To truly bear fruit that glorifies God, we must abide in Christ, remaining vitally united to Him as branches are to the vine. This abiding is not simply walking alongside Jesus, but allowing Him to live in us and through us, shaping our character and actions. As we dwell in Him, He dwells in us, and our lives become channels for His love, wisdom, and power. Apart from this vital connection, we can do nothing of lasting spiritual value. The Father, as the loving vine dresser, tends to us with care, ensuring that we are positioned to flourish and benefit others. [30:33]
John 15:1-8 (Amplified)
“I am the True Vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit. You are cleansed and pruned already, because of the word which I have given you [the teachings I have discussed with you]. Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me. I am the Vine; you are the branches. Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit. However, apart from Me [cut off from vital union with Me] you can do nothing. If a person does not dwell in Me, he is thrown out like a [broken-off] branch, and withers; such branches are gathered up and thrown into the fire, and they are burned. If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask whatever you will, and it shall be done for you. When you bear (produce) much fruit, My Father is honored and glorified, and you show and prove yourselves to be true followers of Mine.”
Reflection: In what area of your life do you sense God inviting you to abide more deeply in Him, and how can you intentionally nurture that connection today?
God, as the vine dresser, lovingly prunes our lives to remove what is dead, diseased, or unproductive, so that we can bear more excellent fruit. This pruning may come through conviction, the removal of unhealthy relationships, changes in circumstances, or even trials and adversity. Though the process can be uncomfortable or even painful, it is always for our benefit, making us healthier, more fruitful, and more dependent on Christ. Trusting the Father’s character allows us to embrace His pruning, knowing it is an expression of His deep care and desire for us to flourish and bless others. [41:16]
John 15:2 (Amplified)
“Any branch in Me that does not bear fruit [that stops bearing] He cuts away (trims off, takes away); and He cleanses and repeatedly prunes every branch that continues to bear fruit, to make it bear more and richer and more excellent fruit.”
Reflection: Can you identify something in your life that God may be pruning right now? How might you respond with trust and openness to His loving work?
Trials, adversity, and challenges are not signs of God’s absence but are tools He uses to refine our faith, develop endurance, and produce lasting fruit. These experiences drive us to cling more closely to Jesus, seek His wisdom, and grow in patience and steadfastness. Rather than becoming bitter, we are invited to rejoice, knowing that God is using every difficulty to remove what is not of Him and to shape us into people who lack nothing. Endurance, character, and hope are the beautiful fruits that emerge from seasons of testing, all for God’s glory. [54:41]
James 1:2-4 (Amplified)
“Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.”
Reflection: Think of a current or recent trial—how might God be using it to refine you, and what fruit do you sense He wants to produce in you through it?
If you belong to Jesus, He lives in you in His fullness—everywhere, every day, every moment. His resurrection power is not something you call down from heaven; it is already within you, ready to be released as you make yourself available. Your worthiness to minister is not based on your feelings or perfection, but on Christ’s presence in you. When you pray, serve, or comfort others, it is Jesus Himself working through you, and His power is not limited by your emotions or circumstances. [09:27]
Galatians 2:20 (NKJV)
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.”
Reflection: How would your actions and prayers change today if you truly believed that Jesus, in all His fullness, lives and works through you?
Each believer is a unique facet of God’s glory, and only by losing ourselves in Christ can we truly shine with His brilliance. Pruning is not just about removing the bad, but about making room for God’s glory to be displayed through us in a way that only we can. As we surrender idols, pride, and distractions, and allow God to shape us, we become living testimonies of His love and power to the world. The more we yield to His pruning, the more we reflect His character and become a blessing to others. [17:48]
2 Corinthians 3:18 (NKJV)
“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
Reflection: What is one area where you sense God calling you to “lose yourself” in Him, so that His unique glory can shine through your life more fully?
The journey of faith is marked by moments where God speaks, moves, and transforms us, and it’s vital to remember and record these moments. Journaling becomes a spiritual practice, a way to track God’s faithfulness, our prayers, and the revelations we receive. It’s a way to build up our faith, especially when the world tries to tear us down. Reflecting on what we carry as believers, it’s essential to recognize that the supernatural power of God is not just something we access occasionally, but something we steward and protect. This power is not dependent on our feelings or our sense of worthiness, but on our availability and obedience to God.
The reality is that Jesus Himself, in all His fullness, lives within each believer. This is not a distant or abstract truth, but a present and abiding reality. We often think of calling Jesus into a situation, but He is already present within us, ready to move through us. His power is not something we turn on and off; it is a constant, abiding presence. When we lay hands on the sick, pray for others, or face challenges, it is Christ in us who is at work. Our worthiness to minister is not based on our perfection, but on our willingness to be available. God receives the glory when He uses us in our weakness and imperfection.
This abiding presence of Christ changes how we see ourselves and others. When we hug ourselves, we are embracing Christ within; when we reach out to others, it is Christ’s love flowing through us. Each of us is a unique facet of God’s glory, and only by losing ourselves in Him do we discover our true identity and purpose. The enemy’s strategy is to get us to stop believing, to neutralize the power of Christ within us. But as we abide in Christ, we become a force for His kingdom, able to do the works He did and even greater.
John 15 reveals the secret to this abiding life: we are branches, Jesus is the vine, and the Father is the vine dresser. The process of pruning—removing what is dead, diseased, or unproductive—is essential for bearing more and better fruit. Pruning can come through conviction, the removal of unhealthy relationships, changes in circumstances, or trials and adversity. These are not punishments, but acts of love from the Father, designed to make us more fruitful and more like Christ. As we submit to His pruning, we are cleansed, strengthened, and made ready to release His life to others. The call is to embrace the pruning, abide in Christ, and bear fruit that brings glory to God.
John 15:1-17 (NKJV) — > “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear more fruit. You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
> I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.
> By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.
> As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
> These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full.
> This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.
> You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you.
> You did not choose Me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father in My name He may give you.
> These things I command you, that you love one another.”
Journaling helps you to pray. You can pray on paper. You can write down revelations that you get. You can write down questions. Mine is kind of a flowing thing. I bring it on Sundays and I take notes of the service, from the service. Because I find that you're on a spiritual journey and you want to be able to track that. I have years and years and years of journals. And sometimes I'll go back to find something because every once in a while God will speak a word to me directly. And you want to be able to earmark that page so you can go back and be encouraged again with this thing that God spoke to you. [00:00:13] (42 seconds) #PrayOnPaperJourney
I'm in there to the tips of your fingers. Look at your hands. Acknowledge the fact that Jesus is in there to the tips of your fingers. Not my fingers. Not Pastor Gino's fingers. Your fingers. Jesus is in there to the tip of your fingers. Don't ever think. And, of course, what did I do? I went and I gave him the word. And it was powerful. And he was grateful. Because the same Jesus was on the inside of me that was on the inside of him. [00:16:17] (40 seconds) #JesusInYourHands
Every one of those facets uniquely displays my glory. And each one of these facets is one of you. And until you actually lose yourself in the Lord, you'll never know how wonderful you are. Because only you display his glory in a particular way. So, that's part of what we're going to be covering, too. How do we really lose ourself? You know, Jesus said, you know, if you hold on to yourself, you're going to lose yourself. But if you lose yourself in me, you'll find yourself. And that's what that diamond was showing. Every one of us has a unique brilliance of Jesus' glory. And he can only release that glory through you. But until you lose yourself in him, you'll never find it. [00:17:39] (59 seconds) #UniqueGloryInYou
I don't just want to have experience to pray for people at the altar. Wonderful. Love it. But I want to be a force. A power. I want to be Jesus walking. And I'm not taking anything away from the Lord. Please understand me. But that's why Jesus said, greater works. Greater works shall you do. If I raise the dead, you can too. You. Wow. If I cast out demons, you can too. [00:23:59] (29 seconds) #GreaterWorksYouCanDo
So what this is, what pruning is, is that it enhances the health of the vine, the shape, the productivity. Thinking about the husbandman, you know, thinking about our father being the husbandman, we have to trust his character. You know, because some of the ways that the pruning comes, we'll look at that in a minute, are not, they're painful. You know, you take pruning shears to a vine, they may do that because they want to remove diseased parts or dead parts or just, you know, parts that aren't producing anything. Because if you snip those off, then it forces the nutrition back into the branch and into the vine, and ultimately it will be healthier. So God is at that with us. He wants to remove anything that's dead, diseased, that has been attacked by pests, that's not being productive. [00:41:09] (60 seconds) #RemovingToxicInfluence
Trials and adversity are always meant to refine you. Another word for refine is what? Yeah. Because those trials and adversity are meant to burn away what is not burning the glory of God. So that's another way that he prunes us. [00:52:50] (22 seconds) #ApplyWhatYouHear
Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Really? Be exceedingly joyful? Peter says the same thing. You know, you need to look at these fiery ordeals with some joy and some excitement. Really? Why? Because we know that these things are meant to refine us, to prune us, to cleanse us. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith. Now, I want to define that word for you because people think testing is that God is testing to see what kind of faith you have. That is not it. God's trying to. That word prove literally means refining. It literally means that he is assaying. He's removing all that is not gold in you. That's what that means. So, everything that you go through is meant to refine and burn away what is not effective in your life. [00:54:22] (74 seconds) #StayConnectedToTheVine
But the first thing is, we haven't even gotten to that, is that the branches have to stay connected to the vine. And we're going to talk next week about what exactly that means. How do I stay vitally united to the vine? I do understand that my vine dresser, the husbandman, is coming from a place of absolute love. He wants to benefit me. It is a benefit to him as well because it will bring glory to him as I bear fruit. But it will benefit others. Because as I abide in Christ, I can release Christ into your life. Isn't that awesome? Amen? [00:59:22] (36 seconds) #IdolsMustBeRemoved
One other way that he prunes us is by revealing idols in our life. What's an idol? Anything that takes the place of God. And you know, we can have idols that subtly are idols for us. Pride is an idol. Worrying about what people think about you is an idol. Your family can become an idol. Your job, money, possessions, looks, anything. Right? And some of them are subtle because everybody is this way about certain things. Wanting too much success. There's a lot of things that can be an idol. Wanting people to recognize. I'm not pointing with you, Albert. You're not guilty. But wanting people to recognize when we do good things. That can be an idol. So that's one of the things that God wants to prune out of us too. Is an awareness of any idols in our life. I only want to have one God. And I don't want that God to be me. Amen? [01:00:35] (66 seconds)
