Anchored in Faith: Embracing God's Love and Promises
Summary
As we gather at the close of another year, it's a fitting time to reflect on God's unwavering faithfulness, His boundless love, and the promises He has made to us. These reflections are not just for nostalgia but serve as a foundation for the year ahead. Yesterday, I had a humorous moment that reminded me of the unexpected turns life can take, much like the year we've just experienced. Yet, through it all, God's faithfulness remains our constant anchor.
Reflecting on 2 Timothy, we see Paul, nearing the end of his life, writing to Timothy about the faithfulness of God. Despite being deserted by many, Paul found strength in the Lord's presence. This is a powerful reminder that even when we feel alone, God stands with us, strengthening us for the journey ahead. Paul's life, filled with trials and suffering, exemplifies how God's faithfulness is most evident in our darkest moments. As we look back on the past year, we should remember those moments when God stood by us, providing strength and guidance.
Moreover, we must never forget the depth of God's love for us. The enemy often tries to make us doubt this love, but the truth is that God's love is steadfast and transformative. It is this love that changes us, as it did Paul, from persecutors to beloved children of God. Understanding the breadth and depth of this love empowers us to face life's challenges with confidence and hope.
Finally, we are reminded of the promises God has made to us. These promises are not just words but are the foundation upon which we build our lives. God promises never to leave us, to strengthen us in our weakness, and to perfect us for eternity. As we step into a new year, let us hold onto these promises, knowing that God is faithful to complete the work He has begun in us.

In times of trial, God's faithfulness serves as our steadfast anchor, providing strength and support when we feel most alone. Reflecting on the life of Paul, we see how he found strength in God's presence despite being deserted by many. This is a powerful reminder that even in our darkest moments, God's unwavering support is evident, giving us the perseverance to continue. As we look back on the past year, we should remember those moments when God stood by us, offering guidance and strength. [34:20]
2 Timothy 4:16-17 (ESV): "At my first defense no one came to stand by me, but all deserted me. May it not be charged against them! But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message might be fully proclaimed and all the Gentiles might hear it."
Reflection: Think of a recent challenge where you felt alone. How did you experience God's faithfulness during that time, and how can you rely on His presence in future trials?
Day 2: Transformative Power of God's Love
The depth of God's love is transformative, changing us from sinners to saints and empowering us to face life's challenges with hope. This love is steadfast and unchanging, binding us securely to Christ and helping us overcome despair and sin. 2 Peter 1:3-4 (ESV): "His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire."

Day 4: Confidence in God's Faithfulness and Love
Reflecting on God's faithfulness and love helps us face the future with confidence. Quotes
"So first I'd like to talk about and think about the faithfulness of God. I'm always moved when I think about how faithful God is and how faithful He has been to me and to Life Community Church as a fellowship. And as I look in people's lives, I see His faithfulness." [00:34:49] (26 seconds)
"I want you to notice this 17th verse. But the Lord stood with me and strengthened me. The Lord stood with me and strengthened me, so that through me the proclamation might be fully accomplished, and that all the Gentiles might hear. And I was rescued out of the lion's mouth. The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed, and he will bring me safely to his heavenly kingdom." [00:37:12] (28 seconds)
"In 2 Timothy chapter 2, Paul says, it's a trustworthy statement that for if we died with him, we'll also live with him. If we endure, we'll also reign with him. If we deny him. He will also deny us. And if we are faithless, he remains faithful for he cannot deny himself. He is faithful. When trouble comes, the unexpected comes, when your body, when you physically have issues and your body changes, he's faithful." [00:44:42] (35 seconds)
"When relationships that you thought would not ever change, that would be steady and secure, when relationships are shattered. He is faithful. Often, and I have found that the greater the difficulty, the more we are aware of his faithfulness, the more his faithfulness overcomes us, overwhelms us. Those moments, you think about those Bible moments when he, you know, his faithfulness, when they're overwhelmed, when he parts the Red Sea or when you're the disciples and the boat is, you believe the boat is sinking. These, you know, many of them. Experienced fishermen are saying, Lord, don't you care that we're sinking? And he rebukes the storm. He wakes up, rebukes the storm." [00:48:03] (50 seconds)
"So he, you know, when he steps into those situations, we just recognize his faithfulness. When he provides for our needs, like Daniel, when he shuts the lion's mouth, even Paul refers to that. But Paul says, but the Lord stood with me and strengthened me. And I want you to just think. Think about how the Lord's been faithful to you this year. I want you to be thankful for his faithfulness, that he will stand with you and strengthen you. He did last year." [00:52:13] (29 seconds)
"One of the things I've seen, I've seen in people's lives, I've seen in my own life, one of the things the enemy of your soul will do, he will do everything in his power to cause you to forget it because he knows that believing that God loves you and what Jesus has done for you through Jesus Christ is because of the love of the Father, that when you recognize that, when you get a hold of that, that love is what binds us like a cord in our relationship with Jesus Christ. It's steadfast, it's secure." [00:56:18] (33 seconds)
"So that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith and that you being rooted and grounded in love may be able to comprehend. I love this part, that you may be able to comprehend with all the saints, what is the breadth and the length and the height and the depth and to know the love of Christ, which surpasses knowledge and that you may be filled up to all the fullness of God. That is a great passage." [01:00:22] (27 seconds)
"That's a great passage where Paul is saying, I want you to get up. I want you to get up. I want you to get up. I want you to get up. I want you to get it. I want you to understand the height, the depth, the length, the breadth. I want you to fully comprehend how much you're loved. Because if you understand how much you're loved, he's saying it's going to change you. It's transformational. So that it's going to change how you face the world, how you face life, how you face your problems, because God faithfully loves you. He faithfully loves you. He doesn't change his mind about you. He doesn't decide because you sinned today that he's going to give up on you tomorrow. He doesn't change his faithful love. And so we're rooted. Paul used this terminology. We're rooted and grounded and established in him. We're rooted and grounded. It's like we're like a tree, the psalmist said, planted by the rivers of water and our leaves. Not going to wither, that we're planted and secure. So I just want you to remember and think about, rejoice in, rejoice in, try to comprehend it. Paul says, I want you to pray and try to comprehend the height, the depth, the length, and the breadth of the love of Christ. I want you to try to understand it. And it's beyond your ability to understand it." [01:04:09] (87 seconds)
"So God's faithful love, it's so, so powerful and so important. And I want you to remember His promises to us. The Bible is just filled with promises. I can remember when I was growing up, this was a real common thing, that there was a little box in a lot of people's homes where they would put somewhere convenient in the home, and it was a little box, and it had these little cards in it that were about an inch by three inches. And it was just filled with cards, and it was a promise box." [01:06:09] (34 seconds)
"And people would, you know, they would take one of those cards and think about, the promises of God for them. And I want you to think today about all the promises. The Bible says the promises to God towards us are yes and amen, that God is always working on our behalf. And He's made incredible promises to us through His Word. He's promised never to leave us, never to forsake us." [01:10:03] (29 seconds)
"He's promised us a glorious future that when this tent is folded up, that we have a dwelling with God eternal in the heavens. We have these incredible promises. I want you to just remember, I want you to think about the things that God has promised you, that He's promised to save you. He's promised to keep you. He's promised you eternity." [01:13:59] (25 seconds)
