Building a Strong Foundation Amid Life's Storms

1) "Because the reality is, many of us are experiencing storms. We're either going into a storm, we're in a storm, or we're coming out of a storm. That's life. If you lived and you're really doing, like you're figuring this, you know that life is a series of storms. It's a series of tests whether my foundation is firm. And here we are in week two of firm foundation, deciding in our lives, are we going to have a foundation on God or on the world? I'll let you know, for my life, the times where I've trusted me more than God, I've failed over and over. But the times in my life where I've trusted God more than me, I've watched myself flourish. I've watched my life, I've watched my kids over and over again flourish. Because the quality of your foundation will lead to your ability to stand through storms, hard times, difficult moments." 2) "Faithful followers are never surprised by the world. Faithful followers aren't surprised when the world's crazy. Faithful followers aren't surprised when they see something on TV and they watch it and they think, oh. That's not what they're surprised about. That's not what their reaction is. That's not what they walk through. Faithful followers of Jesus trust God in every scenario. And Daniel in this moment is in distrust of God. Why would you do this? He says, God, you are faithful, so I'm going to be faithful. If you're in the room today and you got gray hair or no hair, you've seen some things." 3) "See, honestly, it probably shouldn't enrage us when we see something on TV that offends you as a Christian. It shouldn't enrage you. It should inspire you that there's still more people lost who don't know Jesus yet. That we got to let people know that there's light in the world and it's Jesus. There's salt in the world and it's Jesus. There's hope for this lost and dying world. There's hope. But so often I see Facebook Christianity. Woo! Woo! Facebook Christianity. What a wild idea. Posting how offended you are. Come on, I want to see you post how inspired you are. If that's the way the world's going to act, I want to let them know how much God loves them." 4) "See, at some point of our life, we're going to stop fighting with the world and start fighting for the world. We're going to stop fighting with the world. And we're going to stop fighting for the world. We're going to stop fighting for the world. I want to fight for people's love. I want to fight for people's care. I want to fight for people in every area of their life. But you also have to know we're not in a culture war. I'm not in a battle with the world. My battle is not with the world. 5) "See, your foundation does not determine your storm. Your foundation determines your success in the storm. Your foundation does not determine the storm. Difficult times are coming. Harder days ahead. But what's your foundation gonna be in that storm? I told you at the beginning that our family just moved here from Seattle. And we're really loving it. What I've noticed, pros, cons, that North County has, it has the sun a lot more. And I like that. I like that so far. We never planned on leaving Seattle. We never planned on moving here." 6) "If you're following Jesus, and maybe you're new to it, or maybe you're not, can I tell you that the Bible doesn't value risk, but it values obedience. There's a moment that's risky in the Bible. When God says go, you say yes. And you don't need to have the plan, but you need to know his presence is with me, so your servant's gonna go. In the midst of the no's, and why are we doing this, and absolutely not, and what about my friends? Our eldest son, Boston, looked at us and goes, if we're moving, you're buying us a dog, though." 7) "Because the foundation you're building your life on, let me tell you this, the foundation you're building your life on is the foundation you're building your life on. The foundation you're building your life on is the foundation you're building your life on. The foundation you're building your family on. Don't get it twisted. It starts with you. If you're not the one, husbands, calling out your family to come to church, to hear God's word, so your kids can be a part of DK and Daybreak Youth, don't be so surprised why your kids wander from Jesus. 8) "Faithful followers are not surprised by God. Can I say that again? Faithful followers. You're walking with, you're not surprised by God. When I say surprised, I think we hear the word, we're shocked. Oh my word, so surprised. Oh my word. That's not the surprise. I'm talking about awe. The awe of like, of God doing wondrous works in our life. You know what I love about Daybreak? I love that video we saw of Rachel. The first girl. The first girl.
