When we face overwhelming challenges, we are reminded that the battles we encounter are not ours to fight alone; God invites us to surrender control and trust Him to intervene on our behalf. When we humble ourselves and acknowledge our limitations, God steps in with His power, bringing victory and blessing beyond what we could achieve on our own. He is not distant or waiting for us to prove ourselves, but is ready to move when we call on Him, just as He did for Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah. [06:42]
2 Chronicles 20:15-17 (ESV)
And he said, “Listen, all Judah and inhabitants of Jerusalem and King Jehoshaphat: Thus says the Lord to you, ‘Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed at this great horde, for the battle is not yours but God’s. Tomorrow go down against them. Behold, they will come up by the ascent of Ziz. You will find them at the end of the valley, east of the wilderness of Jeruel. You will not need to fight in this battle. Stand firm, hold your position, and see the salvation of the Lord on your behalf, O Judah and Jerusalem.’ Do not be afraid and do not be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, and the Lord will be with you.”
Reflection: What is one area of your life where you have been fighting in your own strength? How can you surrender this battle to God today and invite Him to intervene?
God responds to those who earnestly seek Him, not with half-heartedness or passivity, but with intentional pursuit and humility. Seeking God means turning away from self-reliance and comfort, and instead, actively drawing near to Him, asking for His wisdom, and allowing Him to reveal any barriers in our hearts. When we seek Him, He promises to be found, to draw near, and to never forsake us, no matter how long we have been walking with Him or how far we may feel. [12:27]
Jeremiah 29:13 (ESV)
You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.
Reflection: In what practical way can you intentionally seek God more deeply this week—perhaps through prayer, fasting, or setting aside time to listen for His voice?
When we pray, we are called to stand on the promises of God’s Word, declaring His truth over our circumstances even when everything around us says otherwise. Praying Scripture anchors our faith, aligns our hearts with God’s will, and invites the power of heaven to move on our behalf. Even in the face of impossible odds, as with the story of little JJ, standing on God’s Word can bring breakthrough and miracles that defy human understanding. [18:06]
Psalm 91:14-16 (ESV)
“Because he holds fast to me in love, I will deliver him; I will protect him, because he knows my name. When he calls to me, I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will rescue him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.”
Reflection: What is one promise from Scripture you can declare over your current situation? Write it out and pray it daily this week.
Praising God before, during, and after the battle shifts our focus from our problems to His greatness, and it releases His victory into our lives. Praise is not just a response to what God has done, but a prophetic declaration of trust in who He is and what He will do. When we choose to praise instead of magnifying our struggles, we step into the victory Jesus has already won for us, claiming His triumph as our own. [27:29]
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (ESV)
Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Reflection: What is one area where you have been focusing on your problems? How can you intentionally praise God in that area today, declaring His faithfulness and victory?
True victory and peace come when we surrender our independence and self-sufficiency, inviting Jesus to be our personal Lord and Savior. Surrender is not a sign of weakness, but the gateway to a relationship where God fights for us, walks with us, and brings us into the fullness of His goodness. Whether you are coming to Jesus for the first time or returning after a season of distance, He is ready to receive you, restore you, and lead you into a life where you never have to fight alone. [31:39]
Matthew 11:28-30 (ESV)
Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.
Reflection: Is there an area of your life where you have been holding onto control or resisting surrender to Jesus? What would it look like to let go and trust Him fully today?
So often, we find ourselves fighting battles in our own strength, striving for control and independence, only to reach the end of ourselves and realize we need help. Just like a child struggling with a stubborn screwdriver, we can exhaust ourselves before finally turning to our Heavenly Father, who is always ready and waiting to step in. The truth is, the battles we face—whether in our marriages, families, workplaces, or personal seasons—are not ours to fight alone. God invites us to tag Him in, to let Him fight for us, and to experience His victory and blessing.
Looking at the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20, we see a powerful example of what it means to let God fight our battles. When faced with a vast and overwhelming enemy, Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah didn’t rely on their own resources or strategies. Instead, they united in seeking God, humbling themselves, and acknowledging their dependence on Him. Their prayer was simple yet profound: “We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on You.” In response, God assured them that the battle was not theirs, but His. He called them to take their positions, stand firm, and witness His deliverance.
This posture of seeking God, standing in prayer, and praising Him—before, during, and after the battle—unlocks the power of heaven on our behalf. When we pursue God with intentionality, humility, and repentance, He draws near and responds. Standing on His promises, praying His Word, and refusing to let our circumstances define our faith, we invite God’s intervention. Praise becomes our declaration of trust, shifting our focus from the size of our problems to the greatness of our God. In every situation, God’s heart is to bless, deliver, and fight for us—not because we earn it, but because of His love and grace.
No matter what battle you’re facing, you are not alone. God is for you, ready to move on your behalf. As we seek Him, stand in prayer, and lift up praise, we step into the victory Jesus has already won for us. Let’s surrender our independence, tag God in, and trust Him to do what only He can do.

And I have a sense today that for some of us, we're in that same position. We're just like, we're looking to God and going, God, I don't know what to do. God, this is so beyond me. God, it feels like this vast army, and I prophetically, I feel the Father's heart for us right now. It feels like this army, this vast army is coming against me. God, I don't know what to do. And you have to hear, you have a heavenly Father that says, this is not your battle. I am the God that can step in the gap. I am the one that can bring victory where it seems like there's only defeat. I am the God of the turnaround. [00:09:45] (43 seconds) #CallOnGod
Come on, some of us have got into a place where you're stuck because you're in this thing of, well, God, come on. Come on, God, prove yourself to me. Come on, if you're so real, if you're so great, come on, intervene. It's like we're that kid in front of the drawer we know what's there, but we won't do our part to step into it. Come on, we've got to do our part to step into what God has for us. Seek Him, pursue Him. And you know what the beautiful thing about our God is the moment we pursue Him, He is right there waiting. [00:14:15] (33 seconds) #HumbleAndDrawNear
Then the third thing is ask for His wisdom. He wants to give us keys in the battle that we're walking through, and how to approach that battle, and how to talk to our spouse, and how to interact with our spouse, how to interact with our children, how to interact with our boss. He gives us keys, come on, and we need to know His wisdom. God, I want to know what You are asking for me in this situation. I'm not just gonna bow back and allow You to do it all for me, but what are You asking me to do? Where are You asking me to play my part? How do I need to be in obedience to You? [00:16:29] (34 seconds) #PrayScripture
The second thing is stand in prayer. Jehoshaphat and the people of Judah, they stood in prayer. They cried out to God. And I love that when they prayed, they stood on what God had said. They stood on the fact that, God, You brought us to this promised land. You promised this inheritance to us. Come on, the enemy that opposes us, You said that if we come to Your temple and cry out to You, You will respond to us. They stood on the promises of God. And there is so much power in our standing on the promises of God. [00:17:34] (32 seconds) #GodIntervenes
``Because see, the powerful thing that happens when we stand in prayer, the heavenly armies fight for us. We're not just on our own, praying little prayers. We have all of heaven standing with us. [00:22:13] (18 seconds) #PraiseTheKing
And it's this beautiful depiction of when we praise, we are claiming Christ's victory in our life. When we praise Him, when we exalt Him, it's nothing that we're doing of our own accord, but we bring the victory of heaven over our lives because we praise our God for who He is. See, when we praise, we prophesy. [00:27:22] (24 seconds) #FaithToStandAgain
