“The first thing that surprises me is that you cannot actually outrun god. If you look at the text, in in the first chapter, it says that Hebrew is very explicit. He goes down to Joppa, down to the boat, down to the hull of the ship. And you see this this this depression or this degrading, and I'm just gonna tell you right now, this is this is probably not very popular, but anytime you run away from God, you're actually descending. When you run toward God, you're actually ascending. Paul says we go on from glory to glory.”

“And to me, you what that proves? That proves that you can be in the father's house and not understand the father's heart. And I got wrecked with that reality. Just because you attend church does not mean that you necessarily understand the heartbeat of God. And Jonah could have gone through the temple sacrifices. He could have been around the people of God. He could have done all of these things, but there was something internal to him. He did not understand that they were supposed to be a a light to the Gentiles.”

“But, really, what what is your Nineveh? What is the thing that you're already inclined to be skeptical of? What about that person? What about that situation? What about that ethnic group? Because the whole the point is we all kinda have an Innova, really. We have something that kinda just triggers us. Anytime it's brought up or we think about it, it just we we get triggered. And the challenge for Jonah really was, I'm gonna come after you. I'm gonna show you my abundant grace, and it's gonna offend you because you don't think those people deserve my grace and my love.”
