#SpiritAsGuarantee
“when I put my faith in Jesus years ago, something supernatural happened. transformed my life and transferred me from the kingdom of death to the kingdom of life. Transferred me into his family. Like something supernatural took place when I put my faith in Jesus. And that is a guarantee assurance by God that I'm saved. In fact, Paul says that in that moment, we received the Holy Spirit. And the Holy Spirit is like think of it like the down payment of your future inheritance. That's what Paul says. Right? You put your faith in Jesus, and it's described in a number of different ways in scripture. Right? Believe in your heart God raised Jesus from the dead and confess with your mouth that he is Lord, you're gonna be saved. Right? When you put your faith in Jesus, something undeniable, supernatural happens. A transfer happens. A transformation happens. It's a done deal.”

#AbideThroughScripture
“There are things that you do and that can deepen a relationship with another person. But sometimes it's hard because Jesus ascended into heaven and he gave us his spirit, but we don't, like, see God physically like the disciples saw Jesus. So how do you abide in God who you can't see? Right? How do you remain and deepen that connection, that relationship with God? Well, are a number of habits and practices that we can participate in, and the major one is immersing yourself in the truth of God in the scriptures. And this is what John is saying. As you are doing that, as you are immersing yourself in the reality of who God is revealed in scripture, you are in fact abiding as Jesus would say in the true vine. You are abiding in the son and in the father.”

#AbideInTheVine
“``Aren't you sick of the discontent in your heart? I hate that I continue to want more and newer and better. I'm like, I want that Paul. I want that contentment. It blows my mind. I've got a joy that I can't explain. What he begins to describe is this quality of life. It's the life of Jesus now birthed in his followers that over time as we abide in the vine grows in us.”

#EternalLifeIsQuality
“This is so good. For the longest time, I thought eternal life was only quantity of time, like extended time. The the the life that happens after I die and how long it extends, but what the scriptures teach is so much better than that. It is quantity time, but it's more than quantity time. It's all also a quality of life. That what happens what what John is saying, the writer of scriptures are saying is that when we begin to follow Jesus, the life of Jesus is birthed in us. And the life of Jesus produces this in unique quality of life. The life that we desire, the life that we long for, the life that we were created to experience.”

#AbideAndOverflow
“I don't know how you feel today about your connection to God. Whether you feel like he's close, whether you feel like he's far away, he is present. As soon as you put your faith in Jesus, everything changes. And as we abide in him, as we engage in practices and habits that shape our hearts and our minds more and more in the way of Jesus, his life begins to expand out and overflow out more and more and more.”

#AssuranceDespiteStruggle
“However, the problem is that as I live imperfectly, right, good days, bad days, good decisions, bad decisions, as I live imperfectly on this journey, I don't always feel super assured. Sometimes I don't feel assured because I didn't have a good night's sleep. Sometimes it's it's raining and gloomy and, you know, you feel sad. Sometimes I don't feel assured because of relational dynamics that are going on. Sometimes I don't feel assured because I haven't been very obedient recently. That none of those things change my assurance. God has set that in stone. My name is written in the lamb's book of life. However, what the scripture does do, which is beautiful, is it gives us a number of things that can help boost our confidence in our assurance.”

#AbideInTheSon
“He said, if what you heard from the beginning abides in you, if the word of God, the truth about Jesus abides in you, then you will. You too will abide in the son. And if you're abiding in the son, you're abiding in the father. what you heard from the beginning is abiding you, remaining you, you're immersing yourself in it, then you can be confident you are in fact abiding in the sun.”

#TranscendentLifeWithin
“That more and more as we abide in Jesus, we notice these qualities of life eternally birthing in us. And if you followed Jesus for any amount of time, you've experienced it. You've seen it. You've noticed it. It's different. But your circumstances don't change. But over time, as we abide in community, in the word of God, something changes in us that changes our experience of our circumstances. It is the transcendent life birthed in us.”
