36s
“If you are in Thomas' week right now, if you are in the stretch between the last time you felt the presence of God clearly and the next time you will, you don't have to perform certainty that you don't have. The gospel doesn't ask that. Thomas didn't pretend. He said out loud what he needed to say, and he said out loud what he needed. And Jesus met him exactly where he was.”
36s
“He could have quietly concluded this community is not for me so I'm gone. That their faith had passed him by, but there was no point in staying. But he didn't leave. He was there for practical purpose. He was there the next Sunday when Jesus came back. And the community was the container that held him until that encounter happened. Don't leave before the encounter.”
