Bible ReadingIsaiah 42:10-13 “Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise from the ends of the earth,
You who go down to the sea, and all that is in it,
You coastlands and you inhabitants of them!
Let the wilderness and its cities lift up their voice,
The villages that Kedar inhabits.
Let the inhabitants of Sela sing,
Let them shout from the top of the mountains.
Let them give glory to the Lord,
And declare His praise in the coastlands.
The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man;
He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.
He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;
He shall prevail against His enemies.”
[04:28]Isaiah 43:1-7 “But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob,
And He who formed you, O Israel:
‘Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by your name;
You are Mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you.
When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned,
Nor shall the flame scorch you.
For I am the Lord your God,
The Holy One of Israel, your Savior;
I gave Egypt for your ransom,
Ethiopia and Seba in your place.
Since you were precious in My sight,
You have been honored,
And I have loved you;
Therefore I will give men for you,
And people for your life.
Fear not, for I am with you;
I will bring your descendants from the east,
And gather you from the west;
I will say to the north, ‘Give them up!’
And to the south, ‘Do not keep them back!’
Bring My sons from afar,
And My daughters from the ends of the earth—
Everyone who is called by My name,
Whom I have created for My glory;
I have formed him, yes, I have made him.’”
[06:24]Isaiah 44:21-23 “Remember these, O Jacob,
And Israel, for you are My servant;
I have formed you, you are My servant;
O Israel, you will not be forgotten by Me!
I have blotted out, like a thick cloud, your transgressions,
And like a cloud, your sins.
Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.”
Sing, O heavens, for the Lord has done it!
Shout, you lower parts of the earth;
Break forth into singing, you mountains,
O forest, and every tree in it!
For the Lord has redeemed Jacob,
And glorified Himself in Israel.
[34:27]Isaiah 44:6-8 “Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,
And his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
‘I am the First and I am the Last;
Besides Me there is no God.
And who can proclaim as I do?
Then let him declare it and set it in order for Me,
Since I appointed the ancient people.
And the things that are coming and shall come,
Let them show these to them.
Do not fear, nor be afraid;
Have I not told you from that time, and declared it?
You are My witnesses.
Is there a God besides Me?
Indeed there is no other Rock;
I know not one.’”
[25:30]Observation questions- In Isaiah 42:10-13, what places and groups of people are called to sing, shout, and give glory to the Lord? [04:28]
- In Isaiah 43:1-7, what specific words or phrases show God’s personal care and affection for His people?
- In Isaiah 43:15-21, what pictures are used to show that God is still at work for His people in the present and future? [10:46]
- In Isaiah 43:22-24, what signs showed that Israel had grown weary of worshiping God? [17:07]
Interpretation questions- Isaiah calls for a “new song” from the ends of the earth because the Lord will prevail against His enemies. How does God’s coming victory give His people a reason to worship even during exile, hardship, or uncertainty? [05:21]
- God says, “I have called you by your name; You are Mine,” and “I have loved you.” What do these words reveal about the kind of relationship God has with His people, and how should that shape the way His people think about worship? [07:42]
- Israel’s problem was not only that certain sacrifices were missing, but that they had become weary of God. What is the difference between missing a religious action once in a while and having a heart that is tired of worship? [20:48]
- Isaiah 44 says there is no other Rock besides God, and that idols leave a person holding “a lie” in the right hand. Why do good things like career, family, studies, or personal comfort become dangerous when they take God’s place? [27:38]
Application questions- Numbers can describe the Grand Canyon, but experience gives it meaning. In the same way, God’s greatness can remain only an idea unless a person stops to notice His work. What helps this group move from knowing truths about God to actually praising Him for them? [02:12]
- God’s people are called to declare His mighty works every day. What would it look like this week to stop, take a breath, and name one specific thing God has done in the past, is doing now, or is still promised to do? [13:11]
- Complaining often reveals where the heart is focused. In daily life, what kinds of complaints most easily crowd out praise, and how can those moments become reminders to speak about God’s goodness instead? [14:06]
- Worship can become mechanical when there is no preparation or intentionality. What practical changes could help prayer, singing, Bible reading, or gathered worship become more heartfelt and less automatic? [21:12]
- It is possible to say “thank You” and then immediately complain. Where does that kind of contradiction show up most easily—in meals, work, family life, church, or somewhere else—and what might honest repentance look like there? [22:22]
- Only God deserves the center. What is most likely to compete with Him for first place right now—success, convenience, family, comfort, approval, or self—and how can that idol be recognized before it quietly rules the heart? [28:24]
- God says, “Return to Me, for I have redeemed you.” If someone has grown cold, distracted, or weary in worship, what would returning to God actually look like this week in concrete terms? [36:40]
