Paul warns believers to be vigilant against false teachings and counterfeit gospels that can subtly lead them away from the true Christ. Just as Eve was deceived by the serpent’s cunning, our minds can be led astray by messages that sound spiritual but are not rooted in the gospel we first received. The call is to remain faithful to Christ, our true bridegroom, and to test every teaching against the truth of God’s Word, refusing to accept a different Jesus, a different spirit, or a different gospel. [32:07]
2 Corinthians 11:2-4 (ESV)
"For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ. But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ. For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough."
Reflection: What is one message or teaching you’ve recently heard that you need to test against Scripture to ensure it aligns with the true gospel of Jesus?
Satan masquerades as an angel of light, using lies and counterfeit truths to validate our sinful desires and separate us from God. He works through false teachers and deceitful workers who appear righteous but lead people astray, often by telling us what we want to hear. We must be discerning, recognizing that not every spiritual-sounding message is from God, and that the enemy’s goal is to destroy our unity with Christ and with one another. [44:11]
2 Corinthians 11:13-15 (ESV)
"For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light. So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds."
Reflection: Can you recall a time when something seemed good or right but later proved to be a deception? How can you seek God’s wisdom to discern truth from lies today?
The true gospel is not for sale, nor is it a means for personal gain; it is the free gift of God through Jesus Christ, who died and rose again so that we might have life. Paul refused to profit from preaching, instead boasting only in Christ and His finished work, reminding us that our worth and salvation are not earned but received by grace. Let your life be a testimony to the truth of Christ, living in a way that honors Him and points others to the freedom found in the gospel. [42:26]
2 Corinthians 11:7-10 (ESV)
"Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached God’s gospel to you free of charge? I robbed other churches by accepting support from them in order to serve you. And when I was with you and was in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way."
Reflection: In what ways might you be tempted to seek recognition or reward for serving God, and how can you instead point others to the free grace of Jesus?
Our true identity is found in what God says about us, not in the shifting opinions or lies of the world. God’s love endures forever, His mercies are new every morning, and He calls us His own; yet, the world’s counterfeit messages can keep us from living into God’s desires for us. Choose today to let God’s Word define you, rejecting the lies that breed insecurity or shame, and embrace the truth that you are loved, redeemed, and called by Him. [51:48]
Psalm 139:13-14 (ESV)
"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well."
Reflection: What is one lie about your identity that you need to replace with God’s truth today? How can you remind yourself of who you are in Christ?
Being part of the body of Christ means embracing accountability and honesty, not hiding behind judgment or shame. We are not perfect, but by the power of God and the blood of Jesus, we are made right with Him and called to walk together in truth. Don’t allow insecurity or past failures to separate you from the church; instead, lean into community, receive grace, and offer it to others as you grow together in Christ. [54:38]
Hebrews 10:24-25 (ESV)
"And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near."
Reflection: Is there an area where you’ve been avoiding Christian community out of fear or shame? What step can you take today to seek accountability and encouragement from fellow believers?
In a world saturated with misinformation and “fake news,” it’s easy to become disoriented, not just in what we read online, but in our spiritual lives as well. The heart’s natural inclination is to seek out voices that justify our desires, even when those desires lead us away from God’s truth. This is not a new problem; Paul addressed it with the church in Corinth, warning them about false teachers who preached a different Jesus and a different gospel. Just as Eve was deceived in the garden, so too can we be led astray when we listen to voices that validate our flesh rather than the Spirit.
Paul’s deep love for the church is evident in his “godly jealousy”—a desire to see the church remain faithful to Christ, the true bridegroom. He refused to profit from his ministry, wanting nothing to distract from the free gift of the gospel. In contrast, the so-called “super apostles” masqueraded as servants of righteousness, but their message was counterfeit, designed to appeal to human pride and self-justification. Paul’s example is a call to humility, to boast only in Christ and his finished work, not in ourselves or our achievements.
The danger of false teaching is not just theological; it’s deeply personal. When we believe lies—about God, about ourselves, or about what will satisfy us—we become separated from the life God intends for us. Satan’s strategy is to destroy the unity between Christ and his church, just as he seeks to destroy marriages and families. The lies we accept, whether from culture or from within, keep us from living into our true identity as beloved children of God.
Yet, the answer is not to withdraw in fear, but to anchor ourselves in the truth of God’s Word—both the written Scriptures and the living Word, Jesus Christ. We are called to honest self-examination, to reject the temptation to seek validation for our sin, and to embrace the accountability and grace found in Christian community. Our inheritance is secure in Christ, and our lives are meant to be a witness to his love and truth. As we come to the table, we remember that our worth and our hope are found not in the approval of others or in the lies of the world, but in the saving death and resurrection of Jesus.
Primary Text: — 2 Corinthians 11:1-15 (ESV)
1 I wish you would bear with me in a little foolishness. Do bear with me!
2 For I feel a divine jealousy for you, since I betrothed you to one husband, to present you as a pure virgin to Christ.
3 But I am afraid that as the serpent deceived Eve by his cunning, your thoughts will be led astray from a sincere and pure devotion to Christ.
4 For if someone comes and proclaims another Jesus than the one we proclaimed, or if you receive a different spirit from the one you received, or if you accept a different gospel from the one you accepted, you put up with it readily enough.
5 Indeed, I consider that I am not in the least inferior to these super-apostles.
6 Even if I am unskilled in speaking, I am not so in knowledge; indeed, in every way we have made this plain to you in all things.
7 Or did I commit a sin in humbling myself so that you might be exalted, because I preached God's gospel to you free of charge?
8 I robbed other churches by accepting support from them in order to serve you.
9 And when I was with you and was in need, I did not burden anyone, for the brothers who came from Macedonia supplied my need. So I refrained and will refrain from burdening you in any way.
10 As the truth of Christ is in me, this boasting of mine will not be silenced in the regions of Achaia.
11 And why? Because I do not love you? God knows I do!
12 And what I am doing I will continue to do, in order to undermine the claim of those who would like to claim that in their boasted mission they work on the same terms as we do.
13 For such men are false apostles, deceitful workmen, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ.
14 And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light.
15 So it is no surprise if his servants, also, disguise themselves as servants of righteousness. Their end will correspond to their deeds.

He was telling the gospel in a way that was sharing, that Jesus died so they could be forgiven, that he rose from the grave so that they would have life and life eternal and it was completely free. And he says, I refuse to stop boasting in Christ and him crucified. Why? Because I love you. [00:42:39] (19 seconds) #FalseApostlesExposed
He's talking about those people who are walking around preaching a theology that is. And he says, and for these, such people are false apostles, deceitful workers masquerading as apostles of Christ. Masquerading. The word masquerading means you're putting on a mask, you're acting some way and you're trying to be something that you're not. And they're living this way, and they're masquerading their gospel as though it's true, but it's fake. It's counterfeit. [00:43:53] (33 seconds) #ProtectMarriageFaith
And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. It is not surprising then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. And then it says their end will. These false teachers, these people with these false messages, these people that are masquerading around as though they have all the answers. They're receiving a profit for what they're sharing. This is him, Satan himself, masquerading in these lies. [00:44:26] (45 seconds) #FleshValidatedByLies
Because here's the truth. Church. Because what happens if he takes out a marriage? Out the friends, he takes out the church, family, has difficulties, have to choose sides. It destroys all things. And so Satan is working to destroy marriages. He's working to destroy the marriage between the church. And if he can get them to sin, it's going to cause a separation between them and God. My inheritance is in heaven for eternity. It means that God says he's gonna. He sings a song over me every single. That his love endures forever, that there's new mercies each morning. That's who I am. I don't need the world telling me who I am or defining me to myself. I need the word of God to tell me who I am. But the lies that the world tells us, that our culture tells us, keep us from living into what God desires for us. [00:51:37] (32 seconds) #RejectTheLieOfUnworthiness
As sure as the truth of Christ is in me, as Christ is in me, the truth of the gospel is in me. I am going to boast in. In what? I'm gonna boast and tell the world of who he is and what he's done. I'm gonna boast and live my life in a way that honors and glorifies God. [00:52:28] (22 seconds) #ChristianityIsAccountability
