#RecipientNotParticipant
“It just happens to you. Future, passive, indicative. There's something that's happening. In other words, what's what Jesus is saying to his disciples. In effect, what he's saying is you guys are more recipients than participants. Now the disciples, in no uncertain terms, were absolutely the participants in what God was doing. But in this particular instance, what he's saying to them is you are more recipient than participant. when it comes to baptism, are more recipients than participants.”

#FinishedNotFinished
“Notice the finality of that language. Now read the whole verse. For by one sacrifice Jesus has made perfect forever those who are being made holy. So there's a thing that has happened that's done, making something perfect, brought to completion, but also somehow there's something that's not yet finished. Sixty seconds, sixty years. There's a work that has been completed. Jesus' work burying sin and evil, taking sin and evil upon himself, burying it on the putting it to death on the cross and burying it.”

#BaptizedByJesus
“I baptize you with water or in water, but he will baptize you in or with the holy spirit. Notice that's what Jesus also says. I baptize you with water, but he baptizes you with the spirit, which means literally baptism is what Jesus, not the water, does. Baptism isn't what the water does. It's what Jesus does. Now there's a lot to this whole picture here, and we just kinda have to let me speed it up a little bit to kinda give you a sense of what this looks like. But, essentially, baptism is a retelling of a before and after story of faith in Jesus.”

#SixtySecondsSixtyYears
“But people who have been married for sixty years have been through some things. They've seen some things. They've wrestled with some stuff. They've lived life, and their life together has transformed them to actually become more like each other. Big difference between sixty seconds and sixty years even though their status is the same according to the law. They're both husband and wife.”
