Every follower of Christ is invited into God’s global purposes, not as a burdensome obligation but as a marvelous venture of hope. Each believer, regardless of background or gifting, is given dignity and honor to participate in the work of God, forming a global family that spans every nation and culture. Our unique contributions—no matter how small they may seem—are valuable and essential in fulfilling God’s mission. We are called to offer all that we are, including our very address, to be used for His glory, knowing that our greatest blessing is relationship with Him and the privilege of being part of His kingdom of priests. [38:47]
Revelation 1:5-6 (ESV)
"To him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by his blood and made us a kingdom, priests to his God and Father, to him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
Reflection: What is one area of your life—your time, your talents, or even your home—that you have not yet offered to God for His global purposes? What would it look like to place it on the altar before Him today?
From the very beginning, God’s heart has been for all peoples. His call to Abraham was not just for personal blessing, but so that all the families of the earth would be blessed through him. This blessing is not meant to be hoarded, but shared, extending beyond our neighborhoods and nation to the entire world. As spiritual descendants of Abraham, we are entrusted with this same mission: to receive God’s blessings and intentionally turn them outward, so that every nation might know His love and goodness. [45:58]
Genesis 12:1-3 (ESV)
"Now the Lord said to Abram, 'Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.'"
Reflection: Who is someone outside your usual circle—perhaps from another culture or background—whom you can intentionally bless this week as a reflection of God’s heart for all nations?
God’s vision for His people is breathtakingly diverse and beautiful. In the end, every nation, tribe, and language will bring their unique glory and honor into the eternal city, the New Jerusalem. The family of Abraham is defined not by ethnicity or background, but by faith in Jesus Christ, and it is filled with people from every corner of the earth. Even now, there are thousands of people groups who have yet to hear the name of Jesus, and we are called to notice who is missing from the table and to participate in God’s mission to welcome them in. [50:47]
Revelation 21:22-26 (ESV)
"And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty and the Lamb. And the city has no need of sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and its lamp is the Lamb. By its light will the nations walk, and the kings of the earth will bring their glory into it, and its gates will never be shut by day—and there will be no night there. They will bring into it the glory and the honor of the nations."
Reflection: Take a moment to look at a world map or read about an unreached people group. How can you pray specifically for them to be welcomed into God’s family, and what step could you take to support that mission?
The very character and nature of God is missionary—He left heaven and came to us, even when we were far from Him. Jesus is the faithful witness, the first to rise from the dead, and the ruler of all kings, demonstrating God’s willingness to go to inconvenient, difficult, and even dangerous places for the sake of love. As His followers, we are called to reflect this missionary heart, not by comparing ourselves to others, but by offering our unique gifts and being willing to go—or send—wherever He leads, knowing that our hope is anchored in Christ’s victory and love. [40:37]
John 20:21 (ESV)
"Jesus said to them again, 'Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.'"
Reflection: Where is God inviting you to step out of your comfort zone—whether across the street or across the world—to reflect His missionary heart to someone who needs to experience His love?
God does not need us to accomplish His purposes, yet He lovingly invites us to join Him, much like a parent inviting a child to help bake cookies. Our participation may be messy and imperfect, but it is a privilege and an honor, because through it we grow to become more like Him. He delights in our involvement, not because we are necessary, but because He loves us and wants us to share in His joy and skill. As we say yes to His invitation, we discover the dignity of being part of His priesthood, declaring His goodness to the world. [01:03:43]
1 Peter 2:9 (ESV)
"But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light."
Reflection: In what area of your life do you feel unqualified or hesitant to serve God’s purposes? How might seeing your participation as a privilege and a way to become more like your Heavenly Father change your perspective today?
God’s heart has always been for the whole world, and from the very beginning, He has invited His people to participate in His global purposes. Whether serving in Poland, Guatemala, South Sudan, or right here in Milwaukee, each of us is called to be part of God’s story—a story that began with His promise to Abraham to bless all the families of the earth and that will culminate in the gathering of every nation, tribe, and tongue in worship before the throne. This is not a calling reserved for a select few who change their address or carry the title “missionary.” Rather, every follower of Christ is given the dignity, honor, and privilege of joining in God’s mission, each in a unique way.
It’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that only those who go overseas are truly participating in God’s work, or to minimize our own contributions by saying, “I just pray,” or “I just serve coffee.” But God does not see our gifts as insignificant. Every act of service, every prayer, every effort to love our neighbor or welcome the stranger is a vital part of His redemptive plan. We are a kingdom of priests, not because of our background, education, or status, but because of Christ’s call and His life in us. Our response to this calling is worship—offering ourselves fully to God and making His glory known.
The story of God’s mission is woven throughout Scripture, from Genesis to Revelation. God’s blessing to Abraham was never meant to stop with him; it was always intended to flow outward, reaching every people group on earth. Today, there are still thousands of people groups who have never heard the name of Jesus, and the global church is called to care about those empty seats at the table. Some are called to go, others to send, but all are called to participate. The privilege of joining God in His work is not about efficiency or necessity—God could accomplish His purposes without us—but about relationship, transformation, and becoming more like Him.
God invites us, not because He needs us, but because He loves us and wants us to share in His joy. Like a parent inviting a child to help bake cookies, He knows we’ll make a mess, but He delights in our participation. Our greatest blessing is relationship with Him, and our greatest calling is to extend that blessing to others, both near and far, until every nation brings its unique glory and honor into the eternal city of God.

Never put just in front of what God has asked you to do, because he has given you dignity and honor in that. And when you put the word just in front of it, you're saying, he didn't give me a good gift, he gave somebody else a good gift. Let's honor the gift that God has put in our hearts and in our hands and use it to our utmost. [00:37:44] (20 seconds) #BeLikeGodInMission
``He goes to an inconvenient, difficult and dangerous place. Earth and the Cross. He's willing to give everything so that we might know Him. And our hearts explode. Not every moment. We wish it was every moment. But occasionally our hearts explode in awe and wonder that God, the God who created all things, could do this for us. [00:40:46] (25 seconds) #EyesOnTheKingOfKings
We don't give up, not because of what we see going on around us. It's certainly not that we don't give up because we look at ourselves. Because we look at ourselves and we're like, look at me, Lord, I'm a hot mess. I don't know how you can possibly use me for anything, but we get our eyes off of us and we say, outside of you, I can do nothing. Outside of you, I can do nothing. Outside of you, I can do nothing. That is my confession. That is the truth about who I am. But guess what? I am in Christ. And that phrase in Christ makes all the difference. [00:43:02] (37 seconds) #AmazingGraceUnmerited
It amazes us that Christ loves us because we know what we're like inside and we know what he's like. He's perfectly holy and. And he has no flaws. And we know all of our internal flaws and he loves us anyway. He frees us from sin. That was a horrible debt that he paid for each one of us. And we're so grateful that he freed us from sin. He shed his blood for us. How amazing is that? That we who don't deserve anything from him, we who deserve to be ignored by Him. He gave everything, including his own lifeblood, for us. [00:43:44] (34 seconds) #KingdomOfPriestsCalled
He made us, you and me, a kingdom of priests. And I hope that you recognize that being a kingdom of priests isn't dependent upon your kingdom educational background. It's not dependent on your socioeconomic background. It's not dependent on how smart you are. It's not dependent on whether you're a cool dresser. Clearly, I'm not in that category. It doesn't depend on any of those things. It depends on one thing and one thing alone. Jesus call Jesus invitation and Christ in us, he's the living God. [00:44:24] (33 seconds) #BlessToBlessOthers
Missionaries. I hope that you realize this. The essential missionary endeavor is to pick up and move, change your address, and live among people who you don't agree with. And you'll love them whether they ever agree with you or not. Maybe that could be a way that we could walk around here as well. Well, live among people that we don't agree with and love them whether they ever give proper worship to Jesus or not. [00:55:36] (29 seconds) #UnitedWithGlobalFamily
Being involved in mission is like Christmas cookie baking. Now look, I've talked about Thanksgiving, now we're talking about Christmas. We're really headed into the fall season, right? And so I don't know what Christmas cookie baking is like in your family, but in my, my family growing up in the 70s before we realized that sugar was bad for us. We would put all of that stuff out on the counter and little me, little Pam would walk in and she'd see mom getting ready to make Christmas cookies. And guess what? I said to mommy, mommy, can I help? And mom looked at me and she realized that I was going to slow things down and I was going to mess up the cookies and I was going to mess up the cake and the house was going to be messier and it would require cleaning the dog and cleaning the ceiling and cleaning the entire house by the time we finished. But mom looked at me and she said, yes, my daughter, you can help. And why did she say yes? And why does our Heavenly Father invite us into his purposes? Even though he doesn't need us, he will achieve his purposes because it is written, being involved is a privilege and an honor, just like making cookies with our Heavenly Father.
