“My interpretation, the interpretation I was taught is when Jesus says, you are Peter, and on this rock, I will build you by a church. Well, yeah, obviously, the word petros in Greek is rock. Right? So there's a there's connections there. But the confession of Peter is what the rock is. The rock of the faith is who do you say that I am? And we say, you are the Messiah, the son of the living God. That you have come to us in flesh and blood to be with us, to live, to die, to rise so that we can have life and hope. Who do you say that I am? The rock is our confession.”

“And that's what Paul was saying when he was writing to the Romans. Right? We're all called to different things. We have gifts that differ and in grace given to us, prophecy and proportion of faith, minister and minister and teachers and teaching, encouragers and encouragement, the giver and sincerity, the leader and diligence, the compassionate and cheerfulness. we know who Jesus is, when we, like Peter, can say, you are the Messiah, the Son of the God, when he asks, who who do they say I am? We say, you are I am. You are the son of the living God. You are part of the Trinity. You are our salvation and our life. And through you, we are blessed in the waters of baptism and giving gifts to live and proclaim the good news. And you don't have to wear a stole to do it. You can do it wherever you are called to be.”

“It's there to be worn out. It's there to be have kids playing and enjoying and learning and growing and hearing in this sanctuary to have them come and to do chapel and to be present in this space and understand this is for them, that God is for them. And they can hear that gospel message in the way that you give witness, in the way that you care, even in the way that you change diapers, which I know is not probably anybody's favorite activity. I'm done I'm done with that stage in my house, and you know what? I don't miss it. But how we care for those who are put in our midst is a witness to who we believe God is and who we believe we are to be as God's people.”
