, we hear this time and time again. First Corinthians twelve, first Peter four verse 10, time and time again, every single believer has a way, a gift to give to the church. Christ has given you a gift that he intends for you to use in service to the local body. Do you recognize that need? Do you recognize that we're not just volunteering? I am going to go above and beyond and give my time to serve in this way. It is Christ's gift to build up his body.”

“Are you a passive listener? Are you an active listener? Christ calls us to be active listeners because the truths we hear, he intends for us to able to speak to one another, to encourage one another in timely ways. And it happens all the time, even in times we're not fully aware of it because we're just talking to a brother or a sister. They're talking about the hard time they're going through, and we encourage and comfort them with the comfort that we have received from the gospel. I was in that moment, and here's how Christ met me and encouraged me and sustained me through it. And we encourage one another with these gospel truths.”

“And usually, the way that that happens is we see a need or we hear about a need in the local church, and we are moved to fill that need. We think we that is a way that we might be able to serve, and we are moved to do so. And when that happens, it is important that we understand we are not just volunteering. Christ is making you a gift to his church to fill that need. That means we need to take our service in the church much more seriously in that regard.”
