Day 1: Centering Life on Christ Amidst Distractions
In the midst of life's busyness and distractions, it is easy to lose sight of what truly matters. The pursuit of success, material wealth, and daily responsibilities can often overshadow our spiritual priorities. However, it is crucial to intentionally keep Jesus at the center of our lives. This means prioritizing our relationship with the Lord and ensuring that our actions and decisions align with His will. By doing so, we can navigate the complexities of life with a sense of peace and purpose, knowing that our lives are anchored in Christ. [00:27]
"Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth." (Colossians 3:2, ESV)
Reflection: What is one practical step you can take today to refocus your priorities and ensure that Jesus remains at the center of your life?
Day 2: Trusting God's Timing and Closed Doors
Discerning God's will often involves recognizing when He is closing doors and trusting that He will open the right ones in His timing. Life's uncertainties can be daunting, but patience and faith are essential as we navigate these challenges. Trusting in God's timing requires us to let go of our own plans and desires, believing that He knows what is best for us. By doing so, we can find peace in the midst of uncertainty, knowing that God is in control and will guide us according to His perfect plan. [02:52]
"For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven." (Ecclesiastes 3:1, ESV)
Reflection: Can you identify a situation in your life where you need to trust God's timing? How can you practice patience and faith in this area today?
Day 3: The Importance of Obedience to God's Instructions
Obedience to God's instructions is vital, as disobedience can hinder His work in our lives. We must be willing to surrender our ambitions and desires to the Lord, trusting that He will perfect the work He has begun in us. Partial obedience, like that of Abraham, can delay the fulfillment of God's promises. Therefore, it is essential to fully commit to following God's guidance, even when it requires sacrifice or challenges our personal desires. By doing so, we open ourselves to the fullness of God's blessings and the completion of His work in our lives. [08:44]
"But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves." (James 1:22, ESV)
Reflection: Is there an area in your life where you have been partially obedient to God? What steps can you take to fully surrender this area to Him today?
Day 4: Cultivating Gratitude and Avoiding Grumbling
Maintaining a heart of gratitude and avoiding grumbling or disputing are essential attitudes for shining as lights in a world that needs the hope of Christ. Our example can draw others to the love and humility of Jesus. By cultivating gratitude, we can transform our perspective and become beacons of hope and encouragement to those around us. This requires a conscious effort to focus on the blessings in our lives and to respond to challenges with a spirit of thankfulness and grace. [12:33]
"Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world." (Philippians 2:14-15, ESV)
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you tend to grumble or complain? How can you shift your perspective to cultivate gratitude in this area today?
Day 5: Seeking Christ's Interests Above Our Own
Seeking the interests of Christ above our own enables us to be effective witnesses and fulfill the ministries God has entrusted to us. We must be faithful with the little things so that He can entrust us with larger responsibilities. This requires a selfless attitude and a willingness to prioritize the needs of others and the advancement of God's kingdom over our personal desires. By doing so, we can make a meaningful impact in the lives of those around us and bring glory to God through our actions and decisions. [16:04]
"Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others." (Philippians 2:4, ESV)
Reflection: How can you prioritize the interests of Christ in your daily interactions and decisions? What is one specific way you can serve others today in a manner that reflects Christ's love and humility?
Sermon Summary
In today's message, I shared personal experiences and reflections on the importance of keeping Jesus at the center of our lives, especially amidst the busyness and distractions of daily responsibilities. As the head of my household, I often find myself caught up in the cares of life, the pursuit of success, and the desire for material wealth. However, I am reminded that these should not be the focal points of my life. Instead, I must prioritize my relationship with the Lord and ensure that my actions and decisions align with His will.
I recounted my journey of purchasing a business, a decision that required a significant step of faith. Despite initial fears and challenges, such as the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, I witnessed God's provision and guidance. This experience taught me the importance of discerning God's will and being patient, even when circumstances seem unfavorable. It is crucial to recognize when God is closing doors and to trust that He will open the right ones in His timing.
Furthermore, I emphasized the need for obedience to God's instructions, as disobedience can hinder His work in our lives. Drawing from the example of Abraham, I highlighted how partial obedience can delay the fulfillment of God's promises. We must be willing to surrender our ambitions and desires to the Lord, trusting that He will perfect the work He has begun in us.
In our spiritual journey, it is essential to maintain a heart of gratitude and avoid grumbling or disputing, as these attitudes can dim our light in a world that desperately needs the hope of Christ. We are called to be examples of Christ's love and humility, both in our families and in our interactions with others. By seeking the interests of Christ above our own, we can be effective witnesses and fulfill the ministries God has entrusted to us.

Sermon Clips
In the midst of it all, I need to keep Jesus centered, and that starts with me personally as the head of the home. I struggle with that. I get caught up in the cares of life, desires for riches, desires for pleasure, and I need to rip those thorns out of my life. I need to keep my eyes on the Lord so we can bear fruit. [00:24:32]
We need to keep our priorities straight. It doesn't mean you don't do your job. You do do your job, but you need to know that it's in its proper place, and that's not what your life revolves around. Maybe the Lord will ask me on that judgment day how I ran my business. I'm sure he will, but he's not going to ask how successful it was. [01:01:03]
We can't be afraid to take a step of faith in the direction. It was a huge step of faith for me to buy this business. I'd never owned a business. It was in an industry that I didn't know anything about, but I felt the Lord wanted me to do it, and I was very grateful that he opened the door because it met the needs of my family at the time. [01:10:08]
Many times we're trying to kick a door open when the door has not been opened, and you need to stay in your place when the Lord has not opened a door for you somewhere else. He will make it very clear to you. The owner of the business that I bought called me one day and said, would you be interested in purchasing the business? [02:48:00]
You need to discern for your own situation what the Lord's will is for your life. If you're in a circumstance and you realize, hey, you know what, we've kind of outgrown our situation, then we need to make a decision. I remember about six months ago the Lord put it on her heart that I need to sell my house. [06:04:00]
The Lord is doing a work. Now, how can we hinder the work of the Lord in our life? Is that we don't be obedient. The Lord's work was hindered in Abraham's life because he wasn't obedient to do the thing that God asked him to do, and so he could only go so far. [08:36:24]
Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may prove yourselves to be blameless and innocent children of God. We have children here in the midst. We have lots of kids. I have my daughter Alana and Isaac, and I'll tell you one thing that we like to do at our home is sometimes we like to grumble and complain. [11:01:44]
We need to do both. We need to appear as lights in this world. Those are the things, and it says we have to hold fast the word of Christ so that on the day of Christ I may have caused the glory because I did not run in vain nor toil in vain. I didn't work over you as Christians in vain. [13:31:92]
Do you seek after your own interests or do you seek after the interests of Christ Jesus? And that's the question you should ask yourself. Paul could only find one younger brother out of all the assemblies and the churches that he was in. It was only Timothy who had that one desire, and that was to do the will of God and have Christ's interest above his own. [15:16:39]
Wherever the Lord has put you, he's given you a ministry to be a sermon, to serve with gladness, to not grumble or complain, and that's the thing that the Lord has entrusted you. I said, brother, I said to this brother, I said, you know what, the Lord hasn't entrusted us to go and start preaching the gospel, brother. [17:58:64]
If the Lord has not given you a ministry and you feel you could have a better position at a better church, then by all means, I recommend you to go find that position, but that might not be the position that the Lord wanted for you because you're seeking after your own interests, not the interests of Christ Jesus. [19:37:04]
Let us not be so high-minded that we think that we need this type of ministry when, brothers, I don't, we don't deserve a ministry. The Lord is the one who will entrust us. He will give it to us at the proper time if he sees us fit, if we've passed the tests, if we're faithful with the little things so that he can entrust us large things. [20:01:20]
