#CarriedByTheSpirit
“And, we were talking about being born of the spirit in John chapter three where Jesus says, those who are born of the spirit are like the wind that blows wherever it wishes. And Osan said something that was so powerful. He said, most people when they think about the Holy Spirit, they see the Holy Spirit as something to be caught, like wind to be caught. But, actually, what we need to see the Holy Spirit as is the wind that carries us. And then, sent me this this verse the next morning from second Peter. For prophecy never had its origin in the human will, but prophets, though humans, spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.”

#HeartOverAppearance
“And, can I tell you why I think this matters so much? It's because there are far too many Christians who are hiding hearts that need transformation behind behaviors that look good. I'm gonna say that again. There are far too many Christians who are hiding hearts that need transforming behind behaviors that look really good. Many Christians go to church, many Christians say the right thing things. Many Christians have bible verses on their social media profiles or bumper stickers on their car, which is very ironic when those are the cars that cut you off the most. Right? But internally, they're stuck in sin. They're stuck in shame. They have no real relationship with God and they feel empty.”

#FruitOverFeats
“So, I think there's a few ways that we can respond to this. The the second point that I wanna encourage you to, our next point is this, choose fruit over feats. Choose fruit over feats. Jesus is telling us we will know which path we are on by the fruit that's in our lives. The way that we know the path that others are on is by the fruit that's in their life as well. And he's saying, listen, the evidence of one's life is their fruit. Notice, he does not say the evidence of what's in their life is their title. Notice, he did not say Notice, he did not say the evidence that is purely external is the only thing that we're seeing because fruit comes from a tree that's connected to a root system that has a whole health of its own.”

#FruitRevealsPath
“He says, listen, you'll be able to tell if somebody's on the wide road or the narrow road by the fruit that's in their life. Good fruit can't come on bad trees. Bad fruit can't come on good trees. Good fruit comes from good trees. Bad fruit comes from bad trees. He's saying, listen, there's evidence in people's lives of what road they're on and that's for us to start, if you remember from last week, in self reflection. Right? And, right after this, he even carries this further of saying, listen, there will be people who do extravagant things, who do miraculous things, who do powerful works, cast out demons, heal the sick, proclaim Jesus' name, and he will turn to them and say, I never knew you all.”

#SurrenderToLighten
“here's the good news. When we surrender, we're throwing off everything that we're that we're carrying. All of the burdens, all of the extras, all of the performance, all of the achievements, all of the titles, all of the shame, all of the brokenness, all of the pain, all of the places of our lives that are extra burdens because in order to walk a narrow road, you need to have a light load. Amen? When we surrender, we're able to do that. So again, Jesus is saying, listen, there's a choice before us. Choose the narrow road, choose the wide road. One is life, one is death. And, I believe that if we if we choose transformation and surrender, he will lead us to life.”

#TransformNotTransaction
“``Pastor Johnny Chang wrote it this way, at the heart of transactional Christianity is a desire for control. Faith becomes an insurance policy instead of a relationship. God is more interested in forming people than delivering outcomes. This is why Jesus says, come down the narrow way. Move through the pathway of life. It is a road that is marked by God's transformation in your heart and your life. It's a pathway that's not revealed simply by saying, look, I've never murdered somebody. Thumbs up. Good for you. Because Jesus says, if you look at somebody with hatred in your heart, you've already committed murder.”

#BeCarriedNotCaught
“The idea of surrender is not the idea of catching the spirit and asking for his power to do whatever it is. It's being carried along by the power of the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead. In every circumstance of our lives, and it's not just saying I want this transactionally so that I've got what I need in the midst of whatever it is. It's saying, I want God to reach into my life and transform me and make me more like Jesus so that in everything I am, I am yielded and I'm experiencing him, not as the Lord over here and the Lord over there, but the Lord over all.”

#HeartCheckChallenge
“So, how do we do this? One action step I wanna encourage you to in your prayer life is to check your heart. To check your heart. You know what's so interesting is all of this sermon is just one big heart check. It's just one big heart check and actually, all of these pages are one big heart check. Because a major central theme to the scriptures is how we relate to God and others with our hearts. Jesus sums up the law and the prophets by this, love the Lord your God with all of your heart, soul, mind, strength. Right? God tells the prophet Samuel, I don't look at the outward appearances but I look at the heart.”
