#CostOfCloseFaith
“Here's what I mean. If you actually told the truth instead of managing relationships like Paul did, it is going to cost you something. If you follow Jesus closely, Jesus is gonna affect the way that you spend your money. He's gonna affect the way that you talk about people, what you watch, who you sleep with. He's gonna manage how you deal with your anger. Instead of keeping him in the spiritual part of your life and running the rest of your life yourself, it's going to begin to cost you something. Comfortable faith isn't safe faith. It is just untested faith.”

#GodWasWorkingAllAlong
“That's not from these other idols that you're worshiping. He actually calls them worthless. And that's good news because no matter how far you are from God, no matter how many crystals or horoscopes or whatever incense you burn, all of that stuff doesn't matter. What he's saying is the Lord is the one that has been intervening in your life even when you didn't realize it. I'll put it this way so they can put it on the screen. God has been behind more than you give him credit for. You just haven't known his name. Amen. Amen? Amen.”

#ComfortBecomesIdol
“``What's allowed to comfort you can quietly become what you worship. So let me ask it a little bit more direct this time. What's the good thing in your life right now that you'd struggle to imagine your life without? What's the good thing in your life right now you would struggle to imagine your life without? It's usually not a bad thing. It's usually a good thing. And you sit with that for a little bit because Paul doesn't just deliver this message to the people of Lystra. He's delivering it to all of the Jesus followers, and that includes us in this room.”

#CloserToJesusCosts
“Nearness to Jesus always has a price tag. Distance from him is free. It's free. Paul didn't have that option. He went all in, stood in front of these people, and the cost for him was immediate. I don't think God is looking for us to all get stoned in the city against stoned rocks, not weed. Okay? Follow along with me here. But I do think he's asking you that wherever you're in your life with him to move closer to him, which means following him will probably cost you something along the way.”
