“It's a unique day because we are celebrating all souls. All souls in purgatory. And with those three in mind, this very long weekend, I'm sure that some of you wonder, is it even okay to celebrate Halloween? Right? Why does it seem a little demonic or creepy celebration, to say the least? Well, the reason why is that those three days always come together for a reason. One back to back. And Halloween, All Saints and All Souls, it all begins with the all Halloween. that is because it's actually one celebration. We are celebrating one and the same thing.”

“I'm sure some of you already know the word Halloween is not one word, but three, right? All Hallows Eve, right? And the hallow is this little disc that we draw on Saints images to pinpoint that, oh, that's a Saint, right? He made it. He made it to heaven. So All Hallows Eve is the night before All Hallows, All the Saints. And that is what Halloween is. And then it follows with All Souls, with an altar of the dead constructed in the back with us wearing black. It doesn't make any sense. And yet it does.”

“Because not only Halloween is a Christian feast, as a matter of fact, it is the Catholic feast. This is the feast of the Catholic Church. We are celebrating the Catholic Church in those three days. Because our church is not just us here, 500 or however many we are in this one building. No, not at all. Catholic Church, which Catholic means universal, it's not the earthly church. We're made out of three churches, right? The militant, which is us, the military for God, the ones who are still fighting for our souls, for our freedom, right? We're the ones who are still marching on earth, trying to make it back home, the militant church.”

“And then we have the church triumphant, which is All Hallows, All the Saints, those who already made it, those who already made a home, those who already triumphant, triumphant in God. And then we have the church penitent. That is what we are celebrating today. The souls in purgatory, the third branch of our church. And that is all the souls who finished the battle and now they are purifying themselves to get ready to encounter their creator, to encounter the one who is all good.”

“And because of that, today and for the rest of the month, we are remembering our friends and our families who have died, who finished this war, but for whom we'll continue to pray for the day that they get to get back home. that is why we have the altar in the back. It's a good memory for us, to put their picture, to write their name in the book, to spend the rest of the month of November, not just today, but the whole month, praying for them, offering for them, sacrificing for them.”

“In another word, this weekend is the celebration of the whole Catholic Church, of the whole Universal Church, of all three of us together who are attending this Mass, all three of us, because it's a celebration that we're not alone. It's a celebration that we have companions constantly watching over us, praying for us, and in return, we get to do the exact same thing, pray for them.”

“Now, with that being said, of course, I don't live under a rock. I do know as soon as we leave this church, we'll go back to the world, that nobody really knows what we're talking about. This priest, he's talking about this is the Catholic feast, what Catholic feast's in it? Most people don't even know what Halloween even means. This is the candy feast. We're here to get the candy, and that's about it. And most people truly don't know what Halloween means. Most people truly don't know that they're not alone. Most people truly don't understand that we're having three churches united in one.”

“And that is because when you take God out of anything, you find out that it immediately loses its meaning. I mean, you take the candy out of Halloween, you are left with the creepy and the demonic thoughts. And that's why we like to keep God in it.”

“The Lord is my shepherd. There is nothing I shall want. Our want is fulfilled if we have God with you. You take God out of Christmas, you have a dying tree in your house. You take God out of Easter, you have a bunny collecting eggs for no reason. And you take God out of Halloween, you are left with the thought of death instead of the thought of victory, of companionship, of those who made it and us who will make it soon.”

“Can't you realize that you're not alone? We have our people in heaven with us. We have our people in purgatory with us. We have each other to pray for us. We have God on our side. Bring God into your life and stop trying to figure it out on your own. You won't need to find a meaning to your life because He will bring it to you. He will bring a meaning to every little thing that you do.”

“I know I talked about monthly confessions and I know I talked about daily prayers before. But now I want to ask you a question. When do you think when will you realize that God wants you happy and fulfilled? That He wants to put a new meaning in your life? Can you trust Him?”
