Sermon Summary

Isaiah lifts his eyes to the throne, is cleansed by fire, then hears God ask, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for us?” Isaiah answers, “Here am I, send me.” That encounter sets the tone. God’s question still hangs in the room, and grace still presses people to say yes. The call to go is not mainly about personal ecstasy in worship. The call moves out toward people who have not been reached yet.

The season the church is in looks like harvest. Testimonies stack up, unconnected guests walk in, baptisms keep happening, and the Spirit is pouring out. Yet the harvest is not rest. Not everyone will be a prolific teacher, but everyone can carry the basics. Teaching a simple salvation study is just a testimony with Scripture in hand. Ephesians 4 names the aim. Christ gives leaders so the saints get equipped for the work of ministry. The goal is not to stack up gifted performers but to ready ordinary believers to open the Word with a coworker, a neighbor, a classmate.

God has already provided tools. There are long-form overviews that trace the promise through Scripture, and there are one-lesson studies that bring a hungry heart to repentance, water, and Spirit quickly. There are follow-ups that keep new believers close, with Bible in hand and friendships forming. Jesus said teach, baptize, teach. So the rhythm is relationship, Scripture, obedience, then more Scripture and more relationship.

Acts ties a bow on it. Daily temple life and house-to-house ministry lead straight into this line: “the number of disciples was multiplied.” That is the target. Additions excite, but multiplication of disciples endures. When every house carries Jesus, every saint carries a simple study, and the church treats harvest like work, God answers his own question with a people ready to say, “You can send me, Lord.”

So we've all gotta be able to engage at least at that level.”

“I put this in here as a comfort, not an insult. Not everyone is going to be a prolific teacher, but everyone should be able to teach the basic basics of god's word. I understand that we we don't have to look very hard at scripture. We can go right to Romans twelve, first Corinthians 12. We could talk about spiritual gifts. There are those who have the gift of teaching. They're gonna pick up a bible study chart or a pamphlet or a microphone and god is gonna use them super supernaturally, and it's gonna come easy, and they're gonna enjoy it, and it's gonna be great. And there are others that are really gonna have a hard time with it. They're really gonna be intimidated by it. They're gonna struggle with that. I'm not presenting bible studies over and over and over again as if everybody should just naturally pick it up and be great at it and go and teach 5,000 bible studies. But every single born again Christian should be able to teach a lost person how to be saved.”

“But more than that, I want us to recognize that this says of the early church that it wasn't just daily in the temple, but in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ. Does anybody get an out? says when it came to the early church, every house, I don't think things are in the word of god accidentally. When you start to do a little bit of a study on this, every house, you'll find all through the book of Acts that every house is a key component to their revival and their growth. Even Saul prior to his conversion when he set out to to stop the forward progress of the church, we never read of him going into the temple to arrest people. But when you you go back and you read through that, he would go into the homes where they were meeting. He was trying to stop the progression of the word of god by keeping it out of the home. It's so important that we have the word of god being talked about in our homes, within our own families, and through evangelistic efforts of teaching home bible studies.”
