“"This wasn't listen. This wasn't about a new religion. This wasn't about something we're just adding more to our lives. This was a complete reorientation of life. It was moving these people from self preservation to loving and serving others just as Jesus did. Total shift. Complete change. This is where true discipleship began to form, and it formed when they were together. Let me hopefully illustrate this for you. Families families are not formed. Listen to me. Families are not formed by merely sharing the same last name. You get that? Families are not formed just because you have the same last name. Families are formed around repeated moments together.”

“"The early church was not attending an event together once a week. Listen, they were not coming to a concert. They were not coming to be entertained. They were not coming to check their boxes. They were not coming because, man, what's the what's the latest, greatest new truth I'm gonna learn today? No. No. No. They were coming together because they wanted to build a shared life together around Jesus. That was what was different, and it still should be true today. Being devoted listen. Being devoted does not mean being devoid of problems.”

“"The way that you become loving like Jesus is you become loving like Jesus in the community, in the church, with other people, not in isolation. See the problem with a lot of us is we think well when I get to be loving then I'll join the community. It won't happen. You won't grow into a loving person if you don't grow into a loving person with other people. It's a trial and error. Right? How many of you are married or have were married or had been married? Let me guess. You you waited to get married until you were the perfect wife or perfect husband.”

“"Being devoted does not mean devoid of problems. It doesn't mean we're devoid of of struggles or disagreements or even hurts. I've told all every church this is the third church I pastored. I've told every church, if you're here long enough, I promise you two things. Number one, I will disappoint you, And number two, I probably will hurt you. Not intentionally. Not because I want to and that's what I'm looking to do. It's because why? I'm human. I'm going through sanctification just like you are. I struggle with temptation and sin just like you do. And at some point it probably is gonna happen.”
