46s
“So the way of the Pharisee, self exaltation. The way of Christ Jesus is self denial and service of another. These are the two diverging paths that are laid before us. This is the kind of greatness that looks as others as more significant than yourselves that I pray that we are marked by. The kind of greatness that lays aside the pursuit of trying to get others to think we're awesome. So Jesus is giving us the recipe for great living today and it's a reversal of what we're taught in the world and in the way of the Pharisee.”
51s
“to to turn from living this way and come to king Jesus. Whether that be for the very first time or whether it be for a time that you can't even number because you've continually had to be turning away from sin and coming back to Christ Jesus. A call is the same as as the spirit has revealed to you areas where you have been walking in the way of a Pharisee. Come and lay that down at the foot of the cross. It shouldn't cause us to shrink back in pity, but rather to come running towards our king in repentance.”
55s
“Friends, Jesus is the humble one. If anyone could have exalted himself, it would have been Jesus and it wouldn't have been sin for it to him to him exalt himself. But this is not what he does. He loves and considers others more significant than himself. Jesus comes and he gives his life for the sake of others. So I'll ask you, is this how we see others? Is this how we love others? You're followers of Jesus. Let's look to our king as we interact with one another and others. And let's have the mind of Christ Jesus that looks on others not with self interest, but with humility and service in his heart. That's the contrast that is being laid before us.”
