“``Jesus says that he comes not to bring peace but to bring a sword. And it's not a sword of violence. It's a sword of faith. Sword of scripture. It's a sword of the truth. Isaiah says the only sword we should use to fight others is the word of God. He also calls it the sword of the spirit. Paul, in his letters, references the sword of the spirit a couple times and says it's the only viable weapon that we have as believers in Christ. In Revelation, Jesus is said to carry evil, and he pulls it out of his mouth. It's a sort of truth. His truth is antithetical to lies. It's antithetical to untruth. And so the armies of evil fall before Christ because he has the sword of truth.”

And so the armies of evil fall before Christ because he has the sword of truth. It's not a sword of violence, but that doesn't make any less sharp. So Christ warns us and says this is what's going to happen. It's not a judgment. It's not a it's not a condemnation. It's not a call to violence. It's called faith. It's called to listening to that fire burning deep in our bones.”

“So if you believe in me, Jesus is saying, it will divide your household if they don't also believe in me. It will divide you from your friends, from your loved ones. And he's not saying that that's the goal. He's just saying that's what will happen. It's just a fact. And when he says, whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me, he's not saying you're not supposed to love your father and your mother. Definitely not. What What he's saying is you have to love God first. And we know from other Jesus' teachings that once we love God, we learn to love other people better. Right? Once we direct our focus towards God, everything else falls in line. We're we're better able to love our mother and our father.”
