She ignored the law of gravity—and relational gravity works the same. Every careless “yes” plants thorns. Every distracted glance at a phone during dinner sows disconnection. Jesus compared our lives to fig trees: healthy roots bear good fruit. He didn’t say this to shame us, but to free us. God designed consequences as guardrails, not punishments. When we align with His design, we thrive.

You’ve felt the sting of “I should’ve seen that coming.” Start auditing your relational seeds today. Which conversations, habits, or distractions plant thorns instead of figs? What one relationship needs you to put the hose down and pay attention?

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows. Whoever sows to please the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit will reap eternal life. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Day 2: Seventy-Two Faces on Mission

Jesus appointed seventy-two followers and sent them ahead to prepare towns for His arrival. These weren’t random volunteers—they’d healed with Him, eaten with Him, caught His heart for the harvest. Their bond wasn’t built on shared hobbies, but shared purpose. [40:29]

The seventy-two discovered their place in God’s story by doing His work together. Comrades emerge when we stop curating friends and start joining the mission. Kingdom relationships thrive on “what can we build?” not “do we vibe?”

Your algorithm won’t suggest God’s squad for you. Where are you holding out for chemistry instead of showing up for covenant? Name one place this week you’ll engage believers in active service, not just small talk.

We gotta, you know, gotta up our game here. It's so helpful to realize that the love that that God has for his for his family, it's it's called love. It's a very specific kind of love. He says a lot of different things, but I think these four verses contain some insight into our biggest opportunities given, like, the culture we live in. Now Paul has just said at this point in time in the book of Romans, he's just kinda reminded them, you're part of a body. You're part of a family of God. We've had those stories all the last couple of years when we've done that conference because that's exactly what we're there to do. We need to experiment. It's okay not to know what body part you are. You just start experimenting and something actually kind of incredible happens when you show up consistently in person with your gifts. There's this net that gets kind of pulled together under your life. That's how I would describe it. My honest to goodness experience kind of with this realm of relationship over the last twenty years is that I try something and it might fit or I might discover something, but I usually find a person to take with me. And by the third season, my husband or myself would text him from the parking lot, like, we're running late. Can you save us seats? And, also, don't get under the blower. I hate it when it blows on my hair. And, you know, just, like, what are you doing after? We're really hungry. We forgot to eat. Do you wanna go get some pizza with us?
