54s
“The leap of faith and Abraham's faith for this life are all about helping people of faith like us to see that even the challenges of each and every day are what lead us towards that vision and goal of life and liberty, happiness and blessing, and even a beautiful dance as we commit to our ideals and our lives of faith. So as you continue to faithfully follow Jesus and trust in God's promises, may you be filled with hope beyond hope for what God has in store for you and for this life. May you have the courage to leap high and the flexibility to land where God is calling you anew, and may the peace of God that passes all human understanding keep our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

“The leap from the distance looks elegant. It looks sweeping and graceful. It looks high and wide, but when you zoom in, you're able to see the strength that it takes to balance these wavering landings. It's not just the great leaps that are so beautiful in the life of faith, but also that moment of uncertainty when we take off and when we land, those wavering moments that make up each of our days and those moments when we move through faith in our life.”

“Abraham had faith and had it for this life. It's one of those phrases that struck me first when I was in college, and then it continues to challenge me as an adult. I love that emphasis that Abraham's faith doesn't give up hope that this world is going to be transformed by God. It doesn't give up freedom and possibility. Instead, as his faith, as Kierkegaard said, faintly sees its object on the most distant horizon. You know, that promise of God that comes to Abraham is a big one. It's a big, broad promise of a future and descendants as many as the stars in the sky.”
43s
“Abraham and Kierkegaard helped to show us that faith for this life has never been easy, and we all know that daily life in America these past two hundred and fifty years has been no cakewalk either. The leap of faith and Abraham's faith for this life are all about helping people of faith like us to see that even the challenges of each and every day are what lead us towards that vision and goal of life and liberty, happiness and blessing, and even a beautiful dance as we commit to our ideals and our lives of faith.”
