Faith is not a vague wish or a product of our imagination. It is a solid, substantive confidence based on the reality of God’s promises. This assurance allows us to be certain of things we cannot yet see with our physical eyes. It is a multi-dimensional reality that anchors our souls in eternity. We can live with a proven confidence that what God has said will come to pass. [03:44]
Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
Hebrews 11:1 (NIV)
Reflection: What is one situation in your life right now where God is inviting you to exercise confidence in what you hope for, rather than relying solely on what you can currently see?
Our natural vision is often limited and self-deceptive, overlooking things we don't wish to confront. A godly perspective calls us to look beyond the immediate and see ourselves, others, and our world through the lens of His love and power. It is about perceiving the potential and purpose that God has placed within every person and circumstance. This vision is a gift that reorients our entire lives. [07:48]
The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.
1 Samuel 16:7b (NIV)
Reflection: Where is God challenging you to shift your perspective from merely looking at the outward appearance of a situation to truly seeing its potential through His eyes?
The same light that dwells in Christ now shines through His followers. We are not the source, but we are the vessels through which His brilliant hope cuts through the darkness. This calling is not for our own benefit but for the sake of those who are lost and hopeless. We are to be a visible, steady beacon that helps others find their way home. [21:02]
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Matthew 5:14 (NIV)
Reflection: In your daily routines and relationships, what is one practical way you can more intentionally let the light of Christ’s love shine through you this week?
Answering God’s call means leaving the safety of the shore to row into the turbulent waves. It is a daring, selfless, and generous response to the need around us. This mission involves risk and sacrifice, driven by a compassion that compels us to action. We are called to participate in God's rescue mission for a world that is drowning. [19:23]
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
Isaiah 6:8 (NIV)
Reflection: What is one area of your life where God is asking you to push your "coracle" out from the comfort of the shore and trust Him in the unknown?
God has fashioned each person for a unique and extraordinary purpose. This purpose involves specific things He calls us to see, to do, and to be. It is a journey of surrender, asking Jesus to be the Lord of every area of our lives. Living out this purpose is how we make an eternal impact for His kingdom. [32:05]
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)
Reflection: As you prayerfully consider the year ahead, what is the next step God is highlighting for you to move more fully into the extraordinary purpose He has for your life?
As the year begins, a bold call to vision and faithful action shapes a community formed to shine God's light into darkness. The narrative traces the church’s origin from a providential prompting to a defining vision: a lighthouse standing against storms, launching rescue missions into turbulent seas. Faith is reframed not as wishful thinking but as hypostasis—a solid, pragmatic certainty rooted in the reality of God and the unseen dimensions of heaven. That faith enables people to see who they can become through the Holy Spirit, to understand the practical work they can do through the gospel, and to bring hope, help, and healing into broken lives.
The lighthouse metaphor becomes an ecclesial identity: a people indwelt by Christ’s light who will not hide it but will orient others toward home. Practical expression of this identity is spelled out in character and mission—being faithful (trusting God for the impossible), selfless (reorienting life toward others), daring (risking comfort for kingdom purposes), generous, familial, compassionate, local and global in scope. The community’s priorities flow from that identity: mission partnerships across nations, life-on-life groups that form gospel family, intentional church planting to bring life into towns and cities, and a relentless commitment to invite the lost into relationship with Jesus.
Personal application moves from vision to vocation. Each person is invited to consider what their extraordinary purpose requires them to see, to do, and to be—no longer living by default but stepping into concrete next steps of obedience. The invitation is both immediate and sustained: make Jesus Lord of all, stop deferring action, and allow the Spirit to empower witnessing, sacrifice, and community. The overarching conviction is that when people invest themselves in God’s purposes, God responds with transforming power; the lighthouse does not merely illuminate from shore but launches boats into the storm to rescue the lost.
As we start this new year, I wanna extend this invitation to you church. Let us all make a decision to put Jesus first in our lives, either he is Lord of all or not Lord at all. As we close off our prayer and fasting, as we start this brand new year, let's say to God, Lord, I am done living life my way. I want to live life with you, of you, and for you. I wanna live out my extraordinary purpose. I wanna know my calling. I wanna make an eternal impact in this world. Help me, Holy Spirit, to see, to do, and to be.

Jesus made this incredible statement. He said, I am the light of the world. And what he means by this is, his light is greater than the light of the moon. His light is greater than the light of the sun. The sun draws its source from Jesus. Jesus' light is stronger than any man made or created element that exists. Jesus is the ultimate light.
