The disciples were given authority by Jesus to cast out demons, yet they failed in this instance. This failure was not due to a lack of authority but a lack of faith and spiritual preparation. Jesus highlights the necessity of prayer and fasting as means to cultivate the kind of faith that can overcome even the most entrenched spiritual forces. [00:03:27]

Jesus answered, "Oh faithless and twisted generation, how long am I to be with you? How long am I to bear with you? Bring him here to me." And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, "Why could we not cast it out?" [00:04:32]

Jesus said to them, "Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there,' and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you." This highlights the power of even the smallest amount of faith. [00:05:07]

The disciples' opponent, Jesus calls him the enemy. You will have power over or you will over all the power of the enemy. But think about this, what were they up against? And brethren, I'm dealing with all of this because I want us to think about what we're up against. [00:08:24]

The disciples in this account were disconnected with how things really were. They didn't realize they were confused. They just didn't get it. Lord, we don't know why we couldn't do this. What's wrong? They couldn't see what the problem was. Do we know what Israel ought to do? [00:25:10]

The church is called to be a mountain-moving force, yet often we find ourselves powerless and ineffective. We must awaken from spiritual slumber, recognize the spiritual forces at work, and engage in the battle with the weapons of prayer and fasting. [00:32:13]

The signs of the times are all around us, and we must be like the sons of Issachar, who understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do. We must discern the spiritual climate and respond with faith and action. [00:22:29]

The enemy is real, and the battle is fierce, but we are not without hope. Jesus assures us that with faith, nothing is impossible. Let us rise to the challenge, seek God earnestly, and become the powerful, effective church that God has called us to be. [00:46:21]

We do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. You see, when we see darkness around us, we see darkness in the government. [00:40:00]

The reality of Paul's statement about this rank and file of these demonic cosmic powers, if we really grasp this, it's going to change our whole methodology, it's going to change our whole approach, it's going to change our whole strategy. [00:43:00]

Brethren, the question of the hour is, we're just, we have to be honest now. Listen, if you're sitting out there today and you're just saying, well, look, I'm content with the way things are, I'm content with the way my church is, I'm content with the way the United Kingdom is. [00:16:00]

The greatest thing that he'd like to do now to you is just make you like the disciples, impotent, at least like the disciples in that account. So you can have the right doctrine, you can have John Calvin on the counter, and you can go to church and not watch R-rated movies. [01:11:00]
