#FanTheSpirit
“``Do you know what the name for the Holy Spirit is in scripture? Ruach. Breath. Breath of heaven. And some of you are living in such fear, you've forgotten to invite the power of the Holy Spirit on your heart, on your soul, on your life. Fan into flame. Paul Paul writes to Timothy, fan into flame. And not in your own strength. Fan into flame the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of hands, the anointing of the Holy Spirit. For God didn't give you a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, love, and self control. That sounds a lot like Holy Spirit to me.”

#IgniteYourGift
“What spiritual gift lies within you that needs to be fanned into flame? Paul teaches that God gives us a spirit of power and of love and of self control. Holy Spirit is our our ruach, our whisper of life and breath that brings those little embers in us back to glowing power. Can you sense it even now? I can. I actually sense it even right in this room. Some of you are feeling hope for the first time in a long time. Some of you have been living in such dread and fear, shrinking back, believing the lie that your life could have any meaning, any purpose, and the Holy Spirit's breathing life on you.”

#LiveFreeInChrist
“And this is what Jesus wants to have happen to us. You're here in this place hearing the Gospel of King Jesus being proclaimed. Live free. Live free of fear, of shame, of pride. Live free. Live free as a child of God. Not because you're special. Not because you behave in a particular way. Not because of any of those things. But simply because of the grace and the goodness and the love of a father who's called you his own. Who's given you his holy spirit to empower you in this life to live out your calling in line with the gospel. Jesus invites us all into this all in surrendered life of power where your old life and your old values and your old constructs are flipped upside down and have to die.”

#FamilyOnMission
“Surrender your shame. Surrender your ego. Surrender your fear. Stop allowing fear to shrink you and convince you you're better off going at it alone. That's called pride. Keep at this work of faith and love rooted in Christ Jesus. Guard it. You aren't meant to go at it alone. This is not a solo sport. This is a family on mission. Live as a daughter. Live as a son.”

#CastOutFear
“What fear is pushing out your heart, keeping you from using the gifts that are on your life? You know, any root of fear in our lives is an indication of where we're still living in bondage to sin, still living as a captive slave to the power of sin. And you just think of fear as a feeling. But Paul writes to Timothy about a spirit of fear. But I also love the scripture's really clear. The way to deal with the spirit of fear is to invite the perfect love of the father to drive it out, cast it out.”

#DailySurrender
“This is not a blip. One day, I'm good. The next day, I'm uncertain. This is bit by bit being transformed into the image of Christ Jesus. This is daily surrender. This is long obedience in the same direction. This is yielded hearts, yielded lives, yielded values, yielded thoughts, yielded homes, yielded marriages, yielded family, yielded time, yielded resources, all in. Surrender to the gospel of Jesus Christ. No fear. No shame.”

#ResurrectionReorients
“And when you realize what the Christian gospel is all about, the resurrection of Jesus, as the unveiling of God's power and the call of God to you, here and now, putting that power into work in your own life, bringing the promise of your own resurrection in due course, then your entire world of values is turned upside down. You will be ashamed of some of the things that you were formerly proud of and proud of some of the things which previously would have made you ashamed. And that is what Paul wants to happen to Timothy.”

#ChildOfGodIdentity
“I struggle with the whole daddy God thing. It's a little uncomfortable. But maybe that's my own insecurity of being as intimate with the father as he wants to be with me. Daddy, your identity as a child will unlock the power of the gifts that are on your life. God didn't invite you to receive a spirit of slavery where you stay in bondage to fear, but to walk free as a a daughter, as a son.”
