#EldersAreServants
“``Elders are not lords over your faith. They are servants accountable to the same Lord you are. So only avoid two errors the way in the way that you see elders in our church. Don't idolize them as if your walk with Jesus rises or falls on man. Right. Amen. But don't despise leadership as those submissions in them is beneath you. See elders for what they are. God's gift to you to help you remain accountable and growing in Christ. Don't idolize them. Don't reject them. Their their involvement in your life is to be a shepherd for your good.”

#GodlinessOverPerfection
“The world often chooses leaders like talent, resume, and charisma, and results, and God God tells his church to look for godliness first. The standard, I wanna say this, is not perfection. If you look at that list, you can disqualify every elder who ever lived if you're looking for perfection. It's not about perfection. If it was, there'd be no elders. This is there's only one perfect name, it's Jesus. Every pastor and elder is still a sinner that's saved by god's grace. Nobody will do everything in this list perfectly, but what you should see is a pattern of behavior that shows they are pursuing Christ and they are living faithful To him, if you stick around any elder long enough, you're gonna see that I'm the center state high grace.”

#CharacterOverCharisma
“The standard is not perfect. The standard he gives is above reproach. A proven, observable, consistent pattern of growing in Christ like us. A life you could point to and say, that is what following Jesus should look like. when we honor a leader, not just the most impressive, not just the most dynamic or charismatic, not just the most successful in worldly terms, the godly man. The men we're gonna bring for you next Sunday, they're not being recognized because they're flawless, but because their character has been tested and found faithful.”

#AccountabilityThroughPlurality
“Second thing it does is it provides accountability. You guys, everybody on our elder team also will have elders, each other. I need an elder. I know I've had these church pastors. Thank god for them. Right? They've they've been awesome for us. They've served as kind of advisors, elders, and they still will, but they're not here. You know who's gonna know a lot quicker whether I'm struggling. You know who's gonna know before them? Our elders here will know. Right. They'll know first. And so concentrated power with not enough accountability is dangerous even in the hands of a godly man. Good men go south all the time. serve as a shepherd. But you know what I also am? A sheep. I need shepherding too. A plurality of elders means the lead pastor has there's better opportunity, and there's a mechanism in place to correct them, to challenge him, to care for him, and to hold him to the same standards as everybody else.”
