The event of Jesus rising from the dead is not a myth or a legend, but a reliable historical event witnessed by many. This reality is the foundation of our faith and the source of true transformation. It is the greatest event in history, and trusting in it allows us to build our lives upon a solid, unchanging truth. This historical certainty gives us confidence to follow Jesus completely. [03:23]
For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.
1 Corinthians 15:3-5 (ESV)
Reflection: In what area of your life do you most need the confidence that comes from trusting a historical, reliable truth, rather than a feeling or opinion?
It is possible to live with outward liberty yet remain inwardly enslaved to sin, shame, or fear. Jesus came to shatter every chain and proclaim a freedom that penetrates the deepest parts of our being. This is a freedom that cannot be taken away by any circumstance or person. It is a gift to be received and lived out each day. [04:36]
So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
John 8:36 (ESV)
Reflection: What is one specific thought pattern or habit from which Jesus might be inviting you to experience His freedom this week?
Many carry heavy baggage from yesterday—regrets, resentment, guilt, or shame—allowing it to define their present. The work of the cross and the power of the resurrection provide a way to lay that burden down. We are invited to receive forgiveness for our own failures and extend forgiveness to those who have hurt us, finding a profound sense of being set right with God. [10:33]
He was delivered over to death for our sins and was raised to life for our justification.
Romans 4:25 (ESV)
Reflection: Is there a specific regret or resentment you have been carrying that you are ready to hand over to Jesus in exchange for His peace?
The same divine power that raised Christ from the dead now lives within every believer. We are not left to navigate the pressures and stresses of life alone or in our own strength. The Spirit is our ever-present Helper, Comforter, and source of strength, offering rest for our weary souls and interceding for us when we don't have the words. [17:43]
If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.
Romans 8:11 (ESV)
Reflection: Where in your current circumstances do you feel most weary, and how can you intentionally invite the Holy Spirit's help into that area today?
Our hope is not a vague wish but a confident expectation based on God's faithfulness. Because Jesus conquered death, we no longer need to live in fear of it. This hope anchors our souls, especially during times of grief, trial, or uncertainty, reminding us that God will ultimately make all things right and we will be with Him forever. [25:35]
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.
1 Thessalonians 4:13 (ESV)
Reflection: How does the confident expectation of eternal life with Christ change the way you view a current challenge or fear?
The resurrection of Jesus stands as the decisive event that defeats death, sin, and the powers of darkness, and it offers practical freedom, present help, and future hope. The empty tomb proves historically reliable—witnessed by many within living memory—and that reality reshapes identity: justification through Christ declares believers righteous and dissolves the shackles of guilt and shame. That new identity frees people from carrying the same old baggage from house to house, relationship to relationship; forgiveness becomes a conscious choice rooted in the cross rather than a merely tentative feeling. The resurrection reorders memory by inviting the transfer of regret and resentment into Christ’s hands so that past hurts no longer dictate present posture.
Resurrection power also addresses the daily grind. Ascension and Pentecost make Jesus’ presence more accessible by sending the Holy Spirit, whose life-giving action raised Christ and now dwells within believers. The Spirit supplies ongoing strength, intercedes where language fails, and supplies moral renewal so that the realities of faith operate in ordinary struggles—work pressure, finances, and the fatigue of urgent living. The Spirit’s presence transforms anxious striving into dependence and equips believers to live with practical power rather than mere self-effort.
Finally, the resurrection secures a forward-looking hope. Biblical hope equals patient expectation: waiting on God anchored in the promise that death no longer holds final authority. The one who called Lazarus from the tomb and who triumphed over the devil’s claim on death guarantees a future resurrection and reunion. That future certainty reshapes how grief is carried now and how life gets lived in the tension between the already and the not-yet. An open invitation accompanies these truths—an immediate call to hand over past sins, to choose forgiveness, and to entrust life to Christ’s lordship now—because the risen Christ remains faithful, present, and coming again.
And one young man took his life because his girlfriend broke up with him. I'll never forget the agony at that funeral. It it was terrible. And then the other young man that took his life, he had gotten in trouble. He got a a felony on his record and he felt like he was never gonna amount to anything and that he would never have a career. And he lost all hope and he took his life. Guys, there is hope no matter what happens in the resurrection of Jesus. There is hope for the future.

Love it. Today and every day, we celebrate the greatest event in the history of the world is the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It changed everything. And my prayer all week is that everyone who would come or watch online would be changed and transformed by what Jesus did did for you. Over 20 times in the four gospels, Jesus said that he was going to suffer and die at the hands of sinful men. But on the third day, he was gonna rise again, and he did it.

Yet I was shown mercy because I acted ignorantly in unbelief. And the grace of our Lord was more than abundant with the faith and love which are found in Christ Jesus. It is a trustworthy statement deserving full acceptance that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners among whom I am foremost. You might feel like that today. Yet for this reason, I found mercy so that in me as the foremost sinner, Jesus Christ might demonstrate his perfect patience as an example for those who would believe in him for eternal life.

And the truth is many of us in this room, many of us watching online, your gas tank is empty. You're running on an eighth of a tank. When Jesus came and lived and died and rose again to fill you up completely, blessed, overflowing, overflowing. Jesus gives an invitation in Matthew 11. He says, come to me all you who are weary, all you who have an eighth of a tank. Come to me and you'll find real rest for your soul.

For you and me today, let's go chips all in that he's the resurrection and the life. You don't have to have it all figured out. You don't have to know the Bible back and forth. You don't have to become a good little boy or a good little girl. You put your hope in Jesus. He does the changing. He does the transforming. I know for me, my chips are all in. I'm I'm all in that he's the resurrection and the life.

It took a whole year after D Day, the declaration that the war was over, to have what we call V Day. V Day was the total victory. There was no more battles. But for a whole year between the war being over to V Day, there was a battles that were going off. You know, the the enemy did not wanna let go of whatever foothold they thought they had. You and I have a real enemy who's still waging battle against you and I, waging war on us but he is defeated.

Our hope can't be in something that can be taken from us. People can be taken from us. Possessions, money, whatever, four zero one k's, they all can be taken from us. But Jesus and his promise of eternal life and his promise of peace and joy in the midst of this difficult life are for real, and that's what our hope is in. I've been doing local church ministry a long time, And the hardest thing I've ever done is I had to preside over two suicide deaths. And they happened within a few months of each other.

Can I encourage you? Don't try to do this life on your own. You weren't meant to do life on your own. God didn't create us to pull ourselves up by our bootstraps. He didn't create us to say, hey, God. I got this. He created us to have relationship with us and to help us in every way. And there's times in life where you recognize your need for God. And there's times when life's going good that you don't necessarily acknowledge or realize how much you need the Lord.
