Scripture reveals that the Antichrist will rise from among the nations, empowered by Satan, and will mimic Christ in many ways, even to the point of a counterfeit death and resurrection. This imitation is not just in power and authority, but also in the way the world will be amazed and follow after him, mistaking his deception for true divinity. Yet, all of this is permitted only by God’s sovereign allowance, reminding us that Satan and his agents are never truly in control. As believers, we are called to discern the difference between the true Christ and the counterfeit, holding fast to the truth that only Jesus is the genuine Savior and King. [36:47]
Revelation 13:1-4 (ESV)
And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads. And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority. One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast. And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”
Reflection: In what ways do you see the world around you drawn to things that imitate or counterfeit the truth of Christ? How can you practice discernment this week to recognize and reject spiritual counterfeits?
Though the Antichrist will be admired and even worshiped by many, Scripture and the testimony of the saints declare that no one can rival the Lord God Almighty. God’s righteousness, strength, and faithfulness are unmatched, and even the greatest powers of this world pale in comparison to His majesty. When we are tempted to fear or be impressed by worldly power, we must remember that God alone is sovereign, and nothing can stand against Him. Let your heart be anchored in the truth that the Lord is the ultimate authority, and His faithfulness surrounds you always. [49:40]
Psalm 89:8 (ESV)
O Lord God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O Lord, with your faithfulness all around you?
Reflection: When you are faced with intimidating circumstances or powerful people, how can you remind yourself that no one is as mighty or faithful as the Lord? What practical step can you take today to rest in God’s unmatched strength?
The book of life is the heavenly registry of those who are saved by the blood of the Lamb, written not by our works but by the grace of God through Jesus Christ. If your name is in the book of life, it is because of what Jesus has done—His death, burial, and resurrection—not because of anything you have accomplished. This assurance gives believers confidence that, no matter what trials or persecutions may come, their salvation is secure in Christ. The call is to examine your heart: Are you certain your name is written in the book of life? If not, today is the day to repent, believe, and receive the gift of salvation. [56:21]
Philippians 4:3 (ESV)
Yes, I ask you also, true companion, help these women who have labored side by side with me in the gospel together with Clement and the rest of my fellow workers, whose names are in the book of life.
Reflection: Are you certain that your name is written in the book of life? If not, what is holding you back from turning to Jesus in repentance and faith today?
Followers of Christ are called to endure and remain faithful, even when facing persecution or hardship. The saints during the tribulation, and even believers today in many parts of the world, experience suffering for their faith, yet Scripture calls for endurance and faithfulness. This is not a passive waiting, but an active trust in God’s sovereignty, knowing that He holds your soul securely. Even when evil seems to prevail, God’s people are called to listen, be discerning, and stand firm, trusting that their ultimate victory is in Christ. [59:49]
Revelation 13:9-10 (ESV)
If anyone has an ear, let him hear: If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
Reflection: Think of a challenge or opposition you are currently facing for your faith. How can you actively choose endurance and faithfulness in this situation, trusting that God holds your life in His hands?
While it is important to understand the realities of evil and the coming of the Antichrist, Scripture urges believers to focus even more on the blessed hope—the glorious appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ. We are called to live each day in expectation, longing for His return, and letting that hope shape our priorities, actions, and witness. Rather than being consumed by fear or speculation, let your heart be filled with anticipation and readiness, sharing the gospel and living faithfully until He comes. [01:03:12]
Titus 2:13 (ESV)
Waiting for our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,
Reflection: What would it look like for you to live today as if Christ could return at any moment? Is there a conversation, act of service, or step of obedience you need to take in light of His imminent return?
Thank you, Birkmont Baptist Church, for your flexibility and servant hearts as we’ve hosted so many events this past week. It’s a joy to see the church alive and active, and I’m especially grateful for the 20 souls who have come to faith in Christ—what a testimony to God’s saving power! As we turn to Revelation 13, we’re confronted with the sobering reality of the Antichrist, the great counterfeiter, who will rise to power during the tribulation. This figure is described in vivid, symbolic language: ten horns for power, seven heads for intelligence and ferocity, and ten crowns for authority and political influence. The Antichrist will emerge from the nations, most likely a Gentile, and will be empowered by Satan himself—yet even Satan’s power is only permitted by God, who remains sovereign over all.
The Antichrist’s rise is marked by a counterfeit death and resurrection, mimicking Christ’s own victory over death. This deception will amaze the world, leading many to worship both the Antichrist and Satan. Yet, no matter how convincing the imitation, no one can rival the Lord. The Psalms remind us: “Who is like you, O Lord?”—a truth that stands firm even as evil seems to triumph for a season.
God allows the Antichrist to blaspheme, to persecute the saints, and to exercise authority for a limited time—three and a half years. This is not a sign of God’s absence, but of His ultimate control and purpose, even in judgment. The saints during the tribulation will endure severe persecution, and many will be martyred for their faith. Yet, their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life, secure because of Christ’s finished work.
For those of us who belong to Christ, we are called to readiness, discernment, and endurance. We must not take for granted the privilege of gathering, learning, and being equipped for mission. The urgency of the gospel is clear: now is the time to share Christ, so that others may escape the coming judgment. And for anyone unsure if their name is written in the Book of Life, today is the day of salvation—admit your sin, repent, and trust in Jesus.
Let us live in expectation of Christ’s return, longing for the blessed hope, and standing firm in faith, knowing that our God is sovereign, mighty, and utterly unrivaled.

Revelation 12:18–13:10 (ESV) — > 18 And the dragon stood on the sand of the sea.
> 1 And I saw a beast rising out of the sea, with ten horns and seven heads, with ten diadems on its horns and blasphemous names on its heads.
> 2 And the beast that I saw was like a leopard; its feet were like a bear’s, and its mouth was like a lion’s mouth. And to it the dragon gave his power and his throne and great authority.
> 3 One of its heads seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled as they followed the beast.
> 4 And they worshiped the dragon, for he had given his authority to the beast, and they worshiped the beast, saying, “Who is like the beast, and who can fight against it?”
> 5 And the beast was given a mouth uttering haughty and blasphemous words, and it was allowed to exercise authority for forty-two months.
> 6 It opened its mouth to utter blasphemies against God, blaspheming his name and his dwelling, that is, those who dwell in heaven.
> 7 Also it was allowed to make war on the saints and to conquer them. And authority was given it over every tribe and people and language and nation,
> 8 and all who dwell on earth will worship it, everyone whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slain.
> 9 If anyone has an ear, let him hear:
> 10 If anyone is to be taken captive, to captivity he goes; if anyone is to be slain with the sword, with the sword must he be slain. Here is a call for the endurance and faith of the saints.
``But before you think that Satan has this power just to give out nilly-willy. God is actually the one who actually gives Satan the power. So don't think that Satan is all powerful. Okay? Remember that. That is a great theological principle for you to take out of this room. If you don't hear anything else, hear this. Satan is not all powerful. Is he powerful? Yes. But he is not all powerful. Only God the Father is all powerful. So church, let's not fear Satan. God is all powerful. Let's remember that. [00:42:33] (38 seconds) #GodIsSovereignNotSatan
But this is important for you to remember. It is a counterfeit death and resurrection. Jesus' death. Jesus' resurrection gives us victory over sin and physical death and spiritual death. The Antichrist cannot do that. Only Jesus can do. But it is a counterfeit death and resurrection. Jesus has done the ultimate death and resurrection. But as a result of this counterfeit by the Antichrist. It tells us here. The world is amazed. And they begin to follow the Antichrist. [00:46:39] (44 seconds) #VictoryInTrueResurrection
So those who are in the book of life. They will not worship the Antichrist. But all those who are lost. They will. But then we turn our attention to the saints. In verses 9 and 10. They must endure. And they must remain faithful. If anyone has ears to hear. Let him listen. Be ready. Be discerning. In verse 9 is basically what it's saying. Be ready. Be discerning. Matter of fact that's a great one for all of us today in 2025. Be ready and be discerning. [00:58:23] (27 seconds) #PersecutedForFaith
Every time you come into this place. Every time you go to Sunday school. Every time you sit under a sermon. A message. You should have ears to hear. And allow the Lord to open those up so you will listen. Don't just show up to this place and say. Well I'm checking off the box this week. To go to church. No. You're coming into the very presence of the Lord. And his people. And you're coming to be taught. You're coming to be equipped. You're coming to be challenged. You're coming to be inspired. You're coming to be ready to rock out of these doors. On mission for the Lord. [00:58:50] (40 seconds) #SoulSecureInJesus
But remember now. Your soul. Is in the palm. of the lord jesus's hands the antichrist satan nobody can get your soul from him if you've trusted in him praise be to the lord [01:02:09] (17 seconds) #EngagedInGodsPresence
So the question again is are you certain that your name is written in the book are you going to be a part of the rapture if not today today is the day of salvation today is the day that you admit you're a sinner the scripture is really clear all of us have sinned and fall short of the glory of god and it's also really clear that jesus came to rescue us from our sin how to do that the cross live the perfect life dying on the cross as the ultimate substitute placed in the tomb third day god raised him from the dead first corinthians 15 3 and 4 as a result of his work his death his burial his resurrection we can have victory over our sin but you got to admit you're a sinner you're a sinner you're a sinner you got to confess that sin you got to repent of that sin which means turning from it and turning to jesus in faith and calling on the name of the lord to be saved today right now is the time of salvation [01:04:13] (69 seconds) #OnMissionForTheGospel
