[37:27]Observation questions
- In John 14:15, 21, 23, and 24, what repeated connection does Jesus make between loving Him and keeping His words? [09:31]
- What names and descriptions does Jesus give the Holy Spirit in John 14:16–17 and 26, and what do those names show about who He is?
- In John 14:16–18, what promises does Jesus make to disciples who are facing His departure? [14:27]
- According to John 14:26–27, what two things does the Helper do, and how are they connected to Christ’s peace? [29:59]
Interpretation questions
- Jesus says that obedience shows love for Him. How can a believer distinguish obedience that comes from treasuring Christ from obedience that is merely trying to earn God’s acceptance? [08:20]
- Jesus calls the Holy Spirit “another Helper,” while 1 John 2:1 calls Jesus an Advocate with the Father. What does this reveal about the continuing help Christ gives His people through the Holy Spirit? [16:02]
- The Holy Spirit teaches believers and brings Jesus’ words to remembrance. How should a believer test a strong impression, direction, or spiritual claim so that it agrees with Scripture and keeps Jesus at the center? [18:33]
- John 16:8 says the Spirit convicts the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment. Why is conviction meant to lead people toward Christ rather than leave them in shame or fear? [21:44]
Application questions
- Is there a command of Jesus that is clear in Scripture but difficult to obey right now—perhaps forgiving someone, telling the truth, turning from a habit, or loving a difficult person? What would one faithful next step look like? [09:31]
- Where has life felt lonely, unsupported, or uncertain lately? How does Jesus’ promise, “I will not leave you orphans,” speak into that specific place? [07:28]
- When facing confusion or an important decision, what practices could make more room to remember Christ’s words—such as reading Scripture, praying, seeking wise counsel, or slowing down before acting? [29:47]
- What is currently troubling your heart or feeding fear? In that situation, what would it look like to receive Christ’s peace rather than trying to manufacture peace through control, distraction, or avoidance? [30:13]
- Have you ever been tempted to make spiritual experiences, miracles, personalities, or emotional moments more central than Jesus Himself? What helps keep Christ as the focus? [20:11]
- Hebrews 13:6 says, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear.” What practical need—wisdom, healing, provision, reconciliation, courage, or support—would you like to bring honestly to the Lord and to trusted believers this week? [43:51]
