God has given us a specific blueprint for our lives, found in His Word, and calls us to build according to His design rather than our own opinions or the shifting standards of the world. When we neglect or lose the Word, we lose our way, but when we rediscover and obey it, revival and transformation break out in our lives and communities. The story of Josiah in 2 Kings 22 reminds us that even with good intentions, we need God’s original design to experience His presence and blessing. Are you building your life on what feels good or on the unchanging blueprint of God? [53:34]
2 Kings 22:8-13 (ESV)
And Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. And Shaphan the secretary came to the king, and reported to the king, “Your servants have emptied out the money that was found in the house and have delivered it into the hand of the workmen who have the oversight of the house of the Lord.” Then Shaphan the secretary told the king, “Hilkiah the priest has given me a book.” And Shaphan read it before the king. When the king heard the words of the Book of the Law, he tore his clothes. And the king commanded Hilkiah the priest, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Achbor the son of Micaiah, and Shaphan the secretary, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, “Go, inquire of the Lord for me, and for the people, and for all Judah, concerning the words of this book that has been found. For great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you’ve been building on your own ideas or the world’s advice instead of God’s Word? What would it look like to rebuild that area according to God’s blueprint this week?
God sets before us a clear choice: life and blessing or death and curse, and the determining factor is whether we hold fast to His Word and teach it to the next generation. The blessings of God flow when we put Him first and live by His commands, but when we reject His Word, we step outside of His protection and let “life life.” The call is to choose life—not just for ourselves, but for our descendants—by making God’s Word the foundation of our homes and legacy. [01:02:53]
Deuteronomy 30:19 (ESV)
“I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Therefore choose life, that you and your offspring may live.”
Reflection: What is one practical way you can choose God’s Word over the world’s ways today, especially in a decision that will impact your family or those who come after you?
Jesus is not only the giver of the Word—He is the Word made flesh, full of grace and truth, and everything that was made was made through Him. Building your life on anything other than Jesus and His Word may seem to work for a while, but only what is built on the Rock will stand when storms come. The wisdom of the world, no matter how popular or persuasive, cannot replace the eternal truth and creative power of Jesus, the living blueprint. [01:09:41]
John 1:1-3, 14 (ESV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. … And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
Reflection: Where are you tempted to trust popular voices or your own “truth” over the words of Jesus? How can you intentionally make Jesus and His Word your foundation today?
God invites us to seek His wisdom above all else, just as Solomon did, and to offer Him not the minimum, but our very best in worship and obedience. When we sow humility and extravagant devotion, God responds with favor, blessing, and opportunities beyond what we could ask or imagine. The blueprint for a life of impact and legacy is not found in doing just enough, but in going above and beyond in our pursuit of God and His presence. [01:22:51]
1 Kings 3:4-5, 9-13 (ESV)
And the king went to Gibeon to sacrifice there, for that was the great high place. Solomon used to offer a thousand burnt offerings on that altar. At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.” … “Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, that I may discern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?” It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, behold, I now do according to your word. Behold, I give you a wise and discerning mind, so that none like you has been before you and none like you shall arise after you. I give you also what you have not asked, both riches and honor, so that no other king shall compare with you, all your days.”
Reflection: If God asked you today, “What do you want me to do for you?” what would you ask for? How can you show God your gratitude and devotion in a tangible way this week?
The Word of God is not just information; it is living, powerful, and able to transform your heart, renew your mind, and change your life from the inside out. When you meditate on, declare, and act on God’s promises, you align your life with His blueprint and experience His supernatural results. Don’t settle for casual engagement with Scripture—let it wash over you, shape your identity, and fuel your faith for every circumstance you face. [01:41:47]
Hebrews 4:12 (ESV)
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Reflection: What is one promise from God’s Word you need to meditate on, declare, and act upon this week? How will you let it move from your head to your heart and into your daily actions?
God’s goodness is evident in every season, and there is no greater privilege than to be rooted in His purpose and presence. As we reflect on the legacy we are called to leave, it becomes clear that only an eternal legacy—one built on God’s Word—truly endures. The material things we accumulate will fade, but the impact of a life lived according to God’s blueprint will echo through generations. Psalm 145 reminds us that one generation is to commend God’s works to another, and this is the heart of living with legacy: sharing what God has done, not just for us, but through us.
Looking at 2 Kings 22, we see a nation in crisis because the Word of God had been lost and neglected. When Josiah, a young king, rediscovered the Book of the Law, it sparked revival and transformation. This is a powerful reminder that the Word is not just a book—it is the blueprint for our lives. When we lose sight of God’s Word, we lose our way. But when we return to it, we find renewal, direction, and breakthrough.
God’s blueprint is intentional and specific. Just as the temple had to be built according to God’s design for His presence to dwell, so our lives must be built on His Word, not on our own ideas or the shifting opinions of culture. Jesus is the living Word, and everything that was made was made through Him. If we want to build something that lasts, we must align our lives with His truth, not just what feels right or what is popular.
In a world overflowing with information and voices, it’s easy to get lost or distracted. But God’s Word is not just informational—it is transformational. It reveals who we are in Christ, washes away shame, and gives us wisdom for every area of life. We are called to meditate on it, declare it, and act on it. When we do, we experience the abundant life Jesus promised, and we become people who leave a legacy that matters.
2 Kings 22:8-13 (ESV) — > And Hilkiah the high priest said to Shaphan the secretary, “I have found the Book of the Law in the house of the Lord.” And Hilkiah gave the book to Shaphan, and he read it. For great is the wrath of the Lord that is kindled against us, because our fathers have not obeyed the words of this book, to do according to all that is written concerning us.”
Psalm 145:4 (ESV) — > One generation shall commend your works to another, and shall declare your mighty acts.
John 1:1, 14 (ESV) — > In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.
When the word of God is refound, when the word of God is received, when the word of God is restored, revival breaks out. Breakthrough happens. Lives are transformed. Hearts are renewed. His word is a lamp. His word is a light. His word is the blueprint. [00:57:07] (21 seconds) #RevivalThroughTheWord
Your truth does not cancel out the truth. The truth you choose to live is your prerogative. It's my prerogative. You can do what you feel, but you're going to get what you feel. You're going to get what you sow. [01:09:15] (19 seconds) #TruthInAction
That's the most transforming part of God's word is when you discover who you are in Jesus. Psalms 107 .20, he sent his word and healed them and delivered them from their destructions. Ephesians 5 .26, that he might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of the water of the word. God washes the shame and the sin right off of you. Psalms 32 says when you are saved and you confess your sin, you are washed. And not only that, you are blessed. Tell your neighbor, you're blessed. Don't hide it. Confess it. It washes us. It reminds you that you're valuable. So valuable, Jesus gave his life for you. [01:35:20] (51 seconds) #WashedAndBlessed
