#ChooseIntentionalLife
“``You will not accidentally live the life that God designed for you. You will either choose it or you will lose it. And intentionality, again, is not just about your own soul. The people around you, there are people around you every day that are drifting all over the place, and some of them, you know, they they used to walk with the Lord, but again, their love has grown cold, or it may be people who who are just drifting around that have really never known the Lord. Some of there there are people around you. I promise you. There are people around you that are drowning, yet they look totally good on the outside. All that person needs is somebody who's willing to notice and to take action.”

#SubtleSpiritualDrift
“And so our point here in point number one is spiritual drift is subtle, and that's what makes it so dangerous. It doesn't feel urgent when it's happening because you often don't realize it. How many of you know you can be busy doing good things and still moving away from the best things? How many of you know that you can be faithfully serving week after week after week in the church and losing intimacy with the Lord? How many of you know that you can love your family with all of your heart and you can still be losing the spiritual influence that you're supposed to have in their lives? So what does that mean for us right now? You can be productive and still be drifting. You can look totally fine on the outside but losing ground on the inside.”

#TiedNotNeglected
“And notice there, here in the English standard, it uses the word drift. It doesn't say that you'll run away from it, it doesn't say that you'll rebel against it, it says that you'll just slowly drift away from it. So if those of you who have ever been on a boat and, you know, you get up there and and they they they they get the rope once you get up to the dock and they tie it up to the what's the thing called? The cleat. They tie it up to the cleat. Now how many know somebody needs to tie it up who knows how to tie it up? Because if somebody just wraps it around one time and walks away, what's gonna happen? That boat's gonna drift. And here's the thing. The current, the water, eventually pull it away. And how many know? In that case, you don't have to sever the line. You don't have to cut it. You just have to neglect it.”

#NoticeTheNeglect
“If that's you, good news is you're not alone, and you're not the first person to experience it. It's pretty common. Like I say, most people don't wake up in the morning and say, God, I'm done with you. It's over. We're breaking up. That's not how spiritual drift usually works. Usually what happens is we simply stop paying close attention to things. Prayer our prayer time becomes shorter and more distracted, and our time in the word becomes less intentional and less consistent, and our our gathering with the church becomes more about convenience, convictions that once felt firm and clear within us suddenly have flexibility in them, and slowly, almost unnoticed, we find ourselves further than we ever intended.”

#DriftAwayNotToward
“Guys, that's the target. That's the direction. That's what it means to stay on course. So let me give you the big idea that I'm communicating today. Today, I want you to understand that you don't drift toward the life that God has for you. You drift away from it. Have you know you don't just slip into what God has for you, oops, and fall into it? You're gonna slip away from it. You're gonna drift away from it. And the reality is we've all been there,”

#IntentionalHabitsDaily
“you have to make a decision this week. You can notice the drift in your life, and you can leave it totally unaddressed and keep on drifting and keep on doing things your own way. Or you can get intentional, first with yourself and then with the people that God has placed in your life. Getting back on course, as I said earlier, it begins with honest self examination and staying on course requires deliberate, consistent daily choices.”

#PursuedByTheShepherd
“What does Jesus say the shepherd does? He leaves the 99, and he goes after the one that drifted off, that wandered off. And he does so until he finds it. And then once he does find it, it says that he calls his friends and his neighbors, and he says, come rejoice with me. The one that was lost is now found. And guys, that is the heart of God toward people who have drifted, and that should be great news to all of us today.”
34s
#CompassionNotJudgment
“And here's the reality, that's supposed to be our heart toward those who've drifted as well. But you know what we tend to do as a church? We tend to judge. Oh, they oh, they they they used to love the Lord so much. Look what they're doing now. God goes running for them. They're the lost sheep. He goes, we sit back and we're being all judgy. God's called us to have the same heart. We've drifted before too.”
36s
#IntentionalityIsAChoice
“brings me to my that's my third thing there. Intentionality is a choice, and it starts today. Intentionality is a choice, and it starts today. Like I say, it's not drifting is not automatic, but getting back on course is intentional. And here's I want you to understand this. You will not accidentally live the life that God designed for you. You can say all day long, you can quote scripture and say, I was designed with purpose, and God had a plan for my life. Yeah. You're not gonna just slip into it like you slip into a hole.”

#DriftCostsMoreThanYouThink
“In when we spiritually drift, the cost is always more than we think it is. We we think maybe the cost is just we lose a little closeness to God. No. That's that's not it. We lose we will lose peace. We will lose clarity. You can lose spiritual authority. You can lose influence of the people around you who matter the most in life, And and and the longer the drift continues, the harder it becomes to remember what it felt like to be on course in the first place and harder it is to get back.”
29s
#CostOfSpiritualDrift
“Spiritual drift is not free. Spiritual drift costs intimacy with God, it costs influence with your children and your grandchildren and those around you that you're supposed to influence, It costs you peace in your mind, and and it costs you rest in your soul. It costs clarity about why you're here and what you're supposed to be producing in this life.”

#DriftFromFirstLove
“As I find it interesting, again, he's speaking to a church. They're still an active church. They're still gathering together and worshiping the Lord together. They they they I believe they still believe the right things. They're I believe they were still probably sound in their in their doctrine, and I I believe that they still held to the truth of God's word. And and they were probably working and serving hard and doing all these things, but something had slipped to the point that Jesus says, I have this complaint against you. Their love for the Lord had cooled, and they had drifted from their first love without realizing how far they had actually moved.”

#SmallCompromisesBigDrift
“So we see this pattern on and on with the example of Israel. How many of you know the the people of God, they rarely just outright rejected God in a single moment? That's not usually how more often, what happened was they made small compromises along the way. They adopted a little bit of the culture around them. They neglected the promises that God had give them given them to help keep their hearts soft. did all these different little things, and over time, these little shifts all began to add up. And what they did, eventually, they would find themselves worshiping other gods and wondering how in the world they had wandered so far, why God was so far away.”
35s
#EveryDayOnMission
“And so, guys, there is something required of us. We were never called to go through the motions. We were never called to go to church on Sunday and leave our and that be our Christian faith. Go work and do our own thing about the week and come back on Sunday back to God. We were meant to live and commune with him in our entire life to be a worship every single day. Every single day, we're on mission. So allow your love to grow hot again.”

#TurnBackToday
“And you've been drifting and you know it. You've felt the distance, even like miss Kim was talking about, doing all the right things. But there's become a disconnect in your heart you've become maybe distracted and your passion, your zeal for the Lord, like I say, has cooled a bit. Doesn't mean you love him any less. Doesn't mean you're not serving and doing things for him. But things aren't quite what they were at one point. You sense that something's just a little off. And some of us, we sit around and we just call it, oh, you know, I've just been a little depressed lately. I've just been a little down, a little low. Guys, I'm wanna tell you that today you can stop pretending. You can stop pretending that it's not happening, and you can make a change. You can turn back.”
45s
#StartWithAwareness
“And so here's what I want you to know. Awareness is the first step to getting back on course, but only if you're willing to be honest with yourself. How many of you know that's a little difficult sometimes? So I wanna ask you guys a question, and I want you to answer honestly. Everybody just close their eyes for just a moment. I want you to ask yourself this question. Where have I slowly drifted? Where have I slowly drifted spiritually without even realizing it?”

#RecognizeAndReturn
“So again, have you ever gotten to a point in your life where you stopped and you said, how in the world did I get here? This this isn't what I dreamed of. This isn't what I imagined. Have you ever your spiritual hunger for God? Have you ever felt it fade? And and many times, we don't feel it. Many times, we just kinda look back and go, how am I not where I was a year ago with the Lord? And many times, most often, it's not an act of rebellion. We're not turning against the Lord. We still love him, but we it's still very easy for us to look back and go, man, I've drifted away a little bit. I gotta get back on course.”
46s
#ReturnToWhatMatters
“So, closing, guys, spiritual drift is subtle. Spiritual drift is costly but here's the good news. Spiritual drift is not final. God is still inviting you and the people around you, the people you care about, he's inviting us to come back to what matters most. The only question really remaining in this is will you live intentionally enough to respond and intentionally enough to invite somebody else to respond with you and to come back into alignment as well.”
27s
#SmallChoicesBigConsequences
“And guys, spiritual drift works in the same way. What feels minor in a moment, like ignoring the Holy Spirit's conviction, like skipping time with the Lord, like allowing bitterness to remain inside of us, or like treating obedience as something that's optional in our lives, it can produce consequences that are far greater than we ever imagined.”

#ProtectYourCalling
“We see this played out in the life of Samson. How many of you know Samson, he was set apart from birth. He he he had extraordinary strength, and he had a clear mission, a clear assignment. And yet, we know that he drifted. We know that over time, he made compromises. He treated his calling lightly. He played with the very things that God warned him about. And in the end, he lost his strength, and he lost his eyes, and he lost his freedom, and he lost his life. The man who was raised up to deliver Israel ends up bound with his eyes gouged out, grinding grinding grain as a prisoner until his death when he finally allowed God to use him one last time.”
