During the thousand-year millennial reign, Jesus will physically rule as King from Jerusalem, fulfilling ancient prophecies and establishing His kingdom on earth. This reign will be a time when the promises made to Israel and the world are realized in a tangible, unmistakable way. The focus on Israel and the rebuilding of the third temple all point to this moment when Jesus, the descendant of David, takes His rightful place as King. The disciples longed for this day, and Jesus affirmed that it would come, though only the Father knows the timing. Until then, we are called to continue the work He has given us, knowing that one day, Christ will return and reign in glory, and we will witness His kingdom established forever. [43:54]
2 Samuel 7:16 (NIV)
"Your house and your kingdom will endure forever before me; your throne will be established forever."
Reflection: What does it mean for you to live today with the expectation that Jesus will one day physically reign as King on earth? How might this hope shape your priorities and actions this week?
Those who belong to Christ will not only witness His reign but will also participate in it, reigning with Him for a thousand years on earth. This incredible promise means that our lives now are preparation for real responsibilities in God’s future kingdom. The faithfulness and obedience we demonstrate today will be recognized and rewarded, and we will be entrusted with roles and authority in the age to come. Imagine the honor and joy of serving alongside Jesus, participating in His just and peaceful rule, and seeing the fulfillment of God’s plan for His people. [46:58]
Revelation 20:4-6 (NIV)
"I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years."
Reflection: If you knew that your faithfulness today would directly impact your role in Christ’s future kingdom, what is one area of your life where you want to be more intentional in serving or obeying Him?
God sees every act of faithfulness and obedience, and He promises to reward His people according to how they steward what He has given them. The responsibilities and opportunities we will have in the millennial kingdom are being shaped by our choices right now. God does not expect us to be responsible for what we do not have, but He does call us to be faithful with what is in our hands. Even when it feels like no one notices, God is keeping account, and one day, He will reward you openly for your quiet obedience and steadfastness. Let this truth motivate you to live with the end in mind, making every decision in light of eternity. [50:17]
Matthew 16:27 (NIV)
"For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father’s glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done."
Reflection: Think of a specific area where you feel unnoticed in your faithfulness—how can you remind yourself today that God sees and will reward your obedience, even if no one else does?
During the thousand-year reign, Jesus’ rule will bring about a peace the world has never known—nations will no longer train for war, and even creation itself will be transformed. With Satan bound, conflict and violence will cease, and harmony will exist not only among people but throughout the animal kingdom. This vision of peace is a powerful reminder of what is possible when Christ is at the center, and it gives us hope for the future even as we long for peace in our world today. [58:06]
Isaiah 2:4 (NIV)
"He will judge between the nations and will settle disputes for many peoples. They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore."
Reflection: Where do you see conflict or unrest in your life or community? What is one step you can take today to be a peacemaker, reflecting the coming peace of Christ’s kingdom?
After the millennial reign, God will usher in a completely new heaven and new earth, where all of His people will experience life together in His presence for the very first time. This future is beyond anything we can imagine—no more pain, sorrow, or separation, but a family reunion with believers from every generation, all exploring and enjoying God’s new creation together. When life is hard and hope feels distant, remember that what is coming is far greater than anything we face now. Keep your eyes fixed on the eternal, and let the promise of God’s new world give you strength for today. [01:01:41]
Revelation 21:1-4 (NIV)
"Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, 'Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.'"
Reflection: When you think about the promise of a new heaven and new earth, what is one burden or sorrow you need to entrust to God today, trusting that He will make all things new?
Today’s focus was on the hope and encouragement found in the thousand-year millennial reign of Christ, as described in Revelation 20. We began by celebrating the sense of family and belonging that is so central to our church, and then moved into a broad overview of the end times timeline. This included the rapture, the seven years of tribulation, the second coming of Christ, the millennial reign, the final defeat of Satan, the great white throne judgment, and finally, the new heaven and new earth. Understanding this sequence helps us see where the millennial reign fits and why it matters for our faith and daily living.
The millennial reign is a literal thousand-year period where Jesus will physically rule as King from Jerusalem. This is not just a symbolic hope, but a concrete promise rooted in both Old and New Testament prophecies. During this time, King David will serve under Jesus, and Christ followers—those who have placed their faith in Him—will reign alongside Him. This is a remarkable truth: before eternity in the new heaven and earth begins, we will have a thousand years to serve and reign with Christ on this earth.
What we do with our lives now has eternal significance. Our faithfulness, obedience, and stewardship of what God has entrusted to us will determine the responsibilities and rewards we receive during this millennial reign. This isn’t about earning salvation, but about living with the end in mind, knowing that God notices every act of faithfulness, even when it seems unseen or unappreciated in this life.
The millennial reign will be a time of unprecedented peace and longevity. People will live for centuries, and the world will be free from war and conflict because Jesus will be ruling and Satan will be bound. Even the natural order will be transformed, with peace extending to all creation. Yet, as wonderful as this thousand-year period will be, it is only a foretaste of the eternal joy and newness that awaits us in the new heaven and new earth, where all of God’s people will experience the fullness of His presence together for the first time.
We concluded by remembering that all of this hope is possible because of Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. Through communion, we recalled His body broken and His blood shed, which secures our place in God’s eternal story. In every season, let’s keep our eyes fixed on what’s ahead, living faithfully today in light of the glorious future God has promised.

Revelation 20:1-6 (NIV) — 1 And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain.
2 He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.
3 He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.
4 I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
5 (The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection.
6 Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.
God only holds you responsible for what you have, not what you don’t have. If God can’t trust you with a little, he certainly won’t trust you with a lot. And your faithfulness and obedience today demonstrates to God what he can trust you with for all of eternity. [00:49:56] (17 seconds) #FaithfulnessBuildsTrust
It’s okay to let the idea that your choice to be faithful and obedient when nobody is watching, when nobody, who will ever know, when no one will give you any earthly applause, will be noted and noticed by your heavenly father, who will then recognize that when it’s time to reward you one day for your faithfulness. Church, that day is going to come. It’s not a question of if it’s just when. [00:54:10] (27 seconds) #FaithfulnessNoticedByGod
People are going to live for hundreds and hundreds of years. Like how’s that possible? Way back in the beginning of this series, Jesus described the end times as the days of Noah. Jesus said, it’ll be like it was in the days of Noah. Well, what happens in the days of Noah? Noah and his family, again on the ark, flood comes. Noah and his family repopulate the earth on the other side of the flood. There will be people who get saved during the seven years of tribulation and they don’t lose their life. They survive. And on the other side of the battle of Armageddon, those individuals will repopulate the earth, just like Noah’s family repopulated the earth. [00:56:10] (36 seconds) #DaysOfNoahRepopulated
Because Jesus will be ruling and reigning and because Satan will be bound and in the abyss, peace will be something that will just be a natural thing. So look at how the Bible describes it. Again, the prophet Isaiah chapter two, verse four, Jesus will judge between the nations. He’ll settle disputes for many peoples. They will then beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation. I love this phrase. Nor will they train for war anymore.
