Building a Moral Foundation Through Faith and Family
Summary
In today's message, I emphasized the critical role of the church in shaping the moral fabric of our nation. The Constitution of the United States, as envisioned by its framers, was designed to govern a moral people. However, without a strong moral compass, which is rooted in the teachings of the Bible, the Constitution cannot function effectively. Our morals do not originate from our workplaces or government but from the Word of God. It is our responsibility to diligently teach these values to our children, as they are like sponges, absorbing everything around them.
The importance of instilling biblical values in our children cannot be overstated. We must engage in constant conversations with them about Jesus, the significance of church, and living a virtuous life. This is why the church must be the solution to America's problems. If we fail to raise our children in a way that honors God, we are failing in our duty as parents and as a community. Our actions and the environment we create at home should reflect our faith, as our children are always watching and learning from us.
The ceremony of baby dedication is a public commitment to raise our children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. It is not just a ritual but a solemn promise to guide them in the ways of God. This dedication is more about the parents and the church committing to teach the child about God, leading them to eventually put their faith in Jesus Christ. As a church, we must unite in this mission, supporting each other in raising children who will grow up to be part of the solution, not the problem.

Day 1: The Constitution's Moral Foundation
The Constitution of the United States was crafted to govern a moral people, and its effectiveness is contingent upon a strong moral compass rooted in the teachings of the Bible. Without this foundation, the Constitution cannot function as intended. Our morals should not be derived from secular sources such as workplaces or government but should be deeply embedded in the Word of God. This understanding calls for a return to biblical principles as the guiding force for our nation's governance. The church plays a pivotal role in this, as it is tasked with teaching and upholding these values within the community. [26:31]
"Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Proverbs 14:34, ESV)
Reflection: In what ways can you actively promote biblical values in your community to support the moral foundation of our nation?
Day 2: Children as Absorbers of Faith
Children are incredibly perceptive and absorb everything around them, making it crucial for parents and guardians to engage in constant conversations about Jesus, the importance of church, and living a virtuous life. The environment created at home should reflect one's faith, as children learn by observing the actions and attitudes of those around them. This responsibility extends beyond mere words; it requires living out one's faith authentically and consistently. [27:48]
"Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it." (Proverbs 22:6, ESV)
Reflection: How can you create a home environment that consistently reflects your faith and encourages your children to grow in their relationship with God?
Day 3: The Church's Role in Society
The church is called to be the solution to America's problems by raising children in a way that honors God. This involves a collective effort from parents and the church community to instill biblical values in the next generation. If this duty is neglected, both parents and the community fail in their responsibilities. Children are always watching and learning, making it imperative for the church to unite in this mission and support each other in raising children who will contribute positively to society. [29:36]
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near." (Hebrews 10:24-25, ESV)
Reflection: What specific steps can you take to support your church community in its mission to raise children who honor God?
Day 4: The Significance of Baby Dedication
Baby dedication is more than a ritual; it is a public commitment by parents and the church to raise children in the fear and admonition of the Lord. This dedication involves guiding children in the ways of God, with the hope that they will eventually put their faith in Jesus Christ. It is a solemn promise that requires the support and unity of the church community to fulfill. [30:42]
"Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward." (Psalm 127:3, ESV)
Reflection: How can you actively participate in supporting families within your church who are committed to raising their children in the faith?
Day 5: Uniting in Faith and Values
As a church, there is a collective mission to raise children who will grow up to be part of the solution, not the problem. This requires creating an environment that reflects faith and values, supporting each other in this endeavor. The church and family must work together, forming a covenant to teach and guide the next generation in the ways of God. [47:15]
"Only take care, and keep your soul diligently, lest you forget the things that your eyes have seen, and lest they depart from your heart all the days of your life. Make them known to your children and your children's children." (Deuteronomy 4:9, ESV)
Reflection: What role can you play in fostering a church environment that supports families in their spiritual journey and commitment to raising godly children?
Quotes
The Constitution of America can only work if it's guiding and leading a moral people. A people without a moral compass, the Constitution of the United States will fail. The framers said when they wrote it, they said the Constitution will only work to govern a moral people. [00:26:19]
Your morals come from this book right here if somebody was teaching you this book, if somebody was teaching you what God's word says, that's where your morals come from, that's where your virtue comes from, not from some other source. It's got to come from here. [00:27:08]
What are kids? They're sponges. They soak up everything around them. A young child is just like a sponge. Everything that we input into them, it's going in there. How many of you have had a conversation with your child about Jesus, the importance and the necessity of being in church? [00:27:48]
If we're not raising our children to live lives that would bring glory and honor to God, what are we doing? Because I remind you, you're teaching them something. You don't have an option. As soon as you give birth to that child, you are leading them one way or the other. [00:29:36]
Why do we do a baby dedication? We're saying very much before the church, we're saying we're going to raise up this child with your help and with the Lord's Grace. We're going to raise up this child in fear and admonition of the Lord because we want to raise this child to be an upstanding citizen. [00:30:42]
Are you living out the life that you say here that you believe? You say God is Holy and I love God, I love the Lord Jesus Christ, I love everything about the church, I love everything about his word, but when you walk out that door, are you turning into a different person? [00:31:17]
Our country is where it's at because we're not raising our children to live virtuous moral Lifestyles. What do we do? A young man that goes out and has a rendezvous with a young lady, we pat him on the back. I got taken to task this week at work because I said in the eyes of God, heterosexual sin is just as wrong as homosexual sin. [00:32:25]
Until we get back to a place to where we begin to teach the truth of God's word and we teach our children to love God, to love his word, to love a holy lifestyle, to love these things, we can expect our country to just continue down that same old path. [00:33:34]
We've got to start teaching these children right from wrong. Where do we learn that? From God's word. We've got to teach our kids that the things of this world, while they may look flashy, it may look like low hanging fruit, it may look like fun, but dear brother and sister, I ask you, what keeps you up at night? [00:35:16]
It means when somebody comes into your presence, is that glow that was on Moses's face when he come off of that Mountain. Have you spent time with Jesus? Do you look different? Why did the apostles, why did they look different? They said these are uneducated men, but they spent time with Jesus. [00:37:09]
I venture to say to you this morning that if America don't get back to what America was founded on and if America don't go back to teaching her kids to fear God, then I fear God's going to destroy us. People don't want to hear that message. They don't want to hear it. [00:38:19]
The act of dedication is in keeping with the teaching of God's word. An example is the dedication of Jesus by his parents. In this service dedication, we are first to give thanks to God for the creation and the birth of this child. Secondly, we are to make a solemn promise as parents and as a church. [00:45:09]
