#MercyOverGuilt
“Hear Paul's heartfelt voice in this moment as he's urging the Romans to remember god's mercy. When you imagine his voice, don't hear the tone of condemnation, but hear the voice of a loving shepherd. Church, don't miss this. God isn't asking you to earn his love. He's inviting you to live in response to his mercy you've already received. The Christian life isn't driven by guilt. It's driven by gratitude. For Paul, mercy isn't just one of God's attributes. It's the lens through which he understands the entire gospel. Every believer will stand before God for the same reason, not because we have earned his favor, but because he chose to show us mercy. That's why Romans 12 begins with mercy ever before speaking for what we need to do in response. Paul is reminding us one thing. This story, it's all about god.”

#GodCenteredWorship
“Envision a life where your dependence on god isn't a secondary thought, When life gets difficult, but it's the center of every decision, the center of every conversation, the center of every moment in the day. Church, this is the worship that God seeks. This is the worship that we need. This is impact of embracing God's mercy. This is true and proper worship. The church in Rome was filled with different backgrounds, different traditions, different convictions just like what we have today. Yet Paul reminded them that God's mercy had made them one through Jesus Christ. Church, that same reminder applies to us today. That reminders that our identity is not found in our preferences, not found in our traditions, not found in our differences. It's found in the mercy that we have received through Jesus Christ.”

#DailySurrender
“True worship is the daily surrender of every area of our lives to the lord. For just a moment, I want you to taste the fulfillment of living for the purpose you were created for. Imagine that you were walking with our god in those perfect moments before we turned our backs away from him. Picture a life where your home is a sanctuary for god. Picture a life in which that sanctuary for god allows him to reside there and hovers over you and your family when you wake up and when you lay your head down. Imagine walking with him daily as you navigate life's problems and seeking his guidance before a hard conversation at work.”

#WholeLifeWorship
“Simply put, Saint Augustine is saying that if it is worship to offer your body to God, then it is even deeper worship to surrender your whole inner life, your desires, your will, and your thoughts fully to him. Imagine walking home. Imagine imagine walking into your home after a long day of work and smelling a gentle fragrance of your favorite incense drifting through your house. For a moment, remember that smell. Remember the joy and the peace that that fragrance brought as it allowed your mind and your body to relax. Now imagine the fragrance of your daily sacrifice if chosen to do so, lifting up to god and allowing him to smell that fragrance. Every act of your surrender, every step of your obedience, every moment lived for Christ in your daily life becomes a pleasing offering before him. Church, this is a living sacrifice that is holy and pleasing to god.”

#ComeAsYouAre
“Church, I wanna bring a reality to us this morning. This room this room holds people that carry shame, that carry guilt, pride, envy, jealousy, mental pain, physical pain. I know this because scripture states that we're all fallen and that the brokenness of this world plagues our lives like an infectious disease. If you're carrying any of these things this morning or a weight bearing, Welcome to the club. You're not alone. You don't need to be better. You need Jesus. Remember that all we need is Jesus who saves us and restores us to the father.”

#WorshipBeyondSunday
“In this part of god's narrative, Paul shows us in the church in Rome that living a Christian life begins with understanding god's mercy. We've captured that. Our response to that mercy is to offer our bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to god. The result of a life surrendered to him is what Paul calls a true and proper worship. Church true and proper worship is much bigger than what happens during the first twenty minutes of a Sunday service. Worship certainly includes the beautiful sounds of the worship. It certainly it certainly includes lifting our hands in praise and declaring a hallelujah over and over again. But, church, worship doesn't end when the music stops.”

#SurrenderedLife
“Paul isn't calling believers to physically sacrifice or destroy our bodies nor is he saying that the goal is to leave this world. Instead, he's calling believers to offer their bodies, their whole selves as instruments of god's purposes while continuing to live in this world. Church, humble me for a minute. I'd like for just this moment to invite you just to shut your eyes just for a second. your eyes shut, I want you to visually place yourself on that altar. Imagine yourself stepping onto that platform. I want you to feel the tensions of a full surrender. Imagine that feeling of releasing your career, releasing your finances, releasing your relationship in full control of God. Imagine that this is what it means to be living a fully surrendered life in sacrifice. You can open up your eyes.”

#ChosenByMercy
“Remember that god's perfect creation was harmonious until we turned our backs on him. God chose to give his covenant people the law to follow. raised up judges to lead them. He sent prophets to proclaim his word. He established kings to govern their nation. And when all of these efforts failed because of our inability to release the pride of being in control of our own lives, he sent his son to die for us. God chose us. God chose you. God sacrificed his only son so that you and I could have the ability to turn back towards him and spend eternity in his presence. Church, it's that mercy in which we need to remember.”
