#BaptismIsResponse
“``Jesus didn't say, you know, if you're interested, if you're kinda just feeling a bit dirty, maybe you should consider baptism. He didn't say that. No. He said, do it. It's important for us to understand though that we're not saved because we get baptized. But because we're saved, we get baptized. In the same way that we're not saved because we obey enough. We're saved by grace. We're saved by the grace of God through our faith in Jesus Christ. But when grace saves us, it doesn't leave us unchanged.”

#SavedNotByWorks
“It's important to understand what I'm saying here because you you don't need to do enough good works to get saved. You don't do the good works to get saved, but because you've been saved, you need to produce good works. You don't need to be generous to get saved. You don't need to give x amount of dollars to get into heaven. But if you've been saved, then generosity should flow out of the generosity God has put in you. You know, you don't need to love your enemies to get saved. But if you've been saved, Jesus calls you to love your enemies. don't need to be baptized to get saved, but if you've been saved, you need to get baptized. Because obedience is the response of a life that's fully surrendered to Jesus. Let me put it another way. Obedience is not the root of our salvation, but it is the fruit of our salvation.”

#IBelongToJesus
“The real question is, what does following Jesus really look like for you? What does believing in Jesus really look like for you? If you really believe him, then when you enter the water, you're not just doing something, you're declaring something. You're declaring you're not declaring, look at me, I've arrived. You're not saying I'm perfect. You're not saying I've figured it all out. What you're declaring with baptism is I belong to Jesus. Christ died for me. I have placed my faith into him. My faith, it's no longer my faith, it's his faith from that point forward. I've turned towards him and I'm choosing to follow him.”

#RaisedToNewLife
“You're saying to everyone, Jesus is now lord over my life. And in obedience with his word, baptism, while it is public, publicity isn't the point. Identity is. You're making a statement. I belong to him. My life is in the grave, dead, buried. And now I rise and I live. But no longer I that lives, but Christ that lives inside of me. Romans six four says that we are raised to Christ so that we may walk in newness of life.”
