I love the connection Tertia made between his daily bread, his provision, and our ability to forgive, and the fact that our forgiveness is dependent on how we're willing to forgive, not because he's holding something over us, but because if we can't forgive for something small, how much do we not understand his forgiveness? Right?

When we let temptation take over, when we let it overwhelm us, that's when he can pounce on us. So we're saying, Lord, help me not to wander into temptation so strong that I'm overwhelmed. That's what he's saying. Does that make sense? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we've got a bunch of cats around here. I don't know if you noticed.

See, though we have a new nature in Christ, we're still called to cooperate with his grace. It's not just, we don't just sit back and, like, I'm just going to take your grace, God. It's like, no, we have to move. We have to cooperate, if that makes sense.

If we don't align ourselves with God's holiness, if we don't align ourselves with the mission, we don't align ourselves with trusting him as the provider and releasing forgiveness and not holding onto offense, then we're in danger of getting devoured. We're in danger of wandering into temptation.

Free will is proof that God loves us, right? Obviously it's proof God loves us. He sent his one and only son. To save us. But it's also proof that he gives us free will, that he loves us.

The purpose of the Christian life is for each of us to become like Christ. That's what he opened up for us. All that other stuff, when we start becoming like Christ, all that other stuff gets taken care of.

Temptation, being tempted, is not sin. It's very clear. It becomes sin when it's conceived and it's acted upon. That's when it becomes sin. So I just want to let anybody in this room who feels guilt about...

In order to... to stand up under temptation, we need to develop the fruit of the Spirit in our lives, the last being self-control. I remind my kids all the time, you have self-control! And then I'm like, oh, man, you have self-control. You know?

We need to remind ourselves, I have the fruit of the Spirit. I'm growing the fruit of the Spirit. We put ourselves, we put ourselves in that place to be able to develop the fruit of the Spirit. And it only happens when we spend time with the Lord.

The second we stay in the Word of God, it's crazy because, you know, we read about the temptation of Jesus. And the devil's throwing Scripture at him left and right. And what does Jesus do? He comes back with Scripture every time. Boom. He's not like, no. He doesn't argue with the devil. He just throws Scripture back at him. He's like, because why? He knew it.
