Day 1: God Desires Wholeness—Nothing Missing, Nothing Broken
God’s heart for His people is that they experience true prosperity, which is not limited to finances but encompasses every area of life—health, relationships, peace, and purpose. Biblical prosperity, or “shalom,” means nothing missing and nothing broken, a state where God’s provision is complete and every need is met. When we align our souls with this truth, we can live free from anxiety and lack, stepping into the fullness of what God intends for us. Imagine the freedom and impact you could have if you were not held captive by thoughts of lack or limitation, but instead lived from a place of God’s abundant supply. [04:15]
3 John 1:2 (ESV) Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul.
Reflection: In what area of your life do you most feel “something is missing or broken”? Ask God to show you how He wants to bring His wholeness and provision into that area today.
Day 2: The Battle for Peace—Guarding Your Heart Against Worry
Peace is the spiritual force that enables God’s provision to flow in your life, and the enemy’s first strategy is to steal your peace through fear, worry, and anxiety. When peace is lost, faith is hindered, and God’s blessings are blocked. The enemy works overtime to magnify your needs and distract you with anxious thoughts, but God’s desire is for you to rest in His shalom, trusting that He takes pleasure in your prosperity and well-being. Guarding your peace is not just about feeling calm—it’s about keeping the channel open for God’s provision and presence in every circumstance. [07:40]
Psalm 35:27 (ESV) Let those who delight in my righteousness shout for joy and be glad and say evermore, “Great is the Lord, who delights in the welfare of his servant!”
Reflection: What is one recurring worry or anxious thought that tries to steal your peace? How can you intentionally surrender it to God and choose His peace today?
Day 3: The Treasure Test—Where Your Heart Truly Rests
Where you place your treasure—your time, resources, attention, and priorities—reveals where your heart truly is. God calls us to submit all that we possess to Him, making Him first in every area of our lives. When God is preeminent, His blessing flows; when He is last, we expose ourselves to lack and the enemy’s influence. The treasure test is not just about money, but about every possession and priority—are you holding tightly to them, or are you entrusting them to God’s care and authority? [21:17]
Matthew 6:19-21 (ESV) “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
Reflection: What is one area—time, finances, relationships, or thoughts—where you sense God is asking you to put Him first? What practical step can you take today to submit that area to Him?
Day 4: The Throne Test—Who Has Authority Over Your Life?
You cannot serve two masters; the authority you submit to determines the supply you experience. If you look to the world’s systems, your own efforts, or the spirit of Mammon as your source, you place yourself under their authority and forfeit God’s provision. But when you place every area of your life under God’s authority, He becomes your provider, and His supply flows freely. The enemy seeks to magnify your needs so that they take the throne of your heart, but God calls you to dethrone every idol and enthrone Him as Lord over all. [25:06]
Matthew 6:24 (ESV) “No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Reflection: When a need arises, what is the first source you turn to for help or provision? How can you shift your focus today to look to God as your ultimate provider?
Day 5: Seek First the Kingdom—Breaking Free from the Grip of Mammon
The world’s system, rooted in the spirit of Mammon, enslaves through debt, lack, and the relentless pursuit of more, but Jesus offers a different way: seek first God’s kingdom and His righteousness, and all your needs will be met. Worry is illegal in God’s kingdom; instead, He invites you to trust Him, break agreement with the world’s economy, and live under His supernatural provision. As you shift your loyalty and focus from earthly gain to God’s purposes, you step into freedom, abundance, and the ability to bless others as He leads. [17:33]
Matthew 6:31-33 (ESV) “Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.”
Reflection: What is one practical way you can “seek first the kingdom” in your daily routine this week, trusting God to provide for your needs as you do?
Sermon Summary
Today, we confronted the subtle but powerful influence of the spirit of Mammon—a spiritual force that seeks to enslave God’s people by shifting our focus from God as our provider to the pursuit of wealth, security, and self-sufficiency. Mammon is not simply money; it is a spirit that has operated since ancient times, from the Tower of Babel to the present day, shaping economic systems and tempting us to trust in material provision over God’s authority. The enemy’s strategy is to magnify our needs until they become the central focus of our lives, drawing us out from under God’s covering and into a system of lack, anxiety, and bondage.
God’s desire is for us to prosper and be in health, with nothing missing and nothing broken—shalom. Yet, the world’s system, rooted in the Babylonian model of debt and striving, constantly pressures us to worry, to chase after more, and to measure our worth by what we possess. Jesus made it clear: we cannot serve both God and Mammon. Where our treasure is, there our heart will be also. The battle is not just about money, but about the throne of our hearts—who or what we look to as our source and authority.
We explored three critical tests that reveal where our allegiance lies: the treasure test (where we place our resources and priorities), the attention test (what occupies our focus and thought life), and the throne test (who truly has authority over our lives). Each of these is a spiritual battleground where Mammon seeks to deceive us into believing that our needs are greater than God’s provision. The more we magnify our needs, the more we come under the authority of Mammon, and the less we experience the freedom and abundance God intends.
The way forward is not to strive harder within the world’s system, but to intentionally move our lives—our finances, relationships, and time—under God’s authority. When we submit every area to Him, we open ourselves to His supernatural provision and peace. Next week, we will look at practical steps to break Mammon’s grip and walk in true Kingdom prosperity, but today, let’s begin by recognizing where we have allowed need to take the throne, and return our hearts fully to God as our only source.
Key Takeaways
1. The spirit of Mammon is a deceptive force that operates by magnifying our needs until they become the central focus of our lives, drawing us away from God’s authority and provision. When need becomes our master, we unknowingly submit to a system of lack and anxiety, forfeiting the peace and abundance God desires for us. True freedom begins when we recognize this spiritual battle and refuse to let need sit on the throne of our hearts. [29:16]
2. Prosperity in God’s Kingdom is defined by shalom—nothing missing, nothing broken—not merely financial increase. The enemy’s first attack is always on our peace, because when our peace is stolen, the flow of God’s provision is hindered. Guarding our peace is a spiritual discipline that keeps us aligned with God’s supply, rather than the world’s system of striving and scarcity. [07:20]
3. Where we place our treasure—our time, resources, and priorities—reveals the true orientation of our hearts. Submission to God in every area is not about relinquishing control, but about inviting His blessing and protection. If God is not first in a particular area, that area is exposed to the curse and the enemy’s influence; but when He is preeminent, His provision and order follow. [22:19]
4. The authority we submit to determines the supply we experience. If we look to the economy, our jobs, or our own strategies as our source, we come under their limitations and anxieties. But when we place ourselves under God’s authority, His supernatural provision becomes our reality, just as it was in the Garden of Eden before sin. [26:24]
5. The Babylonian system, rooted in debt and self-sufficiency, is still at work today, enslaving people through the spirit of Mammon. The love of money is not about affection for cash, but about surrendering our lives to a false provider. Breaking free requires a conscious decision to move every area of our lives under God’s authority, trusting Him as our sole source and supply. [36:50]
1. 3 John 1:2 — "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth."
2. Matthew 6:19-24 — “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. The lamp of the body is the eye. If therefore your eye is good, your whole body will be full of light. But if your eye is bad, your whole body will be full of darkness. If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness! No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and Mammon.”
Observation Questions
According to 3 John 1:2, what does John say is his highest wish for believers?
In Matthew 6:19-21, what does Jesus say about where we store our treasures and the connection to our hearts?
What does Jesus mean when He says, “No one can serve two masters... You cannot serve God and Mammon”? ([14:26])
The sermon described three “tests” that reveal where our allegiance lies: the treasure test, the attention test, and the throne test. What is the basic idea behind each of these tests? ([19:21], [23:12], [24:52])
Interpretation Questions
The sermon says that Mammon is not just money, but a spiritual force that tries to take God’s place as our provider. How does this change the way we think about money and material things? ([02:12])
Jesus says, “Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” How does this challenge the way we prioritize our time, money, and attention? ([13:10])
The “attention test” is about what occupies our focus and thought life. Why do you think Jesus connects our focus (the eye) to the light or darkness in our lives? ([23:26])
The sermon teaches that the authority we submit to determines the supply we experience. What are some practical ways people might unknowingly place themselves under the authority of Mammon instead of God? ([26:24])
Application Questions
The sermon said that the spirit of Mammon works by magnifying our needs until they become the central focus of our lives. Can you think of a time when a need or worry became so big in your mind that it pushed God out of focus? What did that do to your peace? ([29:16])
Jesus says we cannot serve both God and Mammon. Are there areas in your life—finances, relationships, time—where you feel torn between trusting God and trusting in your own efforts or resources? What would it look like to move that area under God’s authority? ([14:26], [42:49])
The “treasure test” asks us to look at where we put our resources and priorities. If someone looked at your calendar and bank statement, what would they say is most important to you? Is there anything you want to change? ([21:17])
The “attention test” is about what fills our thoughts. What is one practical step you could take this week to shift your focus from worry or lack to God’s promises and provision? ([23:49])
The “throne test” is about who has real authority in our lives. Is there a specific area where you sense you’ve let need or anxiety sit on the throne instead of God? What would it look like to give that back to God? ([24:52])
The sermon described the world’s system as rooted in debt, striving, and self-sufficiency. Are there habits or patterns in your life that reflect this system? What is one step you could take to break free from that pattern? ([36:50])
The pastor said, “True freedom begins when we recognize this spiritual battle and refuse to let need sit on the throne of our hearts.” What is one way you can guard your peace and keep God first this week, even when needs or worries come up? ([07:20], [29:16])
Sermon Clips
Mammon is not money we'll learn shortly Mammon is a spirit that has a high level in the kingdom of darkness, actually one of the leading spirits in the kingdom of darkness is the spirit of Mammon and Mammon is so good at what he does that many people don't ever recognize his work in their life and all we do is see the fruit of Mammon the spirit of Mammon and we think there's other causes but today as I expose what the spirit of Mammon is trying to do in the church I believe that you will recognize where we've given him place and and we've got to kick them out today. [00:02:23]
God through John is saying that above all things he wishes that we prosper and be in health even as we are prospering inside in our soul that means the external fruit of the kingdom of light come on there's nothing missing in the kingdom of God there's nothing that goes without provision There Is No Lack There Is No Death everything that came as a result of sin and the Garden of Eden in God's kingdom is completely eradicated. [00:04:00]
A lot of times our lack of Earthly provision can be a way that the enemy totally controls our life on this Earth because many people spend every day of their life either thinking about worrying about or trying to get more money so that they can do dot dot dot whatever it is oh I just if I could just have more money I could fulfill what God's called me to do. [00:04:55]
Imagine if okay think about every major need that you have in life let's just think financially for a second even though Prosperity is more than finances actually no let's let's think about the whole thing Prosperity is nothing missing that means in your physical body whatever is missing and broken whatever is ailing is totally restored then think for a second in your relationships there's nothing missing and nothing broken peace in your marriage peace with your your children the crazy neighbor that you had all of a sudden comes and says I'm sorry repents and wants to be your best friend and come to church with you on Sunday. [00:09:59]
Now imagine the freedom you would have when your thought life is not held captive by everything you don't have or everything that hasn't happened yet what would you be doing right now if you had no lack think of the freedom that that represents this is where I want your mind to be because I as I I'm going to expose why we have so much lack in our life and scripturally speaking we're going to see how to get totally delivered and break that Spirit of mmon. [00:11:29]
It's so so easy to go the world's way to try to get God's results but you can't use the world's tools and get God's results you can only get God results by doing it God's way and God's way is not the easy way it's easy for him but your mind will fight it the whole time. [00:12:26]
No one can serve two masters for either he will hate the one and love the other or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other you can't serve God and Mammon let me read it slower again because this is a very harsh statement he said you can't serve two masters. [00:14:26]
If you're serving Mammon then you are closed off completely to everything God is and wants to do in and through your life because you're rejecting his lordship that's a that is a scary thing to hear let's keep reading to make sure we understand this then he goes on to say in verse 25 therefore excuse me. [00:16:19]
He said but seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these things will be added to you therefore do not worry at all about tomorrow for tomorrow will worry about its own things sufficient is the day for its own trouble so he now goes from talking about treasure to talking about eyes and light and darkness on the inside of us and then he goes on to talking about God and Mammon and you can only serve one of the two and then he says worry is illegal in My Kingdom don't worry instead of worrying seek first the kingdom of God and everything you were worrying about will automatically be added to your life you don't have to fast and pray for it beg God for it and have 38 prayer requests for it you just seek first my kingdom I know what you need I will provide everything that you need in this life. [00:17:06]
The treasure test is a heart test so he's saying this if I'm going to be able to provide all that you need I am Jehovah Gyra your provider so if God is our provider the scripture in the New Testament tells us that every need that we have has already been met in Christ Jesus that means Jesus already has provision for every need you'll ever have past present and future he's already met all of your needs before you were born so if you want to see his provision in your life the treasure test is first and the treasure test simply says where your treasure is there is your heart. [00:19:28]
Wherever you place what you are in possession of will show us if your heart is with that or with God so now we have to pass the treasure test which means we need to begin to submit whatever we have to God that doesn't mean every waking moment you're awake and every dollar you have you give to the church or give to online Christian Ministry no what I'm saying is is that your heart is connected to your treasure so if your heart is honoring of the Lord then he is preeminent in your life in that area. [00:21:40]
The third test is the throne test the throne test who is on the throne of your heart who has the authority who are you serving with your life now I'm going to explain how to figure that out in a second I want to give you a statement that's going to change your relationship with God because you're going to see how to get results from one statement this is the most important thing that you're going to learn even the Centurion in scripture learned this and Jesus said this is the greatest expression of Faith I've ever seen and here's the statement you need to understand Authority has Supply. [00:24:59]
The level you're submitted to God's Authority is is the level you'll experience his provision think of the Garden of Eden the Garden of Eden before sin Adam and Eve were under God's Authority his covering and the Bible tells us that everything they needed was supplied in abundance food was there they didn't have to work for it it was just provision was laying everywhere if they're hungry they had provision if they were cold they had covering anything they needed God said I will provide for you directly as soon as they sinned they went out from from under God's covering and place their uh their possessions under the covering of Satan who deceived them and at that moment the provision of God stopped. [00:28:00]
Need is the way that he get you out from under the authority of God why because if your need is your focus instead of him as your provider then you're saying my need is bigger than the provider than my provider right because if you really believed he was bigger then any need that was in front of you would be like easy do you know who my God is have you ever heard someone say that when you were struggling like God's man God's been faithful to me he's been so Faith man brother especially if you share a hard season with him you're like man I'm just struggling my faith and everything and I'm just I need I'm not trust in God like I brother just hey just believe the Lord man God's good just receive it just receive it that nothing makes you angrier when you're under a different covering because you're stressed out and worried when someone just says hey man God's faithful he's got it. [00:29:26]
This is how Mammon takes from the body of Christ if the body of Christ just had an ounce of the provision that the world has right now we could be doing so much for the kingdom of God but here's the problem if we're not stewarding the little we have and keeping it under God's Authority God is not able to provide and increase our lives so that we can be totally free to give to every good work we've got to shift that. [00:31:30]
It's no wonder that Jesus in his major sermon the second time he ever preached he is exposing this and saying let me tell you you can't be under that system and serve that system we're in America we're under that system whether we like it or not but you can't serve Mammon as your Source in that system and serve God he's either Jehovah Gyra your provider or Mammon Gyra your provider you pick who are you going to submit your life to choose one. [00:38:03]
The key to having increase in more is not doing better under that system, it's getting out from under that system and getting under the system of God now next week I'm going to tell you how how practically to break the spirit of Mammon because I want you to come back next Sunday and those that are watching online we might turn the cameras off and only those that are here are going to hear this next week.
