Devotional

Sermon Summary

Sermon Clips

Prayer is not merely a ritual but the most natural expression of our connection with God. When we comprehend who God is and who we are, prayer becomes as natural as breathing. It is the most natural thing that we do when we understand who God is and what we are. [00:00:56]

If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you will ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. The hymn that Sue led us in has the phrase in it which says nothing you ask will be denied. [00:02:01]

Faith never comes by trying to believe. You cannot make yourself believe anything. If you want more faith, ask God for more faith and ask God to lead you through the experiences that will give you faith and ask God to speak to you and encounter you and give you faith. [00:10:59]

Our desires are legitimate factors in our relationship with God. Whatsoever you desire when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you shall have them. We make a difference, and what we want makes a difference. [00:12:17]

Prayer is the lifeline of our relationship with God, a means of communication where we open our hearts and souls to Him. It is through prayer that we work together with God, influencing the course of events and making a difference in the world. [00:23:12]

We are invited to live in the Kingdom of Heaven, a personal kingdom available to us now. Our prayers and actions count for eternity, and we are called to co-work with God, impacting the world through our choices and desires. [00:30:17]

The human soul is so great that take it any direction you go in, you will never get to the edge. There is an edge; you are not infinite, but it's a long ways out there. No matter how wonderfully mature you may become, it will always be possible for you to become more mature. [00:15:26]

We are called to God to live in a personal relationship with him in which our desires, our wants count, where our prayers are a reality, a reality that makes a difference. Your thoughts, your words, your actions tie into the system of reality over which God rules. [00:38:34]

The most natural way for you to live is to live in conversation with God. We were talking about being ashamed after the meeting last time, being ashamed of Jesus. How could a person be ashamed of living their lives in the relationship to God that Jesus portrays and leads us into? [00:17:11]

We pray because if we don't pray, good things that could happen will not, and bad things that should not happen will happen. This is probably, for our levels of feeling and thinking, the single most important thing we have to say today. [00:24:38]

Prayer is co-working with God through talking with God. You say, well, I can't separate out what my part is and what his part is. Many of you, you have power steering on your automobile. You use it, don't you? You don't just say, well, you know, I got power steering on this one. [00:37:42]

The secret of learning to pray is to pray. You just do it, just keep doing. Now we do need words, and Jesus knew that, and when his disciples came to him on one occasion and said, Lord, teach us to pray, he gave them what we call the Lord's Prayer. [00:44:53]
