"Have we become so focused with the intellectual aspects of faith that we've lost touch with the spirit of God? The whole religious institution when Jesus walked this earth missed the Messiah. The top scholars of the day, the ones that knew the scriptures, knew prophecy, the ones that people would go to for righteous living, they knew the word but could not recognize the word made flesh among them. These Pharisees were obsessed with their own theology that they literally missed the Messiah standing right in front of them." [00:00:00]

"We cannot be so full of information that we miss the spirit of God moving in our midst. Jesus called out these Pharisees in John 5:39-40. He says, 'You search the scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me, yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life.' These Pharisees were obsessed with knowing scripture, yet the one whom they had studied about they rejected." [00:00:38]

"We do the same thing when we idolize theology, degrees, debates over an actual encounter with God. It's easy to get caught up in the knowledge game today. We spend hours hearing debates, learning root words in Greek and Hebrew, but are we letting the Spirit of God reveal himself to us? Are we valuing that as much as we value knowing?" [00:01:24]

"My brother and sister-in-law had come in to visit for a few days, and that particular day I had promised my daughter that I would spend some time with her and watch a movie with her. So all day she'd been excited about watching a movie with me. So we have dinner with my brother and sister-in-law, and my brother and I get caught up in a theology debate." [00:02:01]

"This whole time we had talked about scripture, yet we had missed the whole point—the spirit of God. We were caught up in proving our points. The spirit of pride was actually the spirit moving that night, and God convicted me because nothing came from that conversation. Nothing of value. We wanted to prove our points, and I didn't end up seeing his point, and he didn't end up seeing my point." [00:03:12]

"First Corinthians 2:4-5 says, 'My message and my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words, but with demonstration of the spirit's power, so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom but on God's power.' This was Paul speaking. He was theologically trained, yet he knew that it wasn't about his wise words but the Spirit of God in demonstration." [00:04:16]

"We cannot get caught up in trying to understand scripture without the Spirit of God bringing revelation. The Pharisees knew the scriptures, yet they missed the Messiah. That tells us that the key to understanding the revelation of what the word is saying is to couple it with the spirit." [00:04:59]

"The Spirit is available to all. You can receive revelation of the knowledge of God just like Paul. Don't be intimidated by degrees or titles, and second guess your ability to hear God. 1 Corinthians 1:27-29 says, 'But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty.'" [00:06:48]

"Matthew 24:24 says this, 'For false Christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.' If you heard me speak before, you know that I believe we are living in the most pivotal time in human history. Jesus is coming very soon. The time is coming where we must be sensitive to hear the Holy Spirit speak and bring revelation to you." [00:08:23]

"If we do not have the Holy Spirit to bring discernment and revelation, if we have not cultivated that within our walk, we will be led astray. So I encourage you today, hear the word of the Spirit speaking to you. And this is something you have to cultivate every single day. We must start walking in the Spirit." [00:09:21]

"If you are walking in the Spirit of God, these are going to be the best days of your life. It says that He's going to pour out His Spirit on all flesh in the last days. His Spirit, He's going to pour that out. But you have to be sensitive to walking with the Spirit to receive that outpouring that He wants to give to you." [00:09:51]

"Lord, we want to walk where you are. We want to partner with you, Lord, and we cannot do anything without you. We recognize, God, that our own reasoning is not enough, that our own intellect is not enough. We need your Holy Spirit to bring revelation. And so we surrender to you, God, all that we are and all that we have." [00:10:55]
