There is a longing in every human heart that cannot be filled by anything this world offers—no amount of money, entertainment, or worldly pleasure can truly satisfy. This hunger is a God-given sign pointing us to our need for something greater than ourselves, a Savior who redeems and restores. No matter how long you have walked with God or how spiritual you feel, the answer to your soul’s deepest hunger is always Jesus. He alone is the bread of life, the one who fills the emptiness and brings true satisfaction. If you are searching for something more, if you feel a need that nothing else has met, know that Jesus is the answer you are looking for. [47:00]
John 6:35 (ESV)
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.”
Reflection: What is one thing you have been turning to for satisfaction instead of Jesus, and how can you intentionally seek Him to fill that place in your heart today?
God created us with both physical and spiritual hunger, and just as our bodies need food, our souls need righteousness. When we hunger and thirst after the things of God—His truth, His presence, His ways—He promises to fill us. This is not about religious performance but about a deep desire for what is right and true in God’s eyes. The world offers many substitutes, but only a genuine pursuit of God’s righteousness will bring the fulfillment our souls crave. Let your appetite be for the things of God, and you will find yourself filled with His goodness and glory. [44:07]
Matthew 5:6 (ESV)
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
Reflection: In what area of your life do you most need to develop a deeper hunger for God’s righteousness, and what is one step you can take today to pursue it?
When we come to God with our needs and our spiritual hunger, He does not turn us away. Instead, He fills the longing soul with His goodness, providing what we truly need. Just as He provided manna and quail for Israel in the wilderness, God is faithful to supply for us—not always what we want, but always what we need. If you feel empty or spiritually dry, bring your hunger to God and trust that He will fill you with His goodness, reviving your spirit and meeting your needs in ways only He can. [44:07]
Psalm 107:9 (ESV)
For he satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things.
Reflection: Where do you feel spiritually empty or in need today, and how can you bring that hunger honestly before God in prayer?
Just as our bodies need proper nutrition, our spirits need the nourishment that comes from God’s Word. Filling up on the world’s entertainment, distractions, and empty philosophies is like eating junk food—it leaves us spiritually weak and unsatisfied. Instead, we are called to “taste and see that the Lord is good” and to feed daily on His Word and presence. Make it a priority to start your day with prayer and Scripture, and guard your heart against the things that dull your spiritual appetite. [57:44]
Psalm 34:8 (ESV)
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
Reflection: What is one worldly “junk food” you need to cut out or limit this week so you can make more room for God’s Word and presence in your life?
God desires more than just outward acts of religion or entertainment—He is looking for hearts that are truly hungry for Him. When we gather, it is not to be entertained but to worship and encounter God’s presence. True revival begins when we hunger for the things of God above all else, seeking His Spirit and His ways, not just His blessings. Ask God to renew your appetite for His presence and to stir a fresh hunger for revival in your heart, your family, and your community. [01:25:10]
Psalm 63:1 (ESV)
O God, you are my God; earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints for you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
Reflection: How can you intentionally shift your focus from seeking spiritual “things” to seeking God’s presence and ways, and what would revival look like in your own life this week?
Hunger is a sign of life, both physically and spiritually. God created us with a natural hunger that reminds us to seek what we need to survive, but He also placed within us a deeper hunger—a longing for something greater than ourselves, a desire for the things of God. Just as our bodies warn us when we need nourishment, our souls cry out for spiritual sustenance. Too often, we try to fill that hunger with things that cannot satisfy—worldly pleasures, entertainment, or even just the busyness of life. But only Jesus, the true Bread of Life, can fill the emptiness in our souls.
It’s easy to get distracted and fill up on “junk food” for the soul, just as we might spoil our appetite with snacks before a meal. The world offers plenty of empty calories—things that look appealing but leave us spiritually malnourished. We must be intentional about what we consume, not just physically but spiritually. Feeding on God’s Word, spending time in prayer, and seeking His presence are the only ways to truly satisfy the longing within us. The psalmist said, “He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” God is always ready to meet our needs, but we must come to Him with open hearts and a genuine appetite for righteousness.
There’s a danger in losing our appetite for the things of God. When we become complacent or distracted, we risk missing out on the goodness and revival that God wants to pour into our lives. The Israelites grew tired of manna, the very provision God gave them, and craved something else. Likewise, we can become dissatisfied with spiritual things if we’re not careful, seeking fulfillment elsewhere. But God’s ways are higher, and His provision is always what we truly need.
Jesus saw the hunger of the multitudes and met their needs, not just physically but spiritually. He still does the same today. If we hunger and thirst after righteousness, He promises that we will be filled. The challenge is to keep that hunger alive—to never lose our appetite for His presence, His Word, and His ways. Let us be a people who are truly hungry for God, who seek not just His blessings but to know His heart and His ways.

If you're not reading your word in the mornings or in the evenings, hopefully in the mornings, if you're not praying, hopefully in the mornings when you get up, amen, you're spiritually dead anyway, amen, and you need to be awakened. You're not eating right, you're not partaking of right things. [00:58:27] (18 seconds) #FeedYourSpiritDaily
There's lots of times that we have needs and we don't go to the Bible and we don't go to God in prayer with our needs and we just, we have these needs and we don't turn to Him, we turn to the world. We turn to something that we've read, something on the internet. We get all hung up on all of that stuff and the Bible lets me know that if I cast my care upon Him amen, that He will take care of all of my needs. He will supply all of my needs according to His riches and glory. Come on somebody, I've got to turn to Him and quit turning to the world. Quit turning to the internet. Quit turning to this and that and the other. I've got to give God the glory and that He deserves and He will help me. He'll give me everything that I have need of. We should never lose our appetite for the things of God. Should never lose that appetite. You know, so then you've got to ask the question. What are you hunger for? [01:11:03] (18 seconds) #NeverLoseGodlyAppetite
The things of God are right and real. The things of God. Matter of fact, Jesus told his disciples he said he said man does not live by bread alone but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. That's what Jesus said. He said hey let me give you some advice here. You're not you're not just going to make it on on bread alone. You you you need to understand that the words of God is what we live by. that's what gives us life. [01:12:53] (37 seconds) #LiveByGodsWord
I came to let us know something that we can't just feed this flesh day after day after day after day and not partake of the words of God and expect to be saved and expect to make it to heaven without having the word of God. Come on, somebody. I've got to have the word. I've got to hunger for the right things. I've got to hunger after the things of God. Amen. I'm not going to make it on flesh but I am going to make it on God's word. [01:14:10] (36 seconds) #HungerForGodsWord
God's always doing things and we ignore him but I've been telling God for the last few years when I found that scripture God I love things but man I really want to know your ways I don't want if all I'm here for is things I'm here for the wrong reason man and most of those people even though Jesus looked at them and he said they're hungry they came back over and over again for the things for the fish and the loaves and he wanted them to know his ways.
