56s
“They started with a hard heart. They started with prejudice against those people. But we also see that the Holy Spirit was there, and he changed their heart and they acknowledged that that repentance for life was available to everyone. My challenge to you folks is that if there is somewhere, some group of people, some individual person, something in your life that you're holding back the gospel message, don't. Realize that as Christians, as disciples, as believers, we cannot gatekeep the message of God.”
48s
“Quite frankly, folks, we have to realize that those people is us. We are those people to somebody else. Who here thinks Ford is the best truck? Woah. I got one over here. God love you. You're wrong. Who thinks Chevy is the best truck? Okay. I got one back here, one here. Who thinks the best truck is the one that's paid for? There we go. That's the right answer. But even on those little things, we find ways to separate ourselves, and it's those people. But again, to us, we're those people to somebody else.”
37s
“And then god's going to tell him something but I want you to think for a minute. Are there old ways in your life that you're hanging on to that's preventing you from discipling, from sharing the message, from being discipled? Saying that I can't do that because of X. I can't do that because my mom taught me this way. I can't do it because I grew up in a church that didn't have instruments. I can't do it because of X.”
51s
“``And here's the truth, folks. Peter's drawing closer to the crux of the matter here. He's talking to those of the circumcision, those who've held it out. If god gave them the same gift and we have the same gift to give to everybody else, why are we holding it back? God had given the same gift of salvation to all and regardless of their heritage, their culture, their looks, their language. We, like Peter, cannot stand in god's way based on any personal discomfort or preference or prejudice. We cannot harbor any notion of clean or unclean.”
