#BeBrutallyHonest
“``David, a man after God's own heart. And what is David doing? Brutally honest. If you are hurting can learn something just from Psalm 38 here? If you're hurting, be brutally honest. Tell somebody. Tell somebody. I didn't say post it online. Tell somebody and bring it to God. What David does right here is he brings it to God. God is big enough he can handle what you're going through. He wants you to tell him what you're experiencing. He wants you to tell him the pain that you feel. He wants you to tell him how you feel. I don't feel like there's any hope in this. This is what David does. Be brutally honest and then bring it to God.”

#StopSayingYes
“``But I disobeyed God's commandment to stop. There's only one time in Scripture where we're told the work is finished, and it's not you and I. It's Jesus on the cross. He says, It is finished. And then Jesus retired at age 33 because there was no more work to do. His mission was complete. But your work and my work will never end. Some of you are more busy today because you retired because you continue to say yes to stuff. And you're like, I thought retirement was gonna be restful. Just continue to work and work and work and work.”

#HonorTheSabbath
“``and here's what God's word says. Honor the Sabbath day and keep it holy. For in six days, God created the universe. On the seventh day, what did he do? He stopped and rested. That is model for our life. So here's here's what this looks like in your world and in my world. You have a finish line every day. It doesn't mean the work is done. It means you're stopping. You have a finish line every week. You have a finish line where you stop, and then you trust God with the results because here's the lies that I believed in my life. I believed, number one, that God needed me. It's a very proud, selfish statement to believe. God doesn't need me. He invites me into what he's doing. God doesn't need you. We are all replaceable in this room.”

#GraceNotGuilt
“``Maybe we've done that as well. Now, if you're in Jesus, if you're in Jesus, if you know Jesus, Romans eight one says, there's now no condemnation for those in Christ. Just please hear that. You're not sick because you did something wrong. Something difficult happened in your life isn't the direct result of you did something wrong. Do we believe God's word? Romans eight one. There is now no kind of if you're in Christ, God's not angry with you. God's not out to get you. I was talking to a group of people, new group of people that I'm now associated with because I found a new gym, not a man named Jim, but a gymnasium.”

#WaitingOnGod
“``Someday, I may preach a sermon called But God, because there's a lot of but gods in scripture, and it didn't end with David at his lowest point. Verse 15, but for you, oh Lord, but for you do I wait. There's something divine about waiting, sitting and waiting. God, I've done everything I can do. Now, I'm gonna trust you for what you only can do. It is you, O Lord, my God, who will answer. For I said, only let them not replace rejoice over me who boast against me when my foot slips. There's been a lot of but gods in Scripture at our lowest point, but God. It's not always in our time. Some of us have been in seasons of great pain and hurt for years and years and years. And others of us, it's been a short term. But, God, but, God, but for you, oh, Lord, do I wait?”

#DisciplineIsLove
“``Now God disciplines those he loves, so there are times we will feel the discipline of God in a gentle, loving way to get us to do things that he wants us to do because he loves us. He's not throwing arrows at you. Please hear that. Just because you're going through something difficult and hard, God's not out to get you. God loves you, but David is feeling he's feeling as though God's out to get him.”

#HumanBeingsNotDoings
“``Elijah, you just ran six marathons. You're dehydrated. Speak. You're dehydrated. You need to drink water. He ate and drank, and then what happened? He took another nap. Sometimes one nap isn't enough. Two naps. And the angel of the Lord came again a second time and touched him and said, Arise and eat. We're human beings, not human doings. Right? You've heard that. Rest is good for your soul, and some of us are just built to just go, go, go, go. We think that we just need to get up, continue to work and work and work and work. Yes. Work. When you're at your job, work. We, Christians, should be the best workers in the world. We have a good work ethic, And then we work hard, and we play hard, and we rest hard.”

#GodMeetsYouWhereYouAre
“``He cares for you enough to let you lay down and take a nap and serve you bread. My wife is in this whole sourdough thing right now, and it is an act of love. She shows up to my daughters' homes and sometimes their work environments and says, Share this with your coworkers. It's not about the bread. It is an act of love. I want you to know God meets you where you are, and you're hurting and you're pain, and says, Take a nap, and then I've got and then you that's not all. Keep reading. Listen to this.”
